I can see why many A-list actresses wanted to play this role. Powerful movie and outstanding performance by Angelina

Of course, this type of script with a mega director like Clint Eastwood (who was already a multi award winning director and producer at that time) signed onto to it meant that they'd at least get an Oscar nod even in spite that theres much more character actors out there who never really gotten the chance to shine...

Not always. This was a legit problem back in the day. people thought fairies stole their children and replaced them with changelings. Man even killed his wife once thinking she was a changling and thinking the fairies would bring his real wife back.
So mothers don't always know. Mental health is a real problem.

Should? This film came out nearly 16 years ago. The time for "should win an Oscar" came and went lol. Still, she was great in this film and did deserve at least a nomination.

This is a true story. The mother was locked up for a while because they said she was a madwoman, but it was truly not her son.
This movie is so sad one of my fav Jolie films plus filmed in my home town SB
Aside from Maleficent THIS was Angelina’s Best Role!!!!!!! So sad that Christine died NEVER knowing what happened to Walter!!!!!!! This was such a SCREWED UP TIME W.THE POLUCE!!!!!!!

Really good acting. Made me cry. Based on true story? Makes me hate the government even more when police do these fake things to say 'case is solved'. It doesn't help the corruption of police when there are Freemason agents in the police departments.

you missed the point of the movie. that was her kid. Changling was a mental health issue where mothers thought their kids were stolen by fairies and replaced with changelings.

But I have not seen this movie, and just found the movie is based on a true story, but give a name that implies it was her kid and mental illness stopped her from accepting him as her kid.
