Great video. Putting some soap on it will reduce the scale when hardening.

Thank you for another very inspirational video! Cant wait until I can get a proper watchmakers lathe. My current is to big for this kind of work. Maby possible, but would be very cumbersome.

Excellent video and amazing skills! What kind of graver do you use. It cuts like butter! What is the best material to make screws and stems?

Such a great video. Very informative. One question: where did you get your Jasper block?

On the used market. Sadly watch supply houses don't offer them any more.

brilliant video. I own a lathe machine but the motor does not have a control speed. it seems to run at low-speed RPM. Does this make it harder to cut at low RPM? What kind gravers that you have?
    Thanks
    John

It doesn't make it harder to cut, but may take more time. You may be able to vary the speed slightly with the different sized pulleys in the headstock. When the steel is in the soft state, I'll likely use a tool steel graver, but in the hardened/tempered state, such as when I cut the slot for the set lever, I'll use a carbide graver.
