- A simple hydroponic cloner that can be built by just about anyone. This little cloner will get the job done just like to big expensive ones but at a fraction of the price. Don't let people tell you hydroponics is "expensive" or "complicated" because it isn't.
Use a cloner like this to turn one plant into many in half the time it would take to start one from seed. - Jak na to + styl
when drilling through plastic have the drill spinning counter clockwise. It will melt the plastic instead of cutting it, much smoother and effective.
Correct, works very easy and very clean when you do it this way. But same comments when you want to use the styrofoam plugs....
Nice tip thanks !
Thanks for sharing, I’ve always wondered how to get better cutouts!
Top idea
Just wanted to share this tip too. I'ts changed my life. Haha. Works like a charm every
time
For the neopremes a cheap solution is just cut slices off a pool noodle with slits half way to feed the stem in, very cheap and just one makes plenty plugs😉
What about the kids!!!
Man, best tip ever
The secret in drillivng the holes is put the drill in reverse, cleaner holes even if you're doing it in plastic.
Great video, thanks 😊
I bought a fridge organser a air stone and some foam . Works everytime
Question when cloning do you put in the water ? Or above?
Also how do u figure out how much nute’s with water to the size you build?
Pool noodles form the dollar store work great and cut super easy.
Using a hole saw, you need the center drill bit to keep hole saw stay aligned. Also drill backwards it will make a smooth finish hole, and less tear out.
Do you have to have the cloner under lights?
Thanks for Answering the Question , should the Stems touch the Water !
Yes
Thanks bro
Put your drill in reverse then cut hole for picks
Just needed to use the drill bit to center the door hole saw bit.
Next time use a black storage tub to stop light or you may get algae build up but besides that great idea my friend
How did you keep it from leaking water out around the edges bro
Don't fill it too much. If you're using only a stone you shouldn't have much spray.
1:31 you can burn through styrofoam or just use some heated metal ... there's no need for drilling and it might even be harmful
would like to have some cloning lab at home.
Pilot bit missing
Burn top of can. Itll slide right thru
forstner bits are your friend when it comes to cutting holes in that plastic
Run your hole saw in reverse and youll avoid all the tear out when cutting plactic
Cut holes in reverse next time won't have the cutting issue
Thank u
is it necessary to include the bubbling system?
No, you can use a small water pump instead with a stack riser and a 360 spray head.
Got to be honest man that looks really sloppy. Try getting a pilot bit and drilling in reverse next time. Also you would have been better off heating up the saw or just pushing it through the foam with the weight of your hand on a flat surface.
U need the lid the styro will get innthe ressi
Drill the holes backwards next time
You can use Green Styrofoam, way less mess...😁💨💨✌️
Cloner pasand aya hai🙏🙏, coment from India🇮🇳
Shoulda used the lid to cut the puck holes dude. Styrofoam looks like ish and it made a mess.
At lease rinse it
I have a TurboCloner with sprays & had shit results so converting to bubbles !
Drill the big holes in reverse thank me later.
Good Tip ! I Never Knew That !
No way your bubbles are enough
Right. Needs more air. Should see dense wall to wall bubbles.
Tip - cut the cutting underwater so a air bubble doesn't form in the stem.
Him using the styrofoam was better than the original because the lid lets it leak but the foam is inside the box
Finally your back good to hear your voice it's good to see you're still at it and I hope you don't forget about us...:-)
Anybody watching this video I highly recommend you see his other videos they're just a wealth of knowledge and ideas..
Thanks
Damian :-)
So happy to see a new video! I've enjoyed all the ones in the past. Please keep it up :)
Good to see you back. Looking forward to more videos. :)
wb. I was just thinking the other day I hope you'll be settled in to your new house and able to do a new season this year.
Use a heat gun lightly to keep the styrofoam from flaking
hi there this is amazing trick for cloning time , how many millimeter between the water and cutting trunk from cloning ? in my research cloning need heated mat , so can I add heater from aquarium ? keep it warm , similar with normal dome underneath need heater .
also can I use rock wool for cloning yes
I made one of these , they work great
Where'd you get the larger clear plastic lid you used to encase the setup? It would be great if your videos included a parts list with brand names and possibly the website you got it from. Thanks!
I reflect same sentiment as Jimmy. Use the drill in reverse when cutting into plastics and foam.
How far are the cuttings from the actual liquid in the tank?
what kind of music is playing?
Good to see you back Matthew ! Hows the new house ?
Liking the new place but there's always work to be done. We've got a little one on the way so I'm not sure how many videos I'll be able to put out this year. Still there's one project I've had on my mind for a while so we'll see what happens.
Congrats on the new little hydro grower :)
How long do you leave the cuttings under the dome? Do you use a heating mat to control the temp of the cloners water? Very nice video!
I never had to use a heating mat with the cuttings. If you have a dome with vents you could probably just open the vents once you see some roots being established. Aim for 80% humidity until they look ready for transplant.
qhat size is the hole
If you use the drill spinning in reverse your holes will be neater
Yee
Just heat the hole saw up and push it through. Wala perfect everytime
Sawing in reverse will help.
Nice video. Ive been confused on whether or not to keep stem tips in or out of the water. Verified keep them out and let the airstones do the work. Thank you bro peace ☮️
What kind of food is needed? And at what time?
Terry Nicholson you could add a little of an 0-3-2 once you start seeing Roots. But you’d have success with just the rooting hormone and water on its own too.
should have the drill in reverse to drill I use modify computer cases
great video! Look into "grow grips". There were made from a kickstarter an youtuber put together. I haven't tried them yet, but they seem like they would work better than the neoprene ones.
You don't need to worry to much about external humidity when you use a dwc or air cloner.
This is the exact comment i was looking for. Nice.
@@dalanwanbdiska6542 your welcome
Well now I know what to do with the prunings from my climbing tomatoes...
Two words. Styrofoam Cutter. You can make one from some thin copper or aluminum wire and a 9volt battery. I had to laugh a little when you used power tools on styrofoam lol. Other wise pretty good.
Curtis Dorris. Foam cuts very well with a hole saw he is missing the center drill almost impossible to do a clean job
Jeez, just use some sharp thin paper knife, it's not that hard to cut a few holes with it
why everyone is saying that styrofoam is a toxic additive ? As far as I know, it is inert and it will decompose in a looooong time
Its toxic only if exposed to UV light for many months. Won't happen indoor.
To cut through plastic with those hole saws, drill the pilot hole normally, and then run the drill in reverse to cut the circular part, it creates cleaner cuts.
Looks like his pilot bit is missing. Probably his first time using his dad's drill.
reverse the direction of ur drill when using hole saws in plastic, they work 500% better.
according to my research only 75% better.
Fuck me u fuckers take this shit seriously
Just cut the holes with a utility knife with new blade. Way easier. Plastic isn't too hard for that.
How long in a day should the airpump on? Do you need it 24/7?
Jemyrald Sabat 24/7, they don’t use a lot of electricity
gotta get a backing for the lid - that styrofoam is big mess! lol, so annoying because it sticks everywhere - Good Video though - thanks!
you can get one for under 10€ at ikea,
Your totes is too cheap. Need heavy duty which totally occludes light . Also put lid on tote when cutting will keep it from moving while cutting holes
Musics got me dancing so hard
Just drill 1/2 in drill holes all over it and clone fifty easily at a time no pucks needed
That would damage the newly formed Roots when you tried to remove clones. Need a 2 inch diameter.
That would damage the newly formed Roots when you tried to remove clones. Need a 2 inch diameter.
Except if you're careful. I've never had a problem with it. Years of use out of it.
Get rid of that clone ex and grow yourself an aloe Vera plant mate.... Take the small tips off of the plant and use the gel inside for your clones ;)
Right? Theres always some cheap organic way to do things, big name companies are so sly finding ways to make us pay out the ass for tiny plastic bottles full of "magic rooting hormones". All bs exactly
Honey works just fine…and aspirin is basically the same ingredient as ‘Take Root’ hormone powder.
Maybe if you had the proper tools.
If you drill it on the wood you won’t have that problem, you can make those pucks out of foam as well, and keep them in the water
pythium
pro tip. skip the pucks. let the styrofoam float on the water. it sinks/floats to the perfect height
No. It's important that the cuttings stay above the surface of the solution so Roots can be stimulated by the splash of the popping bubbles.
Brilliant !
you showed a pic of an aeroponic cloner when making the money comparison and built a dwc cloner..VERY big difference between the two. I own a lot of both of those and the aeroponic cloner would have a million times higher success rate than the dwc you made any day of the week. I wont even use my dwc cloners any more and have already givin most of them away. you can build aeroponic cloners cheap as well. Also that styrofoam will be eaten away by the nutrient water and leach chemicals in to you plants roots
oh boy! Chernobyl pot foam cancer!!!!!!!!!good luck .
You can clone a tomato in a bottle water...just snip off your sucker and put it in a bottled water..takes about 2 weeks and the roots will be everywhere
This is much faster and can root more than just tomatoes nahmsayn?
