I have seen Nightwish a bunch of times (only with Floor) and each live performance is magic.
I had the opportunity to see Tarja this year and that voice is so unbelievable! And she is such a sweetheart.
Tarja and Marko are about to tour together actually.

Beautiful song, but go watch the fan-video with footage from Pirates of the Caribbean "On Stranger Shores". Incredible stuff. Like Marko, you'll need to tie yourself to the wheel to avoid your fate... except you can't avoid it.
This is my favorite Nightwish song. Every single member of the band gets their time to shine.

This song showcases well the versatility of Tarja's voice. But if you want to hear more you need to hear something from her solo career. A good one is a song called Victim of Ritual and the live version from Woodstock 2016.
There you can hear quite a bit from her range.... her low chest vocals on that one🤌
Nowadays Tarja actually uses a lot of her chest voice.

I love this song so much
I am unabashedly part of the winter storm who love what Tarja does and who she is.
She has out out the 1st two singles from her new Dark Christmas album out Friday. Christmas music for those not wanting or able to celebrate the bright sunny holiday season, this is the album we need. Some will spend christmas alone. Now you have something fitting.
She has been nothing if not busy.
Diving into the classic era is wonderful but then hearing her evoloution as a solo star you see why she was always going to outgrow the limits of being in a band.
I too love the chonky heavy guitars. So does Tarja. She needs that guitar she says when she writes (rock music presumablly she means). Her new sruff especially 2018 In The Raw has heavier stuff than most of the NW stuff. This is close though. 15 years of growth and new styles/genres you can not go wrong.
I concur about comparing. Floor and Tarja ARE friends, they love each other, support each other. Floor has said.Tarja was her idol as a singer. Whom better to suceed in the role of frontwoman then one who knows, respects and can do at least her own comparable versions of the classics.
Like Brian Johnson of AC/DC, chosen by Bon Scott as the man he'd want to sing for them if something happened and he couldn't. Which it did. NW in safe hands.

So I've requested this many times from several reactors but no luck. Amazing Finnish band Von Hertzen Brothers and their 9,5 minute long album version of the song Kiss a Wish.

Anette was good but lacked the impact of the others. Also there are very few decent live videos of her live. Many feel Anette gave Nightwish their best studio albums. A song of myself or Romanticide are my favs!
I simply prefer the Tarja era and I prefer HER singing the songs from that era.

Ok, think about this: On his way home after the end of the Trojan War, Odysseus was warned by the goddess Circe of the temerity that awaited him. He, on the other hand, could not resist the thought of hearing their heavenly songs, so he asked to be tied to the wheel. And so it happened. The ship approached the island of the Sirens, and the Sirens began to sing, "Come, famous Ulysses, great honor of the Achaeans, come hither and stop your ship so that you may hear our voice. That no one has passed by with his black ship without hearing the sweet voice of our mouths, but has returned after enjoying it and knowing more things..." In this way they continued to try to dazzle the king before which he began to plead with his crew with the aim of being released and reunited with these fascinating beings. But his crew were rowing fast, and the glorious moment had come to leave them behind. There are songs I like best with each singer - this is totally Tarja's for me, but there are also songs which belong to Anette, mostly ballads. And Floor's got plenty too, of course! I don't really have a favourite song, it depends on mood.
