Bio: Milan Stanko is an Associate Professor in Production Engineering at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway. Milan Stanko holds a PhD degree from the same university and a MSc. from Simón Bolívar University (Venezuela). Milan Stanko works and researches on topics such as: bulk oil-water separation, integrated asset modelling and optimization, automated decision-support methods for early field development, among others.
    Abstract:
This talk presents the challenge of managing and optimizing the production or oilfields with several wells boosted by Electric Submersible Pumps (ESP), with increasing water production, low gas-oil ratio and where production is often gathered by trunklines. The presentation covers the development, testing and deployment of a model-based optimization scheme to advice on pump frequency settings on an onshore field and applications on two offshore fields. Additionally, the effect of uncertainties in the production model and the future performance of the formation inflow considering water coning are discussed.
