Some new modern houses have solar water heaters ( 200 litre), solar power, bath tub, etc. India does not have as much energy sources as Canada. Canada has lot of natural gas to heat water and keep homes warm in winter. Canada homes get 24 hour water supply and power, very rare in a year may be once for very short time power off or water off. But in India frequent power and water off because of shortage. But as far nature is considered, India has all kind weather, hot plain areas, snow in hilly area, sandy areas, beaches etc. But in Canada, in winter cold and snow in all Canada, only few month summer.

People used to sleep on roof in North India during summers. India is olden times did not have natural gas. Now we have it some off shore and lot in imported from Qatar. So Gas Geasers (water heaters) are not common. Also people traditionally used to have bath with bucket and a cup as many households do not get 24 hours flowing water. At our home, We have bath with bucket because it saves water compared to a shower and is good for environment.

Yes the housing system is different. All houses in India are made of bricks, iron rods and cement, because wood is very expensive here. But wood in Canada is not so expensive and available in areas.. wood availability in India is very less, not so much production and can not meet this huge population here eventually trees get reduced, if you cut more trees..
