    After 40 years, I finally have an RC10! I envied the kids with them back in the day, but now I have one! Stunning job on the body, especially the window frame in matte black. I've bookmarked this video so I can watch it again when I do my build. Great job on the videography as well. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.

    Love the body, nice touch with the black around the windows aswell. Im halfway through my build but the body wont get that much attention. It going on the track so no point as it will get some battle damage 😁 i just wish they used metric screws like everyone else in this day and age. But, i can understand that they wanted to try to keep it original as possible.

    I watched this whole video with a smile on my face, it brought me back to Dec 31, 1986, I was 15 and one of my friends who could drive we went to Hub Hobby in Richfield, MN before they closed early for New Years Eve. We went back to his house because he already had a RC10 so he had the tools, and I sat there in his shed/workshop and I built that thing. It took me about 10 hours and I finished at around 1-2AM, and we both took our cars out in the snow and zipped them around until the batteries ran out.
    I pretty much stopped the hobby when everything became RtR because for me 99% of the fun was building them and (unfortunately for my wallet) breaking them and upgrading parts just so I could tear them down and rebuild them.
    I want to get several of these now so I can build them. I do hope more manufacturers do start building these kits again. I gave away all of my tools and about 6 cars to my cousin when I moved, but unfortunately another one of my cousins came over to get it so she could bring it all down to him in Florida, and I was not there when she came so she didn't take my HPI rolling tool cart because she didn't know that it was part of it, and that all ended up either going to a couple guys who came and picked everything over to resell it or it went to 1-800-gotjunk which saddens me.
    But now I have the itch again...

Maybe they will do the same for the 40th however there are many aftermarket companies that make parts for the RC 10. If you look at my videos I put out a video about two months ago as a resource guide with all the aftermarket companies that produce parts for Team associated RC 10. Basically you could build an RC from scratch with all the parts produced from these companies

      That's a shame, I'm in Australia too. Just shows you have to pounce fast when you see something you want to buy even if it means importing direct from overseas. Or the alternative then pay the $650-$700 or whatever it was advertised for. No point trying to get a bargain when this buggy is so limited in numbers. They will probably be around advertised on gumtree and eBay for a while though at a considerable mark up in price. Are you absolutely certain Associated don't have anymore. But yeah what a beauty, absolutely stunning. Certainly very vintage in its build up. Different from any Tamiya or Kyosho I've ever seen. Awesome buggy.👌👍

    i'm having binding issues with the transmission build, step 3, the oilite bushings are causing one side of the tranny to bind when i tighten the final hex screws that attach the transmission case to the motor plate. anyone else having this issue? the screws can't be more than finger tight or the transmission won't spin freely on one side. If i continue the build and attempt to drive, I can see the car either pulling to the right severely, or causing excessive wear on the differential rings. bearings would solve this problem but are there even any bearing kits available? If i email team associated it will prob take forever to get replacement parts. so much for building this thing, i should have left it in the damn box :(

    • @morejelloplease
      @morejelloplease Před 2 měsíci

      I found the issue, the axle drive gear internal retaining clip is rubbing on the drive gear pivot, yes it was seated correctly and is flush with the gear. there is a lip on the pivot and it's all scraped up from the snap ring rubbing on it. you can see where it went from black to copper like scrape marks. the bushing was pressed in flush as well. this is a factory defect in my eyes and who knows if i'll ever find replacement parts or if AE will just send me another Bag C to see if it has better quality parts inside. would bearings fix this? do you still use the snap ring even with bearings? Pretty disappointed right now.
