In 2004 I bought a New Ultra classic and riding in heavy traffic stop and go made it rough on my older wrist. I looked up all types of things to help and did not care for them. I was at the dealer in 2005 talking to a friend, one of their parts guys. He told me to walk over and pull the clutch on a new 2005. Boy it sure was nice and he told me about this part. Well the bike was still under warranty and I was not going to chance anything going wrong so I bought the part and they installed it. This is 2019 and I can still pull the clutch with 2 fingers if I want to, I have had 0 problems with this change and since never had a wrist problem in any type of traffic. Love it and would do it again. I'm a OLD mechanic that pulled to many wrenches over the years. Thanks for the video's! Added to your list now with dirty thumbs up.

Did this exact kit on my 02 FatBoy. What a big difference. I originally just wanted to replace my OEM clutch cable with a newer OEM cable (worried the old one was going to snap), and I fig since I was going to attempt this myself and was taking apart the cable assembly, I might as well get the reduced effort kit. Best decision I ever made. Instructions were easy, and I learned how to do it myself, which got my confidence level up to do other things on the bike as needed. Highly recommend it for those with similar style clutch. 👍😎

I went with the Harley kit, as there was no “other” brand kit at that time. I figured if it was made by Harley, it should work without any major mods or issues, and it’s been at least ten years and 20k miles later without any issues 😉

Doc Harley, I have watched many of your video and gained a lot of useful tips from you but there may be another option to begin with before starting an upgrade. True 06 and later is a bit easier than 05 and older. However is is not that much more as we (bride and I) have an 00, 03 and 06, As the bikes age it is necessary to lubricate the cable to restore easy operation. My bride rides the 03 FXDL. It was getting a bit harder over the years. I started researching CZcams for help. This was the second video I watched and figured I would get the kit and upgrade the FXDL but first I would lubricate the cable as the first video I watched just for kicks and giggles. To my surprise we no longer require the kit for her to continue riding as is. It made a huge difference for her to squeeze the clutch lever. Now with that said, I would do the upgrade if and when a new clutch cable is required.

I also noticed that with standard dino HD transmission oil it does not shift as well as with synthetic oil. Still fine just not as sweet as with synthetic. With synthetic oil it shifts better than any HD I have ridden and there have been alot since the mid 70s. Just my 2 cents to add to the conversation. Would synthetic help with the standard clutch setup meaning cable?

Hi Doc, i resently installed the Meuller Power Clutch on my '13 FLHTK, because of my arthrosis in my left hand. The clutch lever is much better to handel, but now another annoying problem arises. The clutch no longer disengages properly, making shifting very poor. This problem is even described in the installation instructions (**lever actions and clutch won't displace accurately, shifting may be harder**), but that can only be read after the product has been purchased. I've tried everything, but it doesn't help. Does the Harley Davidson set also have a smaller clearance, which means that the clutch does not release properly?

I was looking around all last night and apparently I'm not the only one with this problem. I found a good video that looks like an aftermarket slave and master cylinder will fix the issue and will help a lot with the friction zone. Doc, are the 3 balls available to buy ? Seems like a good time to change them. Also, could I just change the cable side and leave the clutch spring for another day ? I kind of hate to tamper with the clutch springs. Thanks, Bill.

I test rode a '91 (I think if I remember right) low rider years ago and the gentleman told me that it had a heavy duty clutch in it. From the first shift through probably the 3rd it would sound like it was chirping the tires upon releasing the clutch. I think it was, not for sure but it sure felt like it. When I released the clutch I could definatley feel it grab hard.

@@LowCountryHarleyDavidson Thanks for the reply. So I have been scratching my head for a while. What I found out was the original owner changed to a chrome primary cover. HD part# 34951-95, which i think is for a 94 and Up Sportster. So i'm assuming i need this one.... Item: P1022632 SKU: 10263965.

Tell the truth Doc, unfortunately you can't get the parts puppies behind the counter to look up anything that old. They can't be bothered. Reading this- buy a kit from DENNIS KIRK or JP CYCLES, and it will be cheaper, work as well, and you won't be INSULATED by some rude and obnoxious tough guy WANNABE behind the parts counter. Yes Doc, you're a true gentleman, but sorry the TRUTH is, Harley Dealers leave LITTLE TO BE DESIRED, unless of course you are a R.U.B. buying a new fully loaded dresser. And yes folks, the average person can do the conversion at home, you don't need a PhD. Master Technician. Which I am by the way. RIDE SAFE RIDE FREE 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Harley Davidson builds overpriced crap and then instead of recalling their bikes and fixing the crap. They charge YOU more for overpriced parts to fix their original crap. This is so typical of HD. It's no wonder there are so many more rice rockets that don't have any issues and that perform just fine right out of the box. Not to mention sucking the doors off of any Harley on the road.
