    The beer going everywhere when you stick blended it made me think of the story you told about your dad. Maybe he's getting back at you for shaking up his beer when you were a kid! 😄🥰

    I open the beer pour it in a bowl and leave it out for couple of days, I've never frozen it. Also I switched to water soluable TD and it's sooooo much easier and dissolves completely in the 💧 ❤

    • @WalnutCreekBathBoutique
      @WalnutCreekBathBoutique  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Hey Carolyn! 💖The last time I made soap with beer I do remember just putting it in a pitcher in the fridge for a few days but I also remember stick blending it on and off in that time. I think I read to do that from The Soap Queen. I now know not to mess with it - thanks! I also didn't freeze it back then but now that I have a dedicated fridge I find I am freezing my water so much more often I just froze the beer too.
      the TD is interesting - I can't honestly remember if I have tried water soluble - I think I have always used water or oil soluble TD. I could not get that to mix well with water. I would heat my water and it would mix better but still not great. Do you premix it like I do and keep it in a container?

    • @carolynpalano9284
      @carolynpalano9284 Před 5 měsíci

      @WalnutCreekBathBoutique I happened to get a jar in a destash and I'll never go back to oil soluable. Yes you can premix and keep it in a bottle, but I just do it as needed, it dissolves in water so fast it's crazy! It's from Nuture soap.The water will evaporate out of the mix over time so I would put some cello or something over the opening in a squirter bottle, this happened in a small bowl I had made but you just add a little water and it's good to go.

    I use A LOT of MWFC oils - they smell amazing. But the majority of them do tend to act up in soap. I've always added my fragrance at the very end after coloring and just before I pour and that seems to help.

    • @WalnutCreekBathBoutique
      @WalnutCreekBathBoutique  Před 4 měsíci

      yeah, I have noticed when buying from them I really have to pay attention to the info on the page. The usage ratings are often very low, and A LOT of them do not behave in soap. Some scents I really like and some I just don't at all. So they are a hit and miss for me anymore.
      I've actually started using more Flaming Candle's scents than ever before and have been pretty happy with them.

      @WalnutCreekBathBoutique On the sides that don't remove, you could use screws on the inside of the wooden box that drill into a wooden handle. Together with glue and screws, should be able to support the weight.

      Tammy, I am one of those folks that open my beer and pour it into a container stirring every once in a while and I have no carbonation left. You know how carbonation in a open drink dissipates and your soda becomes flat. During my 36 years in a brewery, becoming a master maltster, I worked in the Lab for 2 months, learning all about yeast, carbonation, etc., down to the very chemistry of Malt and Beer. It will take 1 to 2 days for carbonation reduction. I just don't feel like dealing with the ice and lye. Thanks for sharing. 🍺

      Thanks for sharing that Cheryl!! That is so interesting, you being a master maltster. Fun Fact 🤗
      I usually do not heat my beer when using for soap, I pretty much do what you do (well as far as my memory allows me to say LOL) but I do remember stick blending off and on during the 2-3 days I had it in the fridge to help that along. So I guess that is totally unnecessary - thank you so much for letting me know! I also don't think I made it ice last time. I think I was just a bit nervous because it had been so many years 🤓
      I never felt like dealing with ice either, until I got a dedicated fridge - now I am able to easily just keep a couple of trays going of distilled water. I think I like doing it that way just for the quicker cool down.

      @@WalnutCreekBathBoutique Just be prepared when it comes to shrinkage which is real 😭😭. I have curly hair and did a big chop on my hair channel. All I can say I made a huge mistake, and caused me to go into such a horrible deep depression because of my haircut. It took over a year to have my hair grow back now it's past my shoulders😁😁. My secret to hair growth leave the hair aloneeeeeee. There are times that I don't wash for 2 or 3 weeks and it's growing. I am thinking of doing a comeback for my hair channel, but the curly hair community is so picky. If you don't have thick type 3 curly not a lot of people will watch. On top of that, you have to constantly buy hair products which I have no room for all the products.

      I am very much a girl that has always grown out my hair just to chop it off - yep, just to grow it out again. I have done that all my life so it really doesn't bother me too much to chop it. I'm sorry you had such a hard time with yours! You have me beat on the washing - I go 7-8 days with a deep conditioner every time. And BTW - I used to watch a "wavy" hair channel too - I just don't have time to watch like I used to so I can't get to them. It isn't that I don't want to watch wavy hair channels. There are a lot of wavy, type 2 and so one curls out there that would probably love it. I wish there was more out there for greys! LOL

    Do you have one set recipe you use Tammy? I don’t, and I think it would be easier to do so? I have so many people who like the different batches of soap. I too have dropped my palm kernel oil recently but I really liked it. I think I could keep soap in stock if it wasn’t for the many different recipes.

    • @WalnutCreekBathBoutique
      @WalnutCreekBathBoutique  Před 5 měsíci +1

      well, normally yes I do have just one standard recipe. I will obviously add different liquids or extras but the base oils are the same. When I first started, even in the first 2-3 years I was all over the place, trying all the different recipes I could get my hands on. Then I realized that the space for all of those oils was an issue. More than that was the labeling - labeling is soo dang hard when you can't just reuse one over and over. Maybe your customers will be ok if your base recipe is the same but you add different and fun extras 🤔💖
