I'm teaching some grade schoolers a minuet for a play and have had trouble finding one that is accurate, entertaining, and still straightforward enough for all of us ;) This looks like it will be perfect!

Hi Marquis William Smith. I also love this beautiful piece. The minuet is from Rameau's opera Platée (1745). Another version on CZcams....Rameau: Minuet fra Platée Piano. See also CZcams....Baroque Dance: Minuet from Rameau's Platée 1745

    Strange journey of minuet
    1) French + etc, European royalist symbol
    2)Across Atlantic, in Argentina +
Uruguay in 18010 to 20 independence wars. some people created several
dances called minue--- inspired by French original, but unique
    Momue Nacional
    Monue Federal
Mi nue Montonero (Up-- or Highland)
The new Mimue became. republican !!!
    independence symbol.
See various videos under each of these 3.Minues.

On tippy-tippy toes and baby steps!

The "tippy-tippy toes and baby steps" are genuine baroque dance steps. Love it or hate it ... but know it.

The word minuet is said to come from French "menu" (small), precisely because of the very small steps it required

i found a minuet in Rameau books (le maître a danser) but they're dances, not music, what music you play in this video if it minuet then who compose it

Sounds proto classical? Yes? More simple than baroque

Neat. But if I had to watch couple after couple do this like in the olden days at 'assembly halls' that I am learning about in a documentary on dancing I would get bored.

I'm sure Sir Percy Blakeney from the Scarlet Pimpernel isn't the only one to fine the minuet "rather tedious."
