I was lucky to be able to dance with a baroque opera company. It was a lot of fun. the costumes and wigs always made me feel like a wedding cake.
I also did this type of performances for a while in my life...still miss the royal ambiente...
@@karlashmeedavlasta6365 How do you do? My name is Morgan Murchison and I am in Hungary but I would like to take part in such an 18th century dance. Please can you put me in touch with any groups near where I am? Thank you.
Hello, I was very impressed with this and I would like to take part in such an event and of course wear these sort of clothes.
So You felt like a count and your dance partner a countess in your palace.
It was nice to see your comment. I would like to dance like this with a baroque group. Please can you help me. My full name is Morgan Murchison and I love the 18th century.
Hansel’s music is so majestic. Will forever be immortal
"Hansel" found his way into a witch's oven... This here is Handel...😃
@@DavidRice111 😂😂🤣
I prefer Gretel's music :P
@@pierre-emmanuelansart3777I heard the witch plays metal
@@DavidRice111 Händel 😇
I had the pleasure of taking two Baroque dance classes at The Royal Opera House Covent Garden a while back.It was the most wonderful thing I have done in ages and I am 74 years of age.
william woolhouse, I envy you, both the age and the dancing. Good for you ⭐️
I wish i could attend it
Wild!!
Not so wild Mark!! I Could hardly walk the next day.But I would do it all again. We all had a great time,Then headed off to the pub afterwards fir a jug of Ale !!!
william woolhouse , ooh wish I had been there. I like dancing and ale😋
This is why we contemporarily refer to these pieces of music, customs, and dress as “classical:” they have become a timeless embodiment of grace and beauty. This world has produced countless scores of ugly things and people, but the old rituals of Europe remain an escape to a fantastical blip of time and place for millions to this day. Our ancestors from this era would be “floored” and delighted by our ability to hold a ballroom in the palm of our hands.
Njililcline.....por qué eso de personas feas....!!!????
Tu eres bella....!!???????
I wish I could like that video more than once.
if I was invited to a party like that, I'd be the happiest person alive!
How old are you, now in 2019 ? 😂and where are you from ?
the dainty refined minuet versus bone in the nose twirk, the CORRECT word for disgusting devolving gyrations of an inferior teenage "up yours" immature attitude, one level above toddlers mooning you when thwarted of a snack or play pretty toy
.
Sharon Thompson I lost at least 10 IQ points reading your comment.
@@sharonthompson9757 Sorry what?
Helen MA you will now have been now dead for a few 100 years
The fact that the couples match warms my heart for some reason
Knowing the music already as I do, I knew there were dances set to each piece, but could never envision them.
This video was a revelation. I was never sure about the Hornpipe, but now I see.
The Menuet was particularly charming.
I also like seeing the orchestra in costume as well.
The only thing that could possibly complete that scene would be having other well-dressed guests around the perimeter of the floor watching the dancers as they sip champagne and eat hors d'oeuvres and petit-fours.
Love it. Love Handel. Might now be considered "camp" but who cares? I would love to dance thus.
Anytime I listen to classical music I feel peace❤️
me too!
What a delight to watch and listen. The dancing was well practiced and the music lovely.
Love you Mr. Handel.
Absolutely graceful and serene
Astoundingly lovely. As marvelous as paintings in a museum from that Era. Thanks to the men, ladies & who made this possible.
Thank you. I love almost anything by Handel. This dancing is so
elegant!
He should have had a child. Maybe they would have inherited the talent.
I've wondered about the descendants of the Masters like Bach, Mozart, Handel, Telemann & Haydn?
Where & who are they? 😕
The elegance, the movement and the fleeting touch. The joys of period dance.
So much fun to watch, I can imagine dancing like this to Handel’s wonderful Water Music!🌹🌹🌹
The part with the lovely elegant lady , with the two courtly gentlemen trying to charm her , just blows me sideways .. so much emotion expressed through movement ☺️
Absolutely fantastic!!! 😌
А если в реальности: зачем пытаются "очаровать" - чтоб "снести крышу"? Вот так и разлагались общество - начиная с "верхов"!
Welche Anmut, welche Eleganz, was für eine grandiose Musik! ❤️🎶
A little Watermusic trivia ... because this was to be performed for the King as he sailed along the Thames... the damp air on the river kept Handel from including percussion instruments...
Somewhere in the back of the room, I heard a whisper about declaring independence, breaking away from His Majesty's Britannic Empire. Probably nothing serious. never gonna happen.
3:08 even when the song ends, their positioning & formations are breathtakingly beautiful. That with the Period costumes & fully dressed Orchestra, is like seeing a painting in a Museum.
it's so beautiful and unreal... i can't believe that once people had this kind of life.... incredible
What is romanticised is the hedonistic life of a very few that live on the backs of a the poor 95% of their nations. They own the lands and keep the people (peasants) in bondage and TAXES them on top of that ! Slavery, dire inequality and oppression that all along went against their God's will...!! Those handful lucky few are probably also heavily involved in slavery in the colonies.
The viewers here that go dreamy and hallucinate about the glory and beauty of that period would have been the hungry and sickly masses !
The French king and queen, friends and family ended up beheaded. The Russian tzar, family and cohorts ended shot with hundreds of bullets.
And I myself am NOT a communist nor socialist, just comfortable that I allow God to guide me daily....
Kōstlich, herrlich, liebenswert, zum freuen vielen Dank
Excelente, que maravillosa interpretacion, fiel representacion de la epoca.
People new how to enjoy themselves and have fun back then. Just beautiful!
I can't get enough.
So beautiful 🌺🌺🌺🌺👏
I really like the flair and emphasis of this performance. The Minuet especially.
Incredible dance for a Beautiful Music! Each complimented the other! Well Done!
I was once present for a baroque dance like this……high school seniors…..it was an experience of a lifetime…..sounds crazy but true……thank you…..
How lovely! What a fun! Slow movement that you can last one hour without being tirelessly. I wish I could invited such a party! I can turn back eighteen years old that very night.
The music is majestic, stil today. Love it !
Extremely Elegant!
I don't know if you are still checking these comments, but thank you for transferring this on to CZcams, as it might have been lost forever.
Incomparable
I'm glad I live in the current era, indoor plumbing and water, refrigerators, freezers, modrn medicine, and airconditioning. But oh, this is so beautiful, I wish I could visit the past and see things like this. Or hear the music at least, when it was new.
Those of us may not have participated in it but we/I enjoyed every moment of it!!!! Thank you so much!! It is so soothing!! Unlike what we're hearing today!!! Too much loud noise!!
I listened to several recordings of this -- this one is by far the most to my liking. Thanks for posting it.
@ Axel Oliver Yes for rich and noble families .. Glad that we are living in this age, with all the technology , The baroque music become available for any one who want to listen .
yes , it became very popular among all the people ... !
All that is is just your typical ballet dancing, mixed with square dancing, while wearing frilly-looking, baroque costumes, from July 1717 when that tune 🎶 was new.
This is all very, very impressive: music, costumes, & dancing! Wow they spared NO expense for this show!
💯 💐💐💐
I'd like to be born in the Baroque Age, obiously like an important person who could have access to this beautiful music~ This is so beautiful~
Excelente y elegante versión el arte en su mejor expresión
Wonderful performance all the way around
I want to join in! Love the music, dance, and clothes.
Lisa Davis There are plenty of us around who do these dances in costume.
Too bad no one in Newbury Park, California wants to join me. I need to move.
I am in the UK and lucky to have plenty of weekly clubs where one can learn these dances. There are regular Saturday dances (not in costume) too, and enough Costume Balls to fill a calendar.
Try Googling either "English Country Dancing" or "Playford Dancing" in your area. You may be surprised to find that there is a club. They don't seem to advertise very well.
I know a caller (or dancing master) called Mike Barraclough who emigrated from here and now lives in Phoenix Arizona, he teaches classes and arranges dances. Google him too. He may know of classes near you.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
Thanks for the information.
Me too :)
Enchantingly beautiful. Sublime. We lost that beautiful civilisation and replaced it with....rock, hip hop, and trashy pop ? Throwing out the gold...and now ‘enjoying’ plastic....Madness.
And to think they call it "progress"....
Amen

This is the grandmother of ballet.
Yes! Though in this performance it works backwards. These dancers were all Professional Ballerinas before they took on this assignment 😊
beautiful
que maravilla!!!! 💜 puedo decir que estoy enamorada de este estilo de música y baile , al puro estilo de la época barroco , no puedo decir más , me quede sin palabras , una completa maravilla. 😍
Muy de acuerdo con vos. Bendiciones
I would LOVE one of those dresses!! So gorgeous!!!
wish i was one of them
The epitome of elegance.
I wish I was an aristocrat from the 18th century to experience THIS music.
are you sure? No running water or electricity.
Increasing live expectance is only worth when there is something to live.
I wish I were an aristocrat, but taught all sorts of people how to dance and treated them well.
It's nice to dream😘, though as a woman you didn't have much of a say about anything, and all those etiquette rules!
Yeah, but you could be revolutianry and elegant at the same time tho. People could do lots to change the world back then, but they didn't do it.
Any conductor today who has not danced these dances has no right to conduct baroque music. The elegance in the music is organically reflected in the dancing.
Delightful. Thanks for sharing.
"Aristocracy" was not only dancing and making love day & night. There are many, many, many books showing how most of those people lived their lives in the army, exposed to death and severe injuries every day. If they came back (alive) to the Court, they *had* to be perfect, joyful and so on... And dance for the king who had sent them fighting. This is not my opinion, it's History.
Trumpets 🎺 and French horns!♥️❤️
Authentic Period instruments from mid 1700's! In fact the Harpsichord was Certified c1716 & played flawlessly thru the performance. Unreal!
Amazing, Beautiful, Marvellous, Flawless, Fantastic and Outstanding :-)
Costumes, idea, movie, scenery, performance and Performers - Out of Space!!!
Thank You :-)
p.s Pleasure, Honour and Thank You :-)
Perfect! I really love it! *.*
I love this. Classical music and its actual setting; truly amazing stuff!!
божественно красиво! Так близко душе. Хотелось бы так же уметь!
Imagine being expected to know all those moves.... And you only dropped in for a drink
Yet if you belonged in the room then you had been taught the steps through out childhood.
@@KatherineRogersI wonder how many other features of life were choreographed? It might have been stifling.
One would have been expected to remember all the movements as you notice there isn't a caller and wouldn't have been one in those days. There was a good chance of meeting your partner at these balls and if you weren't up to scratch, you would not have been considered. Yes I know something about historical dance.
@@EuphoftodayI hope that there was a parallel and robust bohemian culture. If so, they had better dance moves.
Back then Royalty and nobles were expected to learn ballroom dancing.
These gorgeous footage are beyond description , and full of admiration , acclaim and deep emotion
I'm just intoxicated with these gorgeous footage in Japan
From
Tokyo of the Land of the Rising Sun 🇯🇵
Without Handel ,
the music world would have been lonely and insipid
Elegant, Majestic, and graceful. take me back...Greetings from Ireland
So very beautiful
Really fantastic😍
so beautiful... i love this kind of dance.
Beatiful music
Love this so much!
Wonderful. I had the pleasure of visiting Haendel´s house in London two years ago.
Me encanta ...
This reminds me of square dancing back in my elementary school days.
I'd definitely go to this party...
Really extraordinary. Very complex routines. I can see where square dancing came from now. Thank you for sharing.
Me encantan estos bailes .. esta musica . Quisera una fiesta tematica de epoca . Como esta ❤. I love it
Magnificent ... thank you so much.
Música de reyes para reyes. Haendel es el número 1.

Gorgeous! Beautiful!
By far it’s my favorite of all time!
Enchanting!
I so much like the Handel's music!
You are wonderful! Beautiful music!
Very beautiful!!
Fantástico..Gracias..
so very nice!!!!!
i loved this!
My goodness, takes me back to my youth and having to learn these country and social dances. Intricate steps, timing so important and of course, then came along the waltz when men and women began holding each other for more than a touch of hand and oh goodness, what a kerfuffel that became! Girls dancing the waltz were thought to be very "fast" lol Men were taught dancing as well as women. Both species had to know the steps.
Thank you for posting this wonderful video!
Hermosos bailes. Gracias.
I love the music and the dresses :)
Hermosísimo , gracias.
ENCANTADOR como o ser humano pode ser!
Obg pela postagem:))
