    This is my first video about my new silicone molds. I got custom made master molds for my cup form, I am so excited to get to use this new technology in my studio practice. I hope you get something out of this video, let me know if you want to see more plaster making videos with more how-to information!

    Get a big plastic leaf bag and a rubber band to keep your large bags of plaster in. And a hand sander without any sandpaper in it will vibrate stuff really good.

    Great job Emily! those molds looks great, i recomend you to mix your plaster with a mixer or stick because if you mixed with your hands the plaster start the reaction earlier for the heat of your hands, and if it warm in your area try to use the coldest water that you have.
    keep it up i hope youre doing well!

      Do you mean the slaking (the process of the plaster being immersed in the water and left for a while to really absorb the water?) This term is normally used when bringing old hard clay back to a useable state. But its very simmilar to what she did in the video. Personally, I dont think its a nessesary step in plaster mould making and you risk the plaster going off before youre ready.

    • @roryburdack7426
      @roryburdack7426 Před rokem +1

      you pour a slurry of clay in and moisture is pulled out, you pour the liquid slip back out after some time and a layer of the clay is left on the mould. The process is called slip casting if you want to look into it more.

    To measure the volume of plaster required for casting into a mold you need:
    Place the form on the scale and reset the weight to zero.
    Fill the entire volume with water and get the weight.
    Multiply this weight of water by the density of the gypsum.
    Enjoy.
    Чтобы измерить объем необходимого гипса для литья в форму вам нужно:
    Поставить форму на весы и сбросить вес на ноль.
    Залить весь объем водой и получите вес.
    Этот вес воды умножить на плотность гипса.
    Наслаждайтесь.
