- Hi guys!
This is my first video about my new silicone molds. I got custom made master molds for my cup form, I am so excited to get to use this new technology in my studio practice. I hope you get something out of this video, let me know if you want to see more plaster making videos with more how-to information!
I hope you enjoy!

Where do you buy your silicon plaster molds?
Thanks for sharing! I'm taking a mold making class this semester and have successfully made one mold so far!
Wanted to see the end process !!! The form is beautiful
Amazing video emily! Can't wait to see more :D
Posting a video of me making my first mold soon, but I totally forgot everything when I tried to make my 2nd/3rd SO its nice watching others to find how others are doing it and best tips.
Get a big plastic leaf bag and a rubber band to keep your large bags of plaster in. And a hand sander without any sandpaper in it will vibrate stuff really good.
Great video!! thanks
Hi so beautiful ceramic cup and all
Great job Emily! those molds looks great, i recomend you to mix your plaster with a mixer or stick because if you mixed with your hands the plaster start the reaction earlier for the heat of your hands, and if it warm in your area try to use the coldest water that you have.
keep it up i hope youre doing well!
Thank’s to share! I didn’t know that silicon works for molds 🥳🥳 it’s so great! Do you know if its a special silicon?
Before pouring the clay you can use the vacuum pump in order to get rid of air bubbles :D
Do you mean using a vacuum pump to remove bubbles from the plaster she poured? What's the process?
where do you have those made??????
Great video Emily. Where can I get a silicone master mold made from my favorite mug? Anyone know the process?
You are beautiful 😍😍😍 i am happy that i found you 💖💘. Good job all best for you 🥰
Thank you for those infs
what plaster are you using
and do you just mix it with water
Hi there. Thanks for a great video. Which company did you use for your mold? I heard his name Josh but didn’t catch the company. Thanks!
Great
Thanks for this, very helpful. I haven't heard of the 'sleeping' stage before, did a little searching but can't find the reason why that stage is necessary. Liked and subbed :)
Do you mean the slaking (the process of the plaster being immersed in the water and left for a while to really absorb the water?) This term is normally used when bringing old hard clay back to a useable state. But its very simmilar to what she did in the video. Personally, I dont think its a nessesary step in plaster mould making and you risk the plaster going off before youre ready.
@@MrEverestPlayz Thank you.
Where do you get the silicone masters from?
Wonder that too
Where can i buy that green thing ?
Hello there and thank you so much for your video and for sharing :)
I wanted to ask, from a previous comment I see that you ordered your silicone mold from Josh Edgar Studios,
To have the mold made, did you send in a model (plaster, clay) prototype to make the mold from? or a digital file?
I sent a digital file, however I see that Josh EdgarStudios no long prpvides this service, but others do! You can find many by looking online
@@emilyrosewright507 do you know others that provide it? i havent been able to find any
I Thought you were going to show how you made the cylinder mould for the mug.
Hi Emily, where did you order the master mold from and is it your own design? Thanks for sharing!
It is my own design! I ordered it from Josh Edgar Studios, you can find him on Etsy!
Who are country
@@emilyrosewright507 Hey Emily,
I contacted the edgar studios and he doesn’t produce no molds any more. Where do you get your Silikon mold now from ?
Clara
@@LoLo-yx5dj Hi Clara - I live in South Africa. I just Googled "custom silicon mold makers" and found many suppliers in my area. I've emailed them now with a screen shot of Emily's mold from this vid and hope to hear back from them with positive news lol. Was thinking you could do the same as I did. All the best xx
This video Is so exciting, the material is too easy for search it, but it was expensieve too. I has got some reference from your tutorial, is this can be used for make plastic produce?. I though the mold can resist from temperature arrange 200°C, but i still cant try it cause expensieve issue. Is the mold have the high resist again temperatur?
typ 3 silicon is heat resistant to 450C you can Cast Zink with it. It has an red colour. you can get it an amazon.
Thanks for shearing! Where did you have the mold made?
Have the same question. Thanks for sharing the information
will it break easily
Do you sell those molds? If so how much?
اني فنانه ورائعه جدا 🥰
Hi Emily,
From where I can buy those molds, could you please release a complete video for casting mold and coloring or from where I can learn complete casting?
I plan on making more videos about mold making without the sillicone master mold. You can design your own and have it made by an artisan from Etsy. I used Josh Edgar Studios!
Where to get the mold made yo
🥰
Is something missing? I see the lid mold, the two sides, but was there a center piece to the mold, or is the center solid when poured?
you pour a slurry of clay in and moisture is pulled out, you pour the liquid slip back out after some time and a layer of the clay is left on the mould. The process is called slip casting if you want to look into it more.
How do the keys work if you are casting the same mold twice?
In the silicone master mold, one wall has the convex keys (sticking out), and one wall has concave keys (negative space). When they are placed together, they fit together!
Sorry, I'm from Iraq, how do I get this template?
3:59 - The only other person I've ever heard referring to 'slaking' is Radar O'Reilly.
Hi, what is the name of the powder that you mix with water?
I use #1 pottery plaster from USG
When calculating the volume, wouldn't it be faster and better to fill the mold with sand and then take the sand to a bucket and see the amount you need?.
That is certainly an option, I don’t have sand around the studio and I think it might be a bother personally. But whatever method works for you is great!
If you don't mind me asking what's the point of creating a mug or cup made of plaster if it's not food safe?
The mold is made of plaster, the plaster mold is used to make a clay cup.
Molding manager namaste sir ji 🌹🙏
You can melt the clay instead of sand
There is no melting as part of this process.
Ma'am can you teach me how to make mold
Your prompt reply will be highly appreciated
Wonderful video... Pretty female artist
I am trying to work in this field, needing support
To measure the volume of plaster required for casting into a mold you need:
Place the form on the scale and reset the weight to zero.
Fill the entire volume with water and get the weight.
Multiply this weight of water by the density of the gypsum.
Enjoy.
Чтобы измерить объем необходимого гипса для литья в форму вам нужно:
Поставить форму на весы и сбросить вес на ноль.
Залить весь объем водой и получите вес.
Этот вес воды умножить на плотность гипса.
Наслаждайтесь.
😄
You should really wear a mask when you work with plaster
if u need any 3d design file i can share with u
practice low voice and audition for the next elizabeth holmes movie

Not my cup of tea.
