      Good point. I'm in a place where I feel like Jordan Peterson is a prophet or a disciple or something great with a name I don't know.
      I remember the first time I saw a video of him. Students had surrounded him and were attacking him verbally. One of the students commenting about how she had seen him online and thus knew his positions and ideas. He responded by saying that there were over five hundred hours of him online, implying of course that she didn't have a full picture to back her judgment.
      The girl responds with something like, "Do you really think you're worth that much time?"
      All I can think now is, yes. Yes. Jordan Peterson is indeed worth that much time. And more.

    This is advice I've given to people in my life... yeah that guy has $5 million in the bank, but he's up to his eyeballs in debt, he's working 14 hours a day and his stress levels are astronomical. I've known plenty of successful people, and they are just people. Sometimes it's their dysfunction that makes them successful. I've met very few people that are 1 dimensional and deserve envy. You've got to be your own hero, your own rescuer, your own role model, because you're also usually your own biggest critic.

    Great advice. Not only can it be depressing to compare oneself to someone deemed "better" than you, but it can be a cheap ego trip to compare oneself to someone deemed "worse" than you. Take the log out of your own eye. That's the only way to see more clearly.

    Don't ever assume anyone else has a perfect life
    Richard Cory
    BY EDWIN ARLINGTON ROBINSON
    Whenever Richard Cory went down town,
    We people on the pavement looked at him:
    He was a gentleman from sole to crown,
    Clean favored, and imperially slim.
    And he was always quietly arrayed,
    And he was always human when he talked;
    But still he fluttered pulses when he said,
    "Good-morning," and he glittered when he walked.
    And he was rich-yes, richer than a king-
    And admirably schooled in every grace:
    In fine, we thought that he was everything
    To make us wish that we were in his place.
    So on we worked, and waited for the light,
    And went without the meat, and cursed the bread;
    And Richard Cory, one calm summer night,
    Went home and put a bullet through his head.

  • @charleshurstreinvention3959

    Exactly. The world is rough and mean. As Jordan Peterson said, "the world is against you . . . obviously." But as I told my own subscribers, many times the greatest enemy in life can be yourself. And you make yourself an enemy by comparision to others. If you make 80K a year and have 200K in the investment arenas you will feel badly if you have a friend who makes 250K and has a million in his. But you will feel good about yourself if you compare yourself to someone who makes 30K and has nothing in his accounts. But maybe that 250K person works 80 hours a week and hasn't had a vacation in ten years. The point is, your journey is yours. How much you want to work and gain to get the greatest benefits you can from your short time on earth---and most of those benefits, my friends, are not financial. Hope this helps someone----Charles

    Imagine giving your life to a career, working hard to be the best and getting your dream job.
    Imagine the guy you replaced you know for being fairly easygoing and lazy but talented.
    And then those colleagues telling you after a few drinks that you aren’t a patch on the old guy despite you’ve worked harder.
    This rule doesn’t help me as I feel nothing but burning rage at how easy it is for some and how murder hard everything is for me.
    It didn’t matter if I’m better than I was yesterday, that just seems like what losers tell themselves.
    He will always be the winner as he managed it on half the effort.
    It makes me want to kill myself and has destroyed the happy vibe I had before. Literally want to smash my house up and can barely work now. It’s totally destroyed my self esteem all week

    It's all well and good, but self-improvement also means in Peterson's own words "burning off the dead wood" and "dying and reviving like a Phoenix". The ego doesn't want that, the ego fears that. "Suicide is wrong" is what the ego is saying. "You don't know if you'll get better". Any advice on getting around that?

    • @CAepicreviews
      @CAepicreviews Před 6 lety

      Honestly, having gone/going through it myself, I know it's hard - It's just gotta die and be reborn like that Phoenix. The ego fears it, but it must be done. The ego wants to protect itself but the only way to burn off that dead wood, is to start the fire and let it burn. It's why people who do change, typically only change once they hit rock bottom.

    • @ishans4230
      @ishans4230 Před 6 lety

      Sky Lord Panglot it's simple if you think about it. Let time be like an equation. If it's a priority for you you will find time for it. Say I ask you at the beginning of the week to help me in Math for an hour each day. You'll say I don't have time for that I'm busy. However the very next day your Phone stops working. You find time to go to a store and get it repaired because it's a priority for you. Simple.

    • @SkyLordPanglot
      @SkyLordPanglot Před 6 lety

      I cant agree to that. With this example you exclude the limit of your body of the equation. For example if I want to study a subject I need time to rest as well. I cant keep the brain working hard on memorizing constantly. Every person needs time for rest, time off and social activity. You cant just spend like 15 of your 18 awake hours studying.

    There are reasons why you shouldn’t compare yourself with the others today. First of all, you don’t know them. There are multidimensional ways looking at one’s life.(health, family relationship, career, friends, leisure activities, etc) Picking one aspect of their lives is not reasonable. It’s quite biased. Their lives are not the same as you. What you should do is lift up yourself to what you could be. There’s always something to do to improve yourself. Rather than being bitter and resentful by comparing yourself with other people in uni-dimensional way, you can straighten yourself up.

    • @UncompressedWAVmusic
      @UncompressedWAVmusic Před 2 lety +1

      @Enkiko 6 No absolutely not. Here's an Abraham Quote to explain why. "In order to help someone who’s in a very different vibrational frequency, you’ve got to adjust your vibrational frequency so that they can hear you. And if we were standing in your physical shoes, we would not adjust our vibrational frequency down-ever. We would not introduce more resistance in our vibration for any reason whatsoever, because disconnecting yourself from resources does not give them more to eat.
