Fixing A Fridge That Couldn't Breathe

I had a maintenance request come in for a freezer that wasn't cooling. I made my way over and noticed everything looked fine inside, but it felt really warm on the back side. I pulled out the fridge, removed the cover and sure enough, there was a piece of foam insulation jammed in the condenser fan preventing it from spinning and a thick blanket of dust over the coils. I got the foam out and gave it a quick clean and it was working properly again. I didn't record it but I cleaned the front cover and got more of the dust build up on the coils from the front side as well. Either way, pretty quick and easy fix to get this fridge breathing again.

Good on you for performing some needed maintenance on that refrigerator. I also make sure the defrost drain is open and clear of dust bunnies.

Definitely. Fortunately this one was clear and the pan had water in it. The condensate fan was jammed by the foam so the coil was overheating. Luckily no damage and a quick fix.
