It makes sense, before you give the mask to cassie as a staff bot, you are attacked by many corrupt staff bots who are controlled by Glitchtrap as seen in a charging tube. Cassie's dad must have gotten to close to the truth and put inside a staffbot that eventually helped Cassie because she is her daughter and Gregory because he recognised him as Cassie's friend.
