    I'm from Uttarakhand we don't have any such ceremony but I really appreciate this it. Periods are not a thing to be ashamed of. Celebrate it. 🙏

    in Assam we celebrate girls first period exactly like marriage,the girl is dressed up as a goddess,the elders, friends,brothers etc gives her presents and wisdom,there's no matter of shame in this kind of rituals,some people find it disgusting and shameful,I don't know why🤷

    In North India yet we don't practice this ritual but i still remember when i first got my period my mother called my all aunts and female relatives informing them about my first period.( I hope we start practicing it again)

    I live in North India (specifically Punjab) don't know anything about South Indian culture and traditions
    But I just love this ❤️ it all looks so nice

      This is not celebrated in all 5 Southern states nd just FYI it is celebrated in Odisha nd Assam also

    I think I may be hindu culture to celebrate such period all over the world but it may be vanished such system in North India due to mugal invader to protect their girl...
    Most of the hindu culture are maintained in south India because mugal invader did not attached or ruled as compare to north India

      This is not Done in all Southern states I'm from Karnataka myself we haven't done any ceremony like this but I have seen this ceremony in my Assamese friends house

    I am from North India... I was shocked to know about this ritual when my friend from South told me about that... I think there is no need to do this ritual.. Ek to bacha vese hi soch rha hota hai kya hora hai uske sath upr se usko ese treat kroge to vo or preshan ho jayega

      Why periods isn't something that shouldn't be ashamed of right let's celebrate her womenhood and till her first period she is considered as a small kid but after this she is entering to home as a women according to Hindu culture women have the superiority in home right(don't know about other state but in Kerala it is like that) so she got the superiority in her home that's it
