It's good. I'd still take several of the Toys Era sculpts over it, in particular the smug smirking sculpt, which for me nails both the likeness and his personality with its expression.

The Toys Era head sculpts look much better than this one, but that's just my own personal opinion. This head sculpt just doesn't resemble actor Anthony Starr as far as I'm concerned. I don't see the likeness at all. Otherwise, solid review! I really appreciate it! God bless and stay safe!
Still amazes me that people say the soosoo body is the most accurate lol, look at the fkn pictures of homelander in the show. He’s not that big and chunky!
Dean have you seen Antony Starr’s other show Banshee it’s absolutely amazing I think the headsculpt is definitely a improvement
I saw someone on Collector Freaks who drybrushed the SooSoo suit, I was thinking of doing it to mine
I can paint skintones good with my cheapo airbrush , but i suck at painting eyes. I buy so many unpainted heads because there are way better sculpts out there then actually come with most figures. So I have a collection of figures with great sculpts and goobly eyes right now. one of these days I'll figure it out and repaint all the eyes.I think it's just a matter of a magnifying glass and buying the right tiny brushes.
I've seen some artists using very small knitting needles to paint the pupils and bloodshot veins. I have no idea how artists manage to paint eyes using a brush, there's so little room.
It's so frustrating for me because I often see where many likenesses go wrong (Inart Joker oversized iris's, lack of bloodshot effects), but I don't have the skills and eyesight to make the fixes.
@@dangiambrone7350 It's really about having super expensive brushes that can stay pointed and wetting them just right. A steady hand (which i don't have) and super magnification, preferably strapped to your face.
Personally I'm hoping the new 3d printers that print color get better so we can just print out our head sculpts with 8k textures extracted from real photos. The tech is getting there.
I don't remember who the artist was but there was one that said they would print eyes in the right size on a regular printer, cut them out with an exacto knife and glue them to the sculpt. then use clear gloss over that to achieve perfect eyes. Sounds like a mess to me, but it could work I guess.
This sculpt still just ain't it. Looks good from the side but as soon as you see it from head on a lot the likeness is lost. Hair has too much volume and of course the paint is off.
Toys Era head on Soosoo body remains the superior display option imo.
Unfortunately this random headsculpt isn't quite up to snuff, compared with the one's from Toys Era and Soo Soo. If I purchased the Star Ace licensed Homelander, I would consider using this as a replacement headsculpt for that particular figure or in a kitbash. But the devil's in the details as they say, and the eyes 👀 on this ebay headsculpt are where this piece really falls down. Great comparison piece for content thought 👍
I would take this over the Soo Soo offerings on account of it having the more accurate sculpt and better likeness, but yes, the eyes and general paint apps on this sculpt let it down.
Dean I would love to see more film of the new head sculpt on the so-so body from different angles Etc full body Etc eye level vids and pics of it on your shelf looking up at it looking at it full body eye level etc, looking down at it full body etc It's kind of hard to make a decision on what to do with the head sculpt and soo soo body just from the footage you have here. This is a selfish ask as I have this sculpt and soo soo figure coming in the mail.
