Apologies for the lack of uploads lately. Things have been really busy for me over the past month. I didn't have time to write a new arrangement for this latest upload, so I decided to record the Mozart/Thalberg arrangement of "Lacrimosa" instead. This is an amazingly beautiful piece of music (some of you might remember it from the movie "Amadeus"-if not, check it out!).
Written on three staves, this piece is deceptively difficult. The biggest challenge is to balance the melodic line with the rest of the texture, which is often very thick and spread between the hands. Keeping a nice pace so that the lyricism can shine through is also a challenge.
Also, since this has been a particularly difficult time in the world for a lot of people, I added in something a little different to the video. Stay safe everyone. 🎼🎶🎶🎼

I find it hard for a "n00b pianist" to memorize and fully use muscle memory to play this without mistakes in 2 weeks.

Well, yes it is an arrangement since the original is a piece for large orchestra and this is a solo piano piece.
Also, Jonathan always creates his own piano performance arrangements for his videos.

One of the best, most well-intoned, well-articulated, well-balanced keyboard interpretations of Mozart's Lacrymosa I've heard yet - and that's an accomplishment, considering how deceptively hard it is to balance voice leading with music like Mozart's!

@@christianmccauley7340 actually a pretty famous composer rewrote the requiem to fit this specific anime. That's what makes it so iconic. The context also makes it chilling. It is Requiem Aranea by Yoshihisa Hirano
