  • @radehan
    @radehan Před 4 lety

    Haven't watched it yet, but if he's indeed as good as he claims it may be connected to his way of solving puzzles. Everytime he was playing Baba is you or something like that he was always looking what CAN he do, he tried to extinguish every single move. What I thought would be a better approach was to think what should he do and work backwards from it. In an escape room situation in contrast to classic puzzle you have to think what can you do, extinguish every option, sometimes the clues are not even connected (for example you find a lock and a code, naturally you try to put the code in even if nothing hints at the connection of the lock and the code).

    • @ashark8968
      @ashark8968 Před 4 lety

      In Baba is you he actually just slammed his head against the wall until accidentally winning, sometimes even had the solution and restarted because he isn’t thinking about how to win at all. Rather than “extinguish” every move it was more doing the same 2 moves over and over...

    I think for someone like NL you need to take away the undo button. He over uses it and trust to rely on it so much. If. He were to think for a few seconds on what needs to be done and why what he did didn't work he would solve these so much faster. There are multiple times where he has the puzzle solved but he is blindsided by it not being the solution he saw so ignores it, does it eating, and then just undos without looking at what he did. But all this said I love watching him play these, they may not be my favorite type of videos to watch and they may get me frustrated but there is something good about it. It lets me enjoy the satisfaction of solving a puzzle without me personally messing up. I would absolutely not solve then right away but having NL mess up takes the blame out of my hsad and puts it on him. 8/10 not enough Tomo

  • @adamtune
    @adamtune Před 4 lety +2

    Musician here - For the minor piano chords thing, they made a couple mistakes:
    Objective mistake:
    •Bd minor isn't anything. It should be Bb minor (B-flat minor). Flats are technically a different character, ♭, but most everyone uses a lowercase b to represent it while typing.
    Subjective (but, like, super definitely not ideal and therefore should be written differently unless it's specifically useful for the puzzle in question based on tonality, enharmonic spelling, etc.) mistakes:
    • Db minor would be more likely to be written as C#minor, given that Db minor has an Fb as its third, which is enharmonic for E natural. More info: Db minor only "exists" if we are in the key of Ab minor, or if it is used as a chromatic alteration of a Db major chord (aka a borrowed chord), but notably does not exist as a key in and of itself (Db minor cannot exist as a key for notation purposes, instead you have to write it as C# minor). Given that Ab minor has 7 flats, the maximum amount, it is quite rare to see that chord.
    • Gb minor is ALMOST NEVER going to be written as a chord symbol, given that it has Bbb (that's B-double flat) which is enharmonic for A natural. SOOO much better to write this as F#m. Gb minor cannot exist as a key (would require 8 flats, which is too many), and can only really exist as a chord in the key of Db minor, which also doesn't exist. It could be a borrowed iv (minor four) chord in the key of Db major, as one example, but again, is very rarely presented in this manner, as it's much easier to write F# minor, and more likely coincides with the spelling of the given key it's in.
    • Ab minor is quite rare, though it can legitimately exist in reasonable circumstances. Spelling it as G#m is more common, as it avoids the Cb as the 3rd in the Abm, which is enharmonic to B natural.
    More info: this is the most likely of the problematically spelled chords to exist in the wild, in my opinion. Ab minor can exist as a key (7 flats), and although it's ugly, musical theater often has to use wacky keys that are rough for instrumentalists to play in due to accommodations for vocalists, or for navigating key changes (7 flats could instead be written as 5 sharps, but if you were in the key of 5 flats and wanted to move to the key of G#m/Abm, which can be either written as 5 sharps or 7 flats, respectively, it makes more sense to go from 5 flats to 7 flats, than from 5 flats to 5 sharps. Going from 5 flats to 5 sharps is effectively 10 chromatic alterations, and it's like asking the player to suddenly go from thinking in Italian to thinking in Korean. Some people may comment and say "it's not really a big deal," but as someone who works engraving sheet music for film score sessions, yeah, it matters. Readability is super important, more so than people's musical ego).
    Just watched past the part where "dm" is relevant. It seems that the enharmonic spellings did not matter for the purposes of this puzzle. If they wanted to, they could have shown the chords as follows to avoid any nerds like myself from mentioning anything, for those who care to read this:
    Cm
    C#/Dbm
    Dm
    D#m/Ebm
    Em
    Fm
    F#m/Gbm
    Gm
    G#m/Abm
    Am
    A#m/Bbm
    Bm
    In no way, shape, or form, am I trying to come across as condescending or "flexing," etc. I just love music and love seeing it in media, but find that it is often mis-portrayed. For example, if I made a game that included a puzzle about photography, I would absolutely ask my friends who know about it to tell me how things work, etc., so that I would present it as robustly as possible.
    Truly none of this mattered and honestly probably no one cares; again-not flexing, etc.; just sharing my knowledge in this specific area in case someone watched the video and said "huh, I wonder if those chords are realistic, etc." Hope someone enjoyed this little discussion.
