"Baffling!" Women's Rights Activist TAKES AIM At New Scotland Hate Crime Law

- Women's Rights Activist Elaine Miller says she doesn't think the Scottish government thought through their new hate crime law properly.
Around 300 people protested outside the Scottish Parliament to oppose new hate crime legislation, with some saying they were prepared to be jailed.
A coffin bearing a sign reading “We hate hate crime laws” was decorated with masks resembling SNP leader Humza Yousaf and co-leader of the Scottish Greens, Patrick Harvie.
The Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act was described as “totalitarian” and “ammunition for bigots” amid concerns of tit-for-tat reports, with one man taping his mouth closed to show his opposition.
Elaine says: "It's completely baffling."

According to the recent polls the SNP will lose 22 seats in 2016 But they are all going to Labour who supported this bill. The Scottish conservatives who opposed the bill will be wiped out. The Scottish people must either be gullible or are happy with these draconian restrictions on their free speech. It will be interesting to see if Scots actually wake up in the next few years

What is one of the obvious contradictions of the new law is that, in protecting trans 'identity' but excluding women, it conflicts with the UK Equality Act, which *does* include sex as a protected characteristic, and also includes gender critical opinions as protected 'beliefs'. It also conflicts, too, of course, with Human Rights law in relation to freedom of speech. With this law on the statute books, I'm not sure how an independent Scotland would even be allowed to rejoin the EU as the SNP wish. It's a complete dog's breakfast.

So if a biological man comes into a hospital and insists he’s pregnant and in labour is the NHS got to waste resources on him, give him a bed, pretend he’s in labour and give him pain relief etc, then when he says he’s given birth what happens,has a baby to be given to him or a baby doll? This is not understandable unless resources are used to send him into a mental hospital. Of course if a biological fem arrives stating she’s pregnant but she’s really a male, indeed if she’s been doing sexual activites with a male she may be pregnant and give birth but that is proof she is female, not male. It’s really lies to say otherwise. And this new law in Scotland, does it mean that if nurses and doctors don’t play lie games, they get accused of a hate crime with a possible 7 year prison term? I am not understanding any of this. I fear for the elderly too, they will not call a ugly big hairy man who can’t pass for to look like he’s feminine, a female, they just won’t play that game, so are the prisons to be filled with old people guilty of hate crime, spending their last few months or years in prison? And is the NHS to be brought to its end through more pressures brought on it and staff put in prison?

What's astounding is the rapidity of enacting even the most draconian laws, no matter how outrageous or illegal (any constraints on free speech are by definition, illegal). Isn't there some sort of oversight that 's clearly spelled out, not allowing such foolish laws to even be introduced/accepted into what they call "law"? How long has THAT been going on?

There should NEVER been such categories as "hate" speech/crimes. Jurisprudence demands hard proof. Actual provable facts. What someone's emotional state IS is unprovable and irrelevant. And as this instance proves, such a absurd law is prone to be abused to harass unpopular groups/causes. And it didn't take the oracle of Delphi to see this coming.
