    Carlson has a new bismuth choke tube. I switched to bismuth this year, and i patterned my cremator chokes vs my high flyer chokes. They were almost identical patterns. I settled on the #5s with the HF full.

    I switched to the BOSS mid season to, I went with the 3” #4 and they worked great. I then bought the 2-3/4 #5 and they worked just as good even for late season mallards at 30-40 yards. I took a big Canadian goose at 30 yards with the 4 shot and that fat bird flipped. I use the Patternmaster choke but I’ll be testing some other chokes to.!

    I'm curious do Carlson choke tubes have that wade striper that causes more fragmentation in bismuth shot. It seems like a lot of the after-market choke tubes aren't feasible to shoot with bismuth shot. Thanks

    • @BlackBeltWaterfowl
      @BlackBeltWaterfowl  Před 2 lety +1

      I’m not sure to be honest, but Boss shells are copper plated/coated to stop fragmentation, there was a lot of research/science behind the design of their loads to eliminate fragmenting

    • @BlackBeltWaterfowl

      40 yards, I always pattern at 40, bc typically if you have a good pattern at 40 then you know anything inside 40 is good as well..

    Great video man im switching to boss this upcoming season and have a pattern master code black duck I've alwaysed used with steel and have had great results but boss recommended not pairing boss with the pattern master tube. Ill definitely pick up a carlson after watching this

    • @BlackBeltWaterfowl
      @BlackBeltWaterfowl  Před 2 lety +2

      I think you will be pleased.. I shot kicks for years, but when I paired the boss shells with the Carlson, I shot way better.. it was a very noticeable improvement. I hope you have the same results, but every gun is different, so you never really know how yours will perform with it, but every one I know who shoots a Carlson, stands behind them!

      @BlackBeltWaterfowl  Před 2 lety +2

      I can understand that. You would have to look on the Carlson website but they did have a package deal at one time, it was a 2 choke set, a MR, and a LR. Maybe something to think about, try them both see which one you like best.

  • @rickw6521
    @rickw6521 Před 3 lety +1

    Great video, you know i am going to try at least 2 boxes, 3x5's and 4's. If i can get the 4's to work like i do with my full choke and 3 steel then i will really like the 3x5's. And yes we had the texting on what i use. I think the problem i will have is i will have to give the boss a much bigger lead because they are much slower then the kent steel 3 inchers. I would be great if some one could do video with real shooting at a target with a speed of at least 20mph to see how much of a lead is needed at even 35 yards. And yes a camera with a wide angle lens to see and hear how much the person says they figure they are leading the target at.
    You know i like when you do compare products. How about showing shooting at the target also so we can see the pattern to. And i know that still targets aren't the same as moving targets but that is a whole new can of worms lol.

    Unfortunately we can't get boss shotshells here in Ca. I love the Carlson chokes as well I have the close, mid and short range. I also have had really good luck with the pattern master code black and anaconda series. I went away from kicks after one bulged out on me but the company was great about replacing it. I found my best shells last year were heavy hammer 3 shot, federal blue box 2 shot. Working for a sporting goods store im seeing the ammo crisis first hand if I were anyone I would buy waterfowl loads now.
