I had an absolute blast, and caught 5 really nice ones. The big one got away of course. lol. I’ve been wanting to try this for a couple years. Can’t wait to go out again. I believe Elmo would do quite well as comic relief in Branson Missouri. But I’ll bet he’s more content going fishing instead. We used to carp fish in downtown Knoxville, Tennessee right on Neyland Drive. With corn you could catch them until you didn't want to catch anymore. Being a couple miles from the house meant we even went on bicycles when we were too young to drive. With a car you could spend a half-hour and catch at least 2-3. Quick fun when you really didn't have time to go fishing.

Hey loved seeing ya letting that youngin reel that carp in best way to get them started even if its someone's else's kid ! I live in ky and was fishing a finns lake its lakes ky has established for fishing for inner city kids and grown ups to have a place to fish that live in the city game and fish stock them with catfish, rainbow trout,blue gills,bass,and crappie along with grass carp to keep vegatation down .if you have a ky fishing license or a kid it's a great place to fish we have 45 of these lakes across the state .I was fishing one time close to school letting out for the year for summer and and a couple busses bring out about 100 kids or so some with poles and tackle and most with nothing and the teachers of the class was teaching those kids how to fish and tie knots and bait lines well I could see they didn't have enough help and got to help teach what my dad taught me to kids I learned that was underprivileged children .first time in my life I have ever used up all my bait and had four of my poles fishing at one time with kids I didn't know ! But when the blue gills and catfish turned on I wish you could of seen the excitement on those kids faces when one would a fish it would the next ones turn to catch one we had about 10 single file fishing lines going that day and every kid that day got to catch at least one fish and they had brought hotdogs and chips and drinks to cook on the grills that the park provides and they invited me to eat with them !!! My heart was full and I wish I could of had a pole to give to every kid and the thank yous and friends I got that day on a fishing bank will forever I hold in my heart!!! One of the kids was an exchange student from Afghanistan and was the most inquisit ,most polite ,well mannered kid and wanted to know what kind of fish it,is it good to eat,can we clean it and try and I told him of all I could but the teachers would not let them keep any so all had to be returned to the waters. Some of the kids was fine with it and others seemed a little heart broken to let their fish go because they wanted to show mom or dad or their caregiver .they did take many pictures but it was a day that humbled me so !!! Getting to spend some time with these kids,to see them smile just because of a fish ,for them to forget their problems just for a day and God letting me be a part of something I never expected to teach fishing and share some knowledge I learned from my dad and you and to make many friends while fishing sharing what you have ! Yes we lost fish,yes we broke lines,yes we lost some hooks and sinkers and used all our bait we left that bank with full hearts !!! I will probably never see any of those kids or teachers ever again and pray for them all that God makes a few Fishers of men from them !!! And I pray all do well in life that they take the time to teach someone and show kindness to those less fortunate! Thank you Mr Gene the fishing machine may the good Lord bless you and your family and remember take a kid fishing if you can cause its GOOD FER YEE !!! ❤

Strawberry jello, plain Panko breadcrumbs, and sweet corn is the best homemade carp bait. Catches tons of whole fryer channel cats too here on lake fork.

We fish for buffalo alot where I live and we'll bait a hole with range cubes in the evening then go back at daylight and bait with doughballs made from range cubes and flower mixed into dough bait. Works really well

Boy we've caught carp on everything i believe, from the old Van Dough package bait you could get, from bait shops, the vanilla and strawberry flavors were the best, but I used to mix up all different kinds of dough ball to catch Carp on and the best i ever made was canned sweet potatoes and wheaties or bran flakes, that's dang good bait, just two ingredients, course you could add some wheat germ to it too as an attractant.

To be more specific from what you were saying..
When you chum the water with the method feeder over a period of time and many start to come in to feed, the carp get real competitive with each other and go into a frenzy, feeding quickly. IE the bite is on.
Sometimes if you are only catching 5 to 10 pounders that means there are several out there that size and the larger ones (20+ pounders) are waiting for them to finish feeding to move in.
So if you dont catch one thats much bigger after a while, move down the bank a ways and cast out there.

Got one of those fins stabbed in me trying to get one untangled out of a cast net one time. Has barbs on it that make a mess when they come out. Learned a lesson the hard way that day.

I have never used feeders, but I have chummed with corn for a day or two before I fish.
Been spooled many times ,there are giant carp in the Ohio river .
Landed a few 30 + but if any bigger you will lose the fight .
Sadly I've had to get a stone to sharpen my hooks to sticky sharp. Years ago every hook id touch even your plain J hook would stick to your finger tip. It's sad I have to spend 5 to 10 minutes sharpening hooks. I miss those old school hooks where they were alot sharper. Of course you put a descent amount of pressure sharpen a hook then take a breather. After sharpening several hooks your hand will get tired. That's why it's important to carefully line hook up and put some pressure on the hook while sharpening.
Keep your powder dry and your line wet great job my friend 👍🙏😆
The easiest way is to chum with cheap dog food every day at the same time. Once you have them trained you can cast into the feeding carp with a piece of dog food on a hook. It works every time.

My Dad had me cut my teeth on Carp fishing, way back when I was 5-6 years old, and we lived in Chicago then, until I was 7 then we moved to KY, anyways he liked to fish the Des Plains river up there, that thing was full of carp and after we moved to KY, we'd go to Ohio visiting relatives, and then we'd go to the Great Miami river Carp fishing, and that thing was full of carp. Oh yeah, and I'm 65 now.

They call 'em grass carp. Cause they primarily eat vegetation in the water.

Great tactic to teach people. I hat when I see people tossing handfuls of cand corn into the water to carp fish. Especially if there are trout in that body of water. It kills smaller fish and trout, especially. They can't digest the corn or crap it out, so it gets impacted in their digestive track and kills them.
We used to use a piece of lady's pantyhose, to hold bait, like chicken livers and corn, or even dough.
Wrap your bait in that and tie it good, then put your hook in it, and give it a toss.
Them fish don't care about the pantyhose, they just wanna eat!
I just have to mention that it is good to promote local fish and tackle shop instead of promoting the big, billionaire big box store. We have two local fish shops that would probably go out of business to the big stores. Buy local.

I've never carp fished before. It's been a while, but i do miss catching catfish 😢. Next week ill try bagging 2 to 3 descent bluegill and chunk them. Then hopefully ill catch catfish. Ill go back to local pond because they closed the area now where kids swim. I wish these kids had a swimming pool area with a life guard for the kids to swim. That way us fisherman can have the pond. They need to start fining people for throwing trash in the pond and the woods. This upsets me very much its just not right. Ill bring gloves and bags and clean up the trash. Ill clean up the trash if i see it. If the person doesnt pay the $500.00 for littering make them do community service to work off the fine for a month. Each offense double the fine. After 3 strikes the person is banned permanently from the water. 😊 rest assured people will stop littering. ❤
