    SEATTLE TRIP SERIES 2023 - Day 5 Episode 6
Starting the Day with some food and beverages at the Starbucks Reserve Roastery in the Capitol Hill area. Not many of these reserves exist, so got to check it out. They serve more specialty coffees, so be aware of it, but there food is actually fairly good, which we did not expect. It's then off to our first ever visit to the Ballard Locks. If you haven't gone, we highly recommend. You get to see the ship, vessels, and boats move through the canal as the water elevator goes up and down based on the direction of the vessel, and the body of water - Puget Sound or Salmon Bay. On the other side of the canal is the salmon ladder, which was actually more full than we expected. Altogether it was a great stop and Ballard seems like a cute quaint town. Next up is the International District, first for some bubble tea and smoothies at Seattle's Best Tea Co then off to a quick tour of Chinatown. We enjoy some time in the Japanese district, specifically the Uwajimaya Village Center with their Food Hall full of various specialty restaurants, a Japanese bookstore with lots of pretty cool items as well as an upstairs of just anime based items, and a Japanese/International based market where we could find some awesome asian goodies. Dinner is at the Dough Zone for some Dim Sum. This place was pretty darn good. We really enjoyed the food and the time spent here. Finish the night with lots of fun and great desserts at Hot Cakes Molten Chocolate Cakery. If you love chocolate, you are going to love this place. Delicious lava cakes on a wooden tray with ice cream and themed condiments. So Good! Stay tuned until the end to see some hilarious bloopers and fun with the boys.
Next Up is our slow day of fun as we return to the International District for some Korean Hot Dogs with Sugar and Potatoes, a visit to Pioneer Square and it's surroundings, a wonderful Birthday Dinner at Spinasse in the Capitol Hill Area, and a dessert stop at the Koren based shave ice - Snowy Village. It's another great day with the family in Seattle.

Lots going on Today...Couldn't do the trip to Leavenworth, so decided to improvise and start with a late start at the Starbucks Reserve Roastery. Lots of specialty coffees, and not many every day coffee options, but the food was actually pretty good. Spent some time at the Ballard Locks for the first time. That was interesting and fun. Definitely recommend visiting the place at least once. The time we spent at the International District was great as well. Found a Japanese/International village with a food court, a pretty cool bookstore, and a Japanese Market; toured Chinatown for a bit; and finished the night with a wonderful dim sum dinner at Dough Zone. So Good! Topped the night with a stop at Hot Cakes with some great molten chocolate lava cakes with ice cream. Also, so very good. This was a truly fun day.
