    Fantastic fun piece of work. But WTF! attaching the arms before finishing off the base man that must have made you twitch during the finishing. Great piece, thanks for sharing

      Heid Bumbee x I was thinking the same thing. Id have attached the nose & arms once off the lathe. Nice dimensions on the head, hat and bottom. Nice burning technique too.

    I'm a year off here, just came accros your snowman and I think it's over-the-top. You have all the details and the dedicated stand to boot. A remarkable piece and the beech timber appears fun to turn, I've never run accros it so I'll have to keep an eye out for it. Thank you so much for the enjoyable video, it lifts the spirits. Brad

    Great job I make a few of these but I cheat on the holder I cut the recess with a fostner bit then clean it up I get a great fit that way and I'm going to pinch your idea on the arms I have always used twigs from our trees anyway Merry Christmas from Downunder

    Sweet snowman, always a classy choice, loved how you burned those lines using a hard wood, I use a piece of formica, just because my architect wife have full folders of formica samples she gets from contractor and the kids have maxed out the fun to be had with those... :) good job on the pyrography as well! Good luck man, and a merry Christmas!!

    • @SteveTwoodturning
      @SteveTwoodturning  Před 8 lety +1

      Hey Yuval!! Yep the friction burning is a nice effect alright, simple too! I'll give you my address and maybe you can pass on some of those samples ;-)...

    Excellent! New turner, new subscriber! Steve, what kind of wood did you use for the burning embellishments?

    • @SteveTwoodturning
      @SteveTwoodturning  Před 4 lety

      Hi, I used a strip of plastic coated hardboard, the kind of stuff from the back of cheap flatpack cupboards ? But you can use formica, plywood, or even a bunched up paper towel ...

  • @DennisDolan-fl3mw

      Hey Steve - what is it your using to burn the hat rim and highlights?

    • @SteveTwoodturning
      @SteveTwoodturning  Před 7 lety +1

      Hi Janice, I use a piece of hardboard with laminate on it, like laminated flooring board ..... but you can use any piece of hard wood that will cause friction.... make sure it has a smooth surface though, to stop damaging the work piece.......
      Hope this helps, Regards Steve.
