    CVP-809 gp owner here. But so much is similar. Thank you for this. I do this all the time and get asked what arrangement I’m using. Adding a drum track to Free Styles really throws them off. Sharing tracks from one style to another via style creator makes this all infinitely possible. Thanks for sharing. Now if they’d add a second layer option to the CVP SERIES it will change my world.

Great to see you back with another video (I have to say I was a little worried as you haven't posted a video for a few weeks). It is pleasing to hear you express, that although a lot of Yamaha styles are song specific, with creativity we can use them as you have suggested with muting tracks and making them more generic.

    The Genos 2 for a few days at home, I was happy with the sx900, but what a world of difference, you haven't said a word too much about how great the quality of the Genos 2 is and how you can make subtle changes in the accompaniments to to make everything sound natural and musical. And how it helps to create your own songs. Thank you for recommending the Yamaha HS speakers. I also purchased the epic strings 2 at the same time. I am a classical/jazz pianist. For gigs with other musicians I use the Kawai ES920, which far exceeds the piano in the Genos 2 in terms of piano sound and touch. I notice that the vocal harmonizer in the Genos 2 is much more responsive than that of the SX900. I look forward to your next inspiring video. Thank you from the Netherlands.

    I am so glad that I had found your videos about Genos 2 couple months ago. I had this pleasure to grab one for me and I am so happy! When I sit next to Genos 2 I already know that world won’t exist and time will stop for these hours and hours of pleasure playing. Sound of this instrument, the possibilities are just amazing. That’s true that there is always something to improve, but isn’t this an evolution of technology? Maybe some features will be even more improved, maybe not (those sliders - personally I like them as they are), but I know already that Genos 2 changed me musically, improve my improvisation, open huge possibilities. For me Genos 2 is almost perfect. I wish that in the future (maybe through some software updates or in Genos 3), there will be more “live control” over guitar strumming while playing guitar “without band”, some solutions with connecting harmony/arpeggio with Pads, and seamless voices changes from one to another. It would be wonderful if we’ll get also graphical piano roll interface to edit styles, phrases, chords. After all this instrument is perfect for me. I am enjoying it every time when I start to play, and every time I am blown away where it takes me among musical expression, pleasure, excitement and ecstasy.
    And the last thing I want to say is that I have some sort of luck, while I don’t recognize so many style, which are inspired by popular songs, so my creativity could be even more free and accessible than for some other people there. I agree that all of these can we use in everything else than those original ones. The key is musically and creativity (and maybe some good sheet music 😅).
    Best regards from Poland!

    As a gospel musician Yamaha has made a lot of style catering to many popular gospel songs but for the lesser known songs I have to do that a lot of mixing in order to use styles without making it obvious of the song it was made for. I also like to do that to bring new life for older Hymns.

    Hi , totaly agree with you, I was going to write a comment on the vid you're talking about last day and redirect him to your amazing Ave Maria that you've done with a style. You're not stock at all ! Just take for example a style wich you don't recognise the song. I'm pretty sure, you'll play something good with it and you're not stock on!
    I've got this keyboard for 3 weeks now and Oh my, never heard something so natural , so easy to program, so ergonomic so versatile in the differents ranges of tones, styles and sounds. Ok it doesn't have wood on the sides, it's not made with alu, but come on guyz, the most important in a instrument is the sound ! and this thing got it ! I'll never regret to spend so much money for it.I just need someone who takes time to make an Excel list with all the style and their caracteristics (for example 4/4, 98 BPM...) not to pass 1 hour searching a rythm that suits the song I wanna play.😅

  • @GreenBoy9000
    @GreenBoy9000 Před 27 dny +1

    This instrument really is a beast to be reckoned with. Did you know there's a style called ElectroSwing in the Jazz category? I did, and all it's done is bring nothing but smiles and laughter to my face.
    I may not have the actual keyboard in my possession, but I've been able to start a bit of a project of sorts, where I take styles from the Genos 2 (and other keyboards) and adapt them for my DGX-670.
    The real I suppose, "daunting" thing about doing this would have to be the Revo drums (hi-hats especially), and the new MegaVoice velocity maps. Sometimes, it really helps a ton if you have the data lists of the respective keyboards. That along with MixMaster and OTS Changer, the programs I use, really helps give me wonderful results!

Respectfully to the individual involved, it does appear that he seems to have missed the point a little. I did leave a comment myself suggesting an alternative way of approaching ‘soundalike’ styles mentioning pretty much everything you’ve covered here. So far no word back. 😢. In fairness, the complexity behind professional style writing is considerable and understood by few . I can’t imagine how one could ‘simplify’ it from a technical point of view. But who knows what the future might bring 🤔

    Let's just face it, Yamaha is just ace! Even with my psr-s650, I've got some really great product. And it amazes me how Yamaha can improve on things that are already good. I use my keyboard a lot recently to create backing tracks for Songs where there isn't one available already, for stuff I do with my friends. I hope I can upgrade at some point to psr-s775 or something. Genos might be too much functionality for me. But just listening to this on your channel now, I'm going through what you go through when you play it.
    Edit, when it comes to strings, they really should default to using the ensemble string voices available on the psr-s650. They're all usable. I agree, the new strings lack this lushness and the chorus you get from real orchestras.
