The original by British singer Tanita Tikaram was released in 1988 when she was 19, not exactly sure her age when she wrote it, and she is also a contralto. It's interesting that this version by Diana has been changed from the minor key of the original to the major key, the exact opposite of what they did with Can't help falling in love!
Personally I think this is the finest cover that I have heard Diana do, there is just something about the tone that is so pleasing to hear!
I remember it well and was going to recommend it to Miss Siyko .. as a source.
They slightly lifted the tempo in places .. Tanita did it as a slightly darker version. 🤔😎
She is a talented musician. composer and songwriter. In fact she would possibly make a sympathetic mentor and collaborator for Diana because she is another rare contralto voice.
I listened to quite a bit of her performing from home in lockdown last year.🎧👍🏻😎

A great journey of discovery for her. I believe all her fans had no doubt that she could sing any song, any genre, any language and make a great performance out of it! So far, 4 very different songs and performances have proven she can handle anything! This was a real "grown up" performance for Diana and she was very convincing! Great reaction MiMi Next Saturday is a Russian Rock song and Diana will perform in front of the original artist! Interestingly, Diana knows the song well and has performed from very young! Yep, it was in the late 80s. Big hit back then by Tanita Tikaram. One of those hits you have in your head, but don`t remember who did it. This is about ideal for Diana`s voice. Great cover!
If there is anything to criticize, then the use of too much effect on the mike. They like to do that on TV. And yes, I think it`s Diana`s best performance there.

Loved the original. Tanita has such a nice low voice too, still remember her from my childhood. The original had a bit creepy video or somewhat disturbing for me, can´t remember why but I did not like it. Song is catchy as it gets though and always enjoy listening to it. And of course Diana is wonderful here as always :)
