  • Filler metals undergo rigorous testing to ensure they provide proper impact toughness to endure rapid loading, extreme temperatures or other stressors.
The Charpy V-Notch test is the welding industry’s most common method of measuring a weld’s toughness and involves multiple steps - from preparing a test plate to cutting and baking sample blanks, adding a notch to the specimen and more. Watch as Robert Fox, marketing specialist and welding engineer at Hobart, demonstrates and explains each step in the testing process and discusses its importance in determining a filler metal’s mechanical properties.

Thank you for making this video. Trying to understand what my textbook was trying to say was a little bit painful. This make much more sense.

Came here for the info, stuck around hoping you're a union company. Smart stuff either way. Tho I'd have added that your pendulum testing platform is standardized to "the highest scientific standard" assuming that it is the basic scientific standard and you're not cheating the system by making and operating a pendulum machine that leads to false conclusions of your own material jointings. That'd be weird. Lol.
