They couldn't believe the difference in sound quality and insisted that my analog vinyl had to be a remix. Now both Grandkids want turntables and "real" sound systems that will convert their digital recordings to analog for Christmas, and I'm happily complying. Yes children, there's more to music than digital copies and an iPhone!

The TV airings and VHS copies are not able to do this, but the original footage can be used to upscale properly. This is how a lot of old movies get proper Blu-Ray releases, because the original footage was available to pull frames from.
Can we also give a shoutout to the audience? I’ve seen a lot of Tori Amos live performance videos and the audience doesn’t know how to shut up most of the time!

@mikeltreycoale You can go see videos from 1969 Woodstock that are of similar quality. For the most part, analog video can be scaled up very easy. Just TVs and the distribution media (vhs, dvd) were highly compressed, so you don't think of old video being near the quality we see these days.
@byronx11 all cinematographic cameras have even better resolution than 1080p, i dont know exactly when the appeared but i think somewhere in 80s, probleme was that there were no media wich can store that wealth of information. so old records in hight resolutian store in warehouse in original resolution. and now, when we have Full hd screens etc, directors convert old records in Full hd ;)

We are facing an epidemic of poor quality video and audio...especially audio, people used to be much more serious about the quality.
