They are called formative years….I guess they are never over…. Catching myself resorting to these Tori-Montreaux-Videos for years…these performances are just PERFECT
Funny I came across your comment. I was living with my girlfriend at the time when I was 24 years old. She belonged to that rip off Columbia Music House scam- maybe that’s we broke up??! Anyway, after she moved out I kept receiving her CD’s for about a year. Under The Pink was one of those CD’s I kept because I was an asshole. Never unwrapped it to I met an another amazing gal and married her in 1998. My new bride when we moved unwrapped that CD. We listened to it here and there- but it was my ex’s album- not mine. Fast forward me and my bride have three amazing daughters now. Our oldest when she was 9 started playing piano. Of course- she gravitated to that old CD. Listened to it relentlessly. Played it on our newly required piano over, over, and over again. In the years following I took ‘the heir’ to dozens of Tori’s concerts over the course of 10-12 years or so. But, it wasn’t till Covid I actually put that CD on and listened to it. Now, there is very few days that I don’t listen to Tori’s music. Took me 25+ years- but you’re absolutely correct.
@@heaven-sent_and_hell-bentdoesn’t sound like that creepy female-impersonator has been very nice; but then I suppose there’s a lot of people who’d say such things about Margaret Thatcher.
I remember discovering this song and this woman in 1992 as an impressionable teenager and feeling as if I had come to life. I still get this feeling every time I listen to her.
Little Earthquakes is a master work of composition alone, let alone the writing, the singing, and the keyboards. Truely one of the greatest musicians to walk the face of the earth. Thanks for that! You get nothing but love from Santa Cruz California. Excellent taste!😊
I'd be honored if some Tori Amos fans would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of PRAYING FOR TIME by George Michael and WALKING IN MEMPHIS by Marc Cohn in tribute to 2 early 90s standards. Live acoustic with no autotune. Peace and stay safe.
Ive seen her live 10 times. Shes amazing. She plays 2 pianos at once all of the time. A lot of people are saying on the grammy commercials. Omg! Toris been doing it for years. Writes. Composes. All of her own songs.
She is so unintentionally beautiful. It drips from her like painful memories. Wish I could have met her when she came to Lex, Ky and played. The wife and I were silently stunned the whole show.
she is so real. pure art. pure truth. absolutely gorgeous. this song meant so much to me when i was a young girl. we are so hard on ourselves. its nice to hear what the goddess has to say at age 50. always giving hope to girls,(and boys) everywhere.
Goosebumps. I’ve been in love with this song since I was 9 and only now, two weeks before my 39th birthday, do I reflect on the lyrics and come to the conclusion she’s talking about my adulthood. It makes it hit so much harder.
I remember being mid to late single digits old and hearing this track. Took me 30 plus years to truly get it. Such a perfect storm of melody and pain, played by absolute genius.
I've listened to her captivating soul tingling music since 1992 she's a angel with a rare gift thank you Tori for your incredible music I named my daughter Tori and she's 24 now that's my tribute to you
I'm a long time fan...this is just an amazing performance and the emotion just sits out there for the audience to pick up. They almost seem stunned when the end of the song comes about.
I mean this in the most respectful way possible. Tori plays the piano so sensually. It is clear there is an almost romantic relationship between her and her instrument.
by 94 every song was met with roars by the first note... this is so refreshing to see again from back then... she is a unique talent, I really don't care when people speak of other performers, we all know the comparisons, but there is some reason Tori speaks to our souls ... and that is enough for me.
How Tori plays with audience is amazing, look at her eyes @2'15, she's beautiful, I feel like she talks individually with each and everyone in the crowd. A true great talent in an real artist's body... OMG, I felt in love again with her, don't tell my wife!
I love her hands on the piano, I love her eyes that explore and study you, I love her rebel hair, I love her voice speaks the life... The only and unique Tori ...
this is the most beautiful ive ever seen her look. not trying to be sexy. and provacotive..which is sexy in its own right. but pure and truthful and true to the nature and feeling of the words of the song. very beautiful live version of the song
I don't know about other concert lovers but Tori is this anomoli that when she's goes on stage you shut.the.fuck.up. especially when playing me and a gun when you thought the audience couldn't be anymore quiet you could hear a pin drop. I mean we clap of course but no singing along no nonsense and it's actually really amazing it's like your in this bubble that's floated out into space and it's just you and her and the piano and it's breathtaking, she's breathtaking,.you don't go to her concerts you experience them it almost feels like a gift, never mind that her set lists are some 😊 always perfect and unless she takes liberties with her songs here and there improves you could swear your listening to actual tracks she's crystal clear and the sound is perfect honestly the price of a ticket it's like what are you willing to pay to have your soul refilled , I dunno a freaking kingdom. Her ,her concerts songs lyrics are so much more than the sum of Thier parts it's amazing. There's all kinds of experiences and no hate to singing along I don't other concerts it's just something I've noticed has anyone else? Its like you get 2 and a hours on Jupiter with just her and a piano how do you put a monotary value on that. Its amazing. Like Fiona apple could have been right up there but like dumb swaying hippies would ruin the view and it was like not an outside thing so they were blocking so many people it was a travesty but still good. You want alien ,go to Tori Amos.
A true talent. I was so into her at this time. She was the US Kate Bush. I have recently started listening to Tori's music again and she was beautiful and so vey sensual. Married of course now though....ah well.
A hugely talented woman, who knocks you out with her great songs, and quite fabulously sensual performances, on so many levels..! Have always regretted that the equally great, and inevitably compared, Kate Bush, couldn't continue to perform like this... She was pretty special at the piano, too ...
Yeah, drawing comparisons with Kate Bush are certainly warranted due to the initially undeniable similarities. However, if one considers a perspective that is somewhat based on song context and life experiences, I've often found myself feeling that, though highly similar, Tori has somewhat transcended past the comparison. Bush was somewhat "bred" into her artistic lead role of being a highly talented female pianist from quite a young age and therefore many of Kate's hits from the early part of her career consisted of songs that I don't feel were quite as "lived in", nor mature in their message as Amos's songs were. When Tori finally got away from that weird, "electro-pop(?)" type sound that was mostly forced upon her by her label (since, I think it was Atlantic Records execs were holding her back artistically), particularly during the "Y Kant Tori Read" phase of her early career in the very late '80s, she'd already had such a deep pool of poetic life experiences itching to be brought to life through music, whereas for Kate, the songs she had put out did indeed share an undeniable harmony with Tori's songs years later. Tori's musical content, and possibly even more importantly, the context of Tori's songs and no hold barred raw emotion was a big part of the difference between these two superstars' catalogs. When digging deep into Tori's daring and vulnerable expressiveness that never pulled any punches, I think it elevates her beyond Kate Bush. But even though I've somewhat shown that I've "picked a side" so to speak, that isn't the case at all. They are both equipped with raw, other-worldly talent that so few humans are ever able to realize to themselves across the span of their entire lives, let alone to be practically born with it in the sense that Kate and Tori were certainly blessed to be.
It's 2020 and I'm still mesmerized by her voice, talent and beauty. Thank you Ken J.for introducing me to her 25 years ago. I miss you greatly chum, and listening to Tori will always help keep your memory alive in me. RIP.

Tori is a beautiful musical genius, her songs are so exquisitely written and performed.
pouring her guts and emotion out. Un freakin real

This is what real talent sounds like. Alone playing a piano straight up live, actually better than the studio version.
