That unforgettable sound of steam and whistle is like going back in time.may be the Railways should think about promoting steam tourism to show these beauties to the world.
Mind-blowing, Excellent, Outstanding, Awesome Itna bhi kahu na firbhi kam hoga Mere hometown me Steam BG Loco 🤯 Tab main to 7 saal ka tha 😢 Thanks a Lot 🙏🏻 Sir for Capturing this Historic Moment
Thanks for your comments. It may be so in some cases , however the above video clip is a 'real' tourist charter service organised by Indian Railways for a British Tour group in 2008. There was about 30 foreign tourists in the coaches.
I think they use such vintage engines for maintenance purposes now. The actual purpose of doing this is to keep the engine functional and eroded with time. Which is why they attach coaches also. Those coaches may not have any passengers except for Railway employees. All-in-all, it is strictly maintenance and/or a dry run for heritage runs.

@@goju050207 Because although in 1947, the first batch of these 16 locomotives came from Pennsylvania (America), the next slot of 300 engines came in 1949 from Ontario and Montreal (both in Canada). This may be the reason (I don't know)
@@aveekraymukherjee3386 Of late I have become interested in Steam Turbine Locomotives and trying to find if any of these locomotives still in service in any part of the world. If you have any info please help me finding one.
I don't get it. In UK there are so many steam locomotives functional daily. Even on mainlines. They've got so many operational steam locomotives in perfect running condition. Why India can't have the same. There are steam locomotive trains in France, Germany, USA, Russia, China, SA etc. But not India very sad.
Coal is definitely becoming lesser in this world. Plus, coal smoke adds to pollution, more than diesel. Maintaining steam locomotive is not simple & easy
It all depends on the loco. It could be as less as 3 coaches or it could be 100 coaches too as in the case of the Big Boy Union Pacific of USA which is the largest steam locomotive ever built in the world.
@@NavazuddinShaik Yes but those first 316 WP engines which were produced and came directly from USA and Canada, had roaring whistles (unlike normal general British-made and/or British-modelled WG steam ladies). Later, when these WP locos started to be made in India, especially in Chittaranjan, they were fit with traditional Indian high-pitch steam whistles.
Thanks for such vedio my father ex railway employee in my childhood i enjoyed by travelling in steam engine as my father is running the train to Puri.

Please arrange such trips often
I traveled on one such run in January 2007. The train was hauled by WP 7200 that still had the old American whistle, not this shrill one.

No. They could pick up to 100 kmph. Frontier Mail used to run in this speed when hauled by these newly imported American/Canadian dark goddesses
This is WP ( canadian ) ,BG The most Romantic Steam Loco
The Original Horn was BREATHTAKING
Why they were called Canadians ?

no, steam engines don't operate any more. except toy trains, they are out of service.
Sir, I have a query.
How many passenger coaches did a steam locomotive pull in the broad guage lines???

Bulleid Whistle.
Indian Railways alsways 🗿🗿
is it there still???
Yes it is kept there in siliguri NJP station
I hate that fkg whistle because beasts don't roar like cat watch US's SP4449 Or Big boy Locomotive whistle.
WP Locomotive's whistle much more bass-voiced, with deep and grave sound🔊
@@aveekraymukherjee3386 our steam locomotives have high pitch whistles whereas USA have roars..
