Even though I understand more about skincare and the chemistry behind it. Im still a sucker for the bold claims on some skincare products. These companies prey on my insecurities 😒
Probably need to build up your collagen. I used retinol i previously purchased that my face can't handle on other parts of my body instead. 😂 Glycolic acid too.
I was coming to ask this exact question. Post kids my chestacles aren't in horrible shape, but I'd love to know if retinoids or other methods work on the skin as well. I don't require surgery, just a slight pick me up 😂
I dermarolled my skin during and after 100 lb weight loss and it helped so much. My legs and tummy were the worst and they look so great. You only have to do it once a month. If you do try it, I followed Gin Amber beauty on youtube. She has videos on body dermarolling stretch marks and loose skin.
Bio oil actually helped me though…😅 I’ve had two kids and a bunch of stretch marks from it. And I had a lot of scars on my upper arms from when I was a child and had a cat who would dig her nails in me when I held her. Used bio oil and they are almost completely gone.
I hear you, but I would like to know how you used the oil on your skin? :) Did you just slather your skin with it or did you massage it in, took your time with it, and thereby maybe also stimulated your skin? I am just asking because my mum told me about her own stretchmarks to use an (any skin-)oil and to massage it in, to use maybe a roller on your skin or what else to help the skin to recover. So, my point is just that maybe that’s a situation where the cause and correlation is hard to differentiate.
I also used bio oil as well during my whole pregnancy and i have no stretch marks. I did not massage it i just put it on before bed once a day. My friends used it as well and that is why i tried and worked for me. So for me it worked.
That website elactancia has helped me a lot during breastfeeding! Definitely doesn't cover all skincare active ingredients, but even so a lot of them are there. :)
Yeah you really need to use it liberally during pregnancy to see results, not after. I used it during my pregnancies and only have 3 tiny stretch marks. I applied multiple times a day, like every 2-3 hours.
@@kpstl26 That's great, but it wasn't the bio-oil. You just weren't predisposed to stretch marks. Some people have more elastic skin, etc. And bio-oil isn't bad, it just can't do anything about what stretch actually are.
I used baby oil on my tummy during pregnancy worked awesome! And no I wasn't genetically predisposed to not having any because my mom and grandma got them 😅😊
So true 😂 I was buying bottles bio oil and palmer for my stretch marks, it's wasting my money. Since months ago I decided to used my face skincare to my problem area on my body like my aha and retinol, works millions better since those 2 above does not giving any result.
For cellulite what worked for me is 1,hour walking per day ,boiled salads such as potatoes-carrots etc.Another thing that helped is coffee scrub and plenty of water. As a woman who has a collagen disease, cellulite and stretch marks are my enemies since I was 15 years old although I was very thin.
I used it during my pregnancy, applied 3-6 times a day so my belly was always hydrated. I used it every time I went to the restroom to remember it easily. I only have 3 tiny stretch marks about an inch long and didn't get those until the last couple weeks because I went past my due date.
Umm yeah the bio oil worked amazingly for me during both pregnancies. You have to be consistent with it and even after. I have a whole body and face skincare routine I do and a lot of products from Truly have also been amazing. Consistency is key though
I used it too consistently over years and my stretch marks have no discolouration, I used Coco butter during my teens as I grew so my skin had more elasticity and I think the prolonged use of moisture rich products REALLY helps
I think she means those stretch marks people have after pregnancy or people have from weight gain/loss. Because during pregnancy, preventing them is easier and getting rid of them is easier when they're the freshest. My mom used cheap cocoa butter consistently during pregnancy, no stretch marks. I didn't use it consistently and I have horrible stretch marks I just left for years and am trying bio oil, but also am using Olay collagen body lotion, so between the 2, I hope it makes a difference.
Hyaluronic acid, collagen and vitamin C but taken internally can actually help thicken skin again. I notice a huge difference when I take it regularly. It's really good for joint health too.
Yep! I have dermatillomania and using vit c face wash on my arms helps the redness followed by a full routine. It also makes me pick less bc I’m using good products.
From what I've researched, there really isn't anything you can do about it. It's just the way fat can poke through collagen fibres & is largely dictated by genetics. But if it helps, I think around 70% of women have cellulite regardless of body size, so... It's just the beauty industry selling us a problem & preying on the insecurities they created.
@MeSelf-nf8og Did you mean Retinol and Glycolic Acid? Glycerin is very good for the skin 🥰 Typically, this is true. Glycolic Acid, an AHA, can bring the Retinol in pretty deep. *However,* the developers know this! So when you have a product that combines the two, it's been developed in a way that both works, and is very safe. Just don't use this on wet skin. I personally have had a good experience with this & the Necessaire Body Retinol with AHAs, but avoid areas with skin to skin contact such as the skin folds, be mindful that the neck is more sensitive- And, as always, patch test! I hope this helps! Dr Idress and Dr Dray both have videos on this if you want to learn from the experts! That's where I learn! 🥰
@MeSelf-nf8og Oh & I forgot to mention! Be especially careful with these 2 ingredients, together or separate & work your way up.. ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE MELANIN RICH SKIN! Melanated Queens 👸& Kings are more prone to Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation if their skin gets irritated 😢 (And no occlusives over AHAs or Retinoids) You got this! 😉 Good luck in your skincare journey! ✨️ 💛✨️
Dr. Idriss, my mom is 71 and very active. She’s always worked out and lifted weights etc but after having a hip replacement and being “out of commission” for aprox 2months she lost a lot of muscle mass particularly in her arms. Bio oil got rid of all my stretch marks and scars after pregnancy. It’s all I used and it only took a couple months. After 6 months they were gone completely.
@@mariahhuehner1196 I understand that! Knowing how I scar and how my body usually heals it is my experience that when I used bio oil it drastically reduced the time I would usually take to see scars go away. Even if it was just the moisture element that helped. Something in it works for me.
Pretty sure cellulite is the fatty later under the skin bunching up. It's natural, normal, perfectly acceptable ,and does not respond whatsoever to creams.
I'm pretty Bio Oil has retinol in it but I guess her point is if you already have these products for your face don't waste money buying separate ones for the body
While there are a LOT of anticellulite creams that are literally just expensive body butters, there actually are a couple of ingredients in some of them that habe been shown to actually reduce fat transdermally like aminophylline, and have showed significant promise in reducing the appearance of cellulite.
If you work out regularly and or walk consistently take CLA. Conjugated Lineolic Acid. This will smooth out your cellulite as well. Tonalin is the original supplement. Works great if your consistently working out, walking and taking every day!!❤

Dr Idris do you have tips for people suffering from Lichen Planus and other autoimmune skim diseases? I don't know if I should take extra precautions when it comes to skincare
Unfortunately, I don't think there are any effective treatments aside from maybe laser skin treatments at a Dermatology/Esthetician clinic. It's just a genetic predisposition to fat poking through holes in the fibrous tissue under our skin... But if it helps any, I think around 70% of women have cellulite at any size & it's a manufactured problem created by the beauty industry! 💖
What a fun video! I just got xenon on sale at Sephora. I like it-I am glad I didn’t pay full price though. I used it alone a few time but I think it looks better on me when I add a bit of bronzer in the crease for more warmth or like you mentioned a pop of color. I think I’m gonna pass on golden for now. I have a ton of makeup with those tones.
Folks, cellulite is normal and genetic. It's not caused by diet or exercise and topical creams won't do anything about it because it's at deeper levels than the epidermis. People of all shapes and sizes have it. You can reduce the appearance of it through some dermatological procedures like laser and you MIGHT be able to reduce the appearance by making the muscles stronger which makes the limb look smoother. But there's no cure and you're better off accepting your body and understanding that it's normal and not unhealthy or bad, than buying into the body shaming b.s. around it.
Cellulite can be reduced by heat, compression, and massage. Notice I said "reduced." As grown women, our hormones play a large part in fat production. Cellulite is normal. We can eat right , stay hydrated, and exercise to prevent an overgrowth of fat cells. But cellulite will more than likely remain, but to a lesser extent.
Preachhhhh!! We re all uniquely beautiful and we need to embrace it! Beauty standards are high and so is the cost of all te shenanigans you have to buy and goods you have to jump after all the scrolling through influencer crap were all getting fed day in and day out. Wear your makeup how you like it, do your hair how you like it, dress was comfortable because remember it's not the size of the jeans that matter it's how they fit ❤😊
What about the tools that claim to break up fascia under the dermis to smooth out cellulite? Because using them seems uncomfortable to me and time consuming and i don't want to go through that for no results. i wouldn't mind my size and extra fat so much if i didn't have cellulite.
STRETCH MARKS AND CELLULITE ARE SOOOO BEYOND NATURAL. WE ALL HAVE IT!!!! Even guys!!!! Pleaasseeee stop worrying about it y’all!!!! I have accepted my stretch marks as just another part of my skin and I have horrendous body image issues so if I can do it, you can too!! We are all GROWING humans!!! Adults!! Adults have stretch marks and cellulite. Do not ever worry about such things PLEASE
There’s nothing that’s ever gonna completely get rid of them, but some people have really bad stretch marks that take attention away from an otherwise nice looking body. Things to reduce stretch marks are helpful to reduce them. It’s okay to care for your appearance as long as it’s realistic.
There is nothing wrong with wanting it gone. No one has to accept anything especially if it makes them feel self conscious on a daily basis. I often find that people who say "just accept them" do not take into consideration people who have extreme and very pigmented stretch marks, or any other conditions... If you do not care to get rid of them, good for you but people should do what they feel is best for them.
You are so right. No such thing as anti-aging. Stretch marks are part of this process when you have children or weight train. Celebrate what your body does. Eat as healthy as you can afford to. Hydrate, exercise & get sleep. Use sunscreen & live!!!!!!
Please stop, stop trying to think your acceptance and the “oh well” theory is what many of us want. I’m 43 and look good and only want to improve myself not sit be lazy and just “accept”! That is not a positive nor an optimistic way of thinking and most of us on here that are asking one another these legitimate questions on how to better ourselves do NOT need this. Is there anything for like redness? I don't know how to explain it, but like I had bad acne growing up and there's red marks on my cheeks, but not scars? Is there a way to show you pictures? I been struggling trying to get rid of these red marks.
It's called post inflammatory hyper pigmentation, you can look it up online, and it tends to get better with niacinamide creams and/or salicylic acid toners or washes/pads.
Some anticellulite creams do work for particular individuals, especially if the cellulite isn't as bad as the one from the picture in the short. I workout (combination of strength training, athletic drills, HIIT, walking etc) and eat healthy and still have cellulite. Each time I start using an anticellulite cream, I always see results (that I don't see with regular body moisturizers etc): smoother skin, more hydration, better drainage etc ..
I used preventative Coco butter when I was growing as a teen so when I got them horizontally at my lower back they weren't as bad as my skin was super hydated. I switched to bio oil at a later age and it was more like an intensive moisturiser. The stretch marks have zero discolouration to them now because of time and consistency
I'm pregnant with twins currently, so stretch marks are making their way, bio-oil doesn't help them go away but boy does it help with the itching!! Maybe this is why it's recommended? Idk
i’m sorry if you’ve already answered this question I’m sure it’s very common but I was wondering at what age you would recommend starting a retinol based product? I am in my very early 20s and I’m worried about overworking my skin so I currently just use glycollic acid as I know it is hydrating, but I’m wondering if that is the right thing to do. Thank you in advance if you answer, and if not, thank you for sharing all of your useful information anyways, it has made such a difference for me! For a lot of young people it seems like we are getting 1 million products thrown at us all the time, it’s very helpful to have someone to help mitigate that overwhelm and help us make meaningful impactful choices for our skin.
Prevention is key but using it too early can d the opposite of what your trying to achieve. 20s is all about hydration etc. In my personal opinion, a woman who is 38 and still gets asked for ID, wash your face every morning and night and put a Good hydrating lotion on. Never make a habit of sleeping with makeup on, heck even if you atleast use a wipe it's better than having the makeupsettle in on yur face and cause you to age soonr. Also drink water, atleast a couple glasses. We are grapes and if we don't stay hydrated we shall shrivel up and get wrinkly. When u hit 30 that's whe you should start implementing retinol and hyaluronic acids. And only at a low dose to start to see how your skin reacts. :) aging is inevitable, we can hang for as long as we can but we will wrinkle, slowly but surely ❤😊

After I was hit in the face by a champagne bottle and had to get several stitches in my forehead, I used Bio Oil along with Mederma and you can barely see the scar. I know it’s not the same as stretch marks but Bio Oil worked for me as well.
@@llana2979 you have no idea if it worked because you don’t know what it would look like if you had done nothing.
What's good for cellulite?
Collagen boosting products.... Collagen Face Cream & Collagen powder
Also Sport and massage
@@justfanni7777she said collagen in products is a myth
She is saying the truth.
What about cellulite??
Even though I understand more about skincare and the chemistry behind it. Im still a sucker for the bold claims on some skincare products. These companies prey on my insecurities 😒
All while preying on your wallet...
They prey on us all 😢😪🙂
Thank you for all your valuable advices. Can you please recommend something for the… chest area 🥹 or skin elasticity after weight loss.
I don't require surgery, just a slight pick me up 😂
@@heartdragon2386 chestacles 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
They have many Lasers for tightening skin
Did you just slather your skin with it or did you massage it in, took your time with it, and thereby maybe also stimulated your skin?
I am just asking because my mum told me about her own stretchmarks to use an (any skin-)oil and to massage it in, to use maybe a roller on your skin or what else to help the skin to recover.
So, my point is just that maybe that’s a situation where the cause and correlation is hard to differentiate.
I think bio oil works for fresh scars etc
I also used bio oil as well during my whole pregnancy and i have no stretch marks. I did not massage it i just put it on before bed once a day. My friends used it as well and that is why i tried and worked for me. So for me it worked.
It’s a great product for scars, I love it
I was shocked I love bio oil I use it on my face too and it makes my skin glow
Please give specifics on what to use for stretch marks. Like brands Ty
The bio oil one😢 I was seriously disappointed when it didn't get rid of my stretch marks🤧
Can you do a video about skincare safe for breastfeeding? It’s hard to know what stretch mark treatments are okay postpartum!
That website elactancia has helped me a lot during breastfeeding! Definitely doesn't cover all skincare active ingredients, but even so a lot of them are there. :)
Either way I would too like a vídeo about this
You're always so helpful and informative ❤❤
And for cellulite?😏
Bio oil is not bad I believe it’s keeping the skin hydrated that really makes a difference so oils are great
Yeah you really need to use it liberally during pregnancy to see results, not after.
@@mariahhuehner1196 it definitely was, if your skin is hydrated it won'tw tear, causing the stretch marks. Both my sisters have tons of them.
I used baby oil on my tummy during pregnancy worked awesome! And no I wasn't genetically predisposed to not having any because my mom and grandma got them 😅😊
I have stretch mark and i use bio oil, it worked! My stretch mark disappeared
Question pls, did you get the stretch marks after a surgery?
@@raghdaalqaisi2789 mine was because hormonal weight gain!
So true 😂 I was buying bottles bio oil and palmer for my stretch marks, it's wasting my money. Since months ago I decided to used my face skincare to my problem area on my body like my aha and retinol, works millions better since those 2 above does not giving any result.
I used whatever I use for my face on my body as well… same goes if I don’t like the texture… I’ll still use it on my back😅
For cellulite what worked for me is 1,hour walking per day ,boiled salads such as potatoes-carrots etc.Another thing that helped is coffee scrub and plenty of water.
As a woman who has a collagen disease, cellulite and stretch marks are my enemies since I was 15 years old although I was very thin.
Что значит коллагеновая болезнь?
I've used so much bio oil after giving birth and not even a slight change. They should be banned. Thanks for the advice ❤ I'll try those instead.
I used it during my pregnancy, applied 3-6 times a day so my belly was always hydrated. I used it every time I went to the restroom to remember it easily. I only have 3 tiny stretch marks about an inch long and didn't get those until the last couple weeks because I went past my due date.
I actually never use it for stretch marks, but for acne scars and it has helped drastically take them away
I agree! But these are things we need to focus on during the winter to see results in the warmer months
I think genetics may play a role 😂
I agree. Learned the hard way
Will love to hear more about stretch marks for you doc 🥰🥰
Dr. Please give us hope that there's something we can do about crepey skin on our arms!! Pleeeaasssee.....
Hyaluronic acid, collagen and vitamin C but taken internally can actually help thicken skin again. I notice a huge difference when I take it regularly. It's really good for joint health too.
I also cut out coffee and alcohol because I could tell it was dehydrating my skin.
Yep! I have dermatillomania and using vit c face wash on my arms helps the redness followed by a full routine. It also makes me pick less bc I’m using good products.
With stretch marks I personally went for RF microneedling about 4 sessions, and there's huge improvement! Highly recommended
I'm pleased that helped as those treatments are a cost investment
What about cellulite treatment??
From what I've researched, there really isn't anything you can do about it. It's just the way fat can poke through collagen fibres & is largely dictated by genetics. But if it helps, I think around 70% of women have cellulite regardless of body size, so... It's just the beauty industry selling us a problem & preying on the insecurities they created.

Try *Topicals Slather* Body Serum! AHA & Retinol for the *BODY!* I love it, hope someone else does, too.
I heard that this is not good for you. I saw somewhere retinol and glycerin is a no no
@MeSelf-nf8og Did you mean Retinol and Glycolic Acid? Glycerin is very good for the skin 🥰 Typically, this is true. Glycolic Acid, an AHA, can bring the Retinol in pretty deep. *However,* the developers know this! So when you have a product that combines the two, it's been developed in a way that both works, and is very safe. Just don't use this on wet skin. I personally have had a good experience with this & the
Necessaire Body Retinol with AHAs, but avoid areas with skin to skin contact such as the skin folds, be mindful that the neck is more sensitive- And, as always, patch test! I hope this helps! @MeSelf-nf8og Oh & I forgot to mention! Be especially careful with these 2 ingredients, together or separate & work your way up.. ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE MELANIN RICH SKIN! Melanated Queens 👸& Kings are more prone to Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation if their skin gets irritated 😢

Thank you I have very weird mixed skin. And scar deep and dark. Sensitive skin.
Dr. Idriss, my mom is 71 and very active. She’s always worked out and lifted weights etc but after having a hip replacement and being “out of commission” for aprox 2months she lost a lot of muscle mass particularly in her arms. The skin on her upper arms is crepey and kinda loose. She is super bummed by this and I was wondering if there’s anything she can do to improve the look of the skin or is it too late?
Gold bond for crepey skin, help a lit bit at least. This does happen with loss of muscle mass it seems. Leg injury and damaged muscle, my one thing crepes downward more, hate it!
Hate, hate, hate that crepey skin that I have too!!@@janebraun4482

As someone who has struggled with my weight my whole life I know what it feels like to hate your arms and to not want to show them off. Fingers crossed by the time I’m in my 70’s science will have advanced lol! 😂
Her best bet would be to build the muscle back up since that's what caused it, the rest would then be the actual skincare
You are awesome. Thanks for the tips.
Bio oil got rid of all my stretch marks and scars after pregnancy. It’s all I used and it only took a couple months. After 6 months they were gone completely.
It wasn't the bio-oil. Everyone's body and skin are different. Some people scar easily, some people don't. Some people have stretch marks, some don't.
@@mariahhuehner1196 I understand that! Knowing how I scar and how my body usually heals it is my experience that when I used bio oil it drastically reduced the time I would usually take to see scars go away. Even if it was just the moisture element that helped. Something in it works for me.
The way your iris pop with this color! 😳😍🖤
Thank you for confirming what I already thought: that resurfacing formulas are better for stretch marks and scars b/c of the cell turnover.
Pretty sure cellulite is the fatty later under the skin bunching up. It's natural, normal, perfectly acceptable ,and does not respond whatsoever to creams.
Ooh woow thank u for tye vital information 💖
Bio oil works very well!
Omg really I was totally under the impression I couldn’t do anything at home to deduce the appearance
So what should we expect use? Can you list some products for everything you mentioned?
I'm pretty Bio Oil has retinol in it but I guess her point is if you already have these products for your face don't waste money buying separate ones for the body
It's not retinol but a weaker form of vitamin a
While there are a LOT of anticellulite creams that are literally just expensive body butters, there actually are a couple of ingredients in some of them that habe been shown to actually reduce fat transdermally like aminophylline, and have showed significant promise in reducing the appearance of cellulite.

And what else should we use for cellulite? ....

Sorry you feel that way and that you may have given up, but please be a positive cheerleader to the rest of us whom haven’t given up.
@@user-fh6jd2lp2e 43 is young. Happy you think you look good. I'm 62, weight train, have 4 adult children & am grateful for what my body does. No medication. I don't think the people accepting these issues are lazy, and have given up. Calm down. Live & let live

For cellulite?
Im using body oil for my scars. Should i be using something else?
I used preventative Coco butter when I was growing as a teen so when I got them horizontally at my lower back they weren't as bad as my skin was super hydated.
I switched to bio oil at a later age and it was more like an intensive moisturiser. The stretch marks have zero discolouration to them now because of time and consistency
Bio oil didn't work for me or anyone i know
True I have wasted too much on that rubbish.
Bio oil worked for me. I think it’s because there is a form of retinol in it. It has retinyl palmitate. So it’s a gentle enough retinol for my body
Where did you get that fabulous top
will these work on old stretch marks on the arms
So what do we do for cellulite?
I'm pregnant with twins currently, so stretch marks are making their way, bio-oil doesn't help them go away but boy does it help with the itching!! Maybe this is why it's recommended? Idk
Have you tried almond oil or argan?
Congratulations 😇😇. May God bless you.🌷
Bio oil is good for prevention.
i’m sorry if you’ve already answered this question I’m sure it’s very common but I was wondering at what age you would recommend starting a retinol based product?
So what do we use??
What if you’re not able to use retinol? Do you have a good alternative that you can recommend?
Rosehip SEED oil (cold pressed) and vitamin E oil lightened my darkest stretch marks. Mix both oils at the time of application in your palm. Mix equal parts and rub your hands together until oils are warm and apply to your stretch marks in circulation motion. Do this once or twice a day. It will take a long time (its stretch marks after all) but they WILL fade.
I had new pink/purple stretch marks on my boobs used, Bio Oil religiously. Now, I have zero proof that they were even there.
