In this video, we do our first oil change (at 4.6 hours) on the Toro TIMECUTTER with the 24.5 HP V-Twin commercial Toro engine. The process was very easy, quick, and clean.

Great video. My hose was stuck like many others had and the trick for me was a pair of pliers. Grip and twist the hose as close to the top as you can while you pull down with your other hand.

June 2022, Erie Pennsylvania…model 74742… just bought this a couple weeks ago, I’ve never had a zero turn mower before, but I must say.. with a bit of practice, I’ll Never go back to a traditional lawn mower. Fast, comfortable, cuts beautifully. So far very pleased with it.. and thank you for that very informative demonstration of an oil change.. doesn’t get any simpler than that! 👍😀 subscribed.

I just purchased the 52" Toro Commercial 06/06/23. I mowed for 5.4 hours and still didn't need to fill up yet, but I decided to anyway. I didn't notice that it had a fuel gauge until I was blowing the grass off of it. Three tanks seems to be really excessive, especially since I went 5.4 on the original tank. I run full speed also.
EDITED to add that this is my second Commercial Toro Timecutter and I love both of them. The first one I've had now for 12-15 years and it's still running. It has over 1,000 hours on it, but I'm not sure how much since the plug that the hour meter goes into somehow got pulled apart for a short time until I wondered why it wasn't changing. I highly recommend Toro, especially the commercial models.

I just purchased the 75750 only for my home. I couldn't believe it! I almost landed on the street on a decline! I used it for 1.7 hours being very careful operating when I turn left to go back it just slides like ice down the hill. Our yard is mostly flat except for the front with a slope of more than 10% in front that I tried to stay away from. I was ready to jump off to the left. I locked the brake quickly thank God no damage!
They can get really sketchy on slopes! Be careful out there.
I have had my time cutter for about six years now and still and changed the oil. I did put a truck tailgate spreader on it and a 29 gallon sprayer and painted it and added a rear swivel under the hitch I welded on it

For some reason you had extremely high gasoline consumption. My new 50” Timecutter with a 24.5hp V twin engine used 3 gallons over three hours to mow almost 2 acres with repeated crossings (literally about 4 acres worth of mowing) to disperse the clippings because the grass had grown a bit too tall. That is a much better yield than what you described and I got the same high yield the second time around. I’m about to do my first oil change so thanks for your video.
It's been better as I've improved as an operator. I think now that I mow mostly in the medium and fast speed, I'm getting much more mowing done on less gasoline. Good comments! Thanks for watching.
Nice tutorial. Taking the oil filter off my timecutter for the first time was a mess lol. I lay a towel down now.

I was kind of wondering if you should take it off the blocks when you're filling it with oil to get an accurate reading?
If you have an oil pump is there any reason you couldn’t drain from the top through the oil fill tube? That way you avoid that dreaded plastic nut valve at the oil drain port? I have a 5025 that doesn’t have the built in drain pipe
That's a good question. I'm not sure about the answer. I have seen some people use an oil pump to remove oil from things like push mowers (the ones with no drain plug).
I've only ever used this Toro machine - so I don't have any experience with the plastic nut valve.

Anyways I am getting the #75750 Timecutter 50" with the 23hp Kawasaki Engine.
I was wondering if you would know (or if anyone else knows) IF you can swap out the Plastic Chute for the Rubber Chute?
I am willing to purchase one straight up if I have to as well...I am not sure if they have a Rubber Chute that will 'fit' the Residential Zero Turns

Thanks! When I first got the Toro I wondered about the discharge chute too. I considered trying to use a rubber one from a Toro Titan. But the plastic chute is still holding strong so far. I'm pretty cautious though - I haven't hit it off of anything hard yet.
3 tanks of gas does sound a lot; BUT, at the time of your video the engine was brand new as well as you were running in Turtle mode (equates to high revving in low gear), so, the gas consumption can only get better. According to the operator's manual (Page 14, takes 40-50 hours for the machine to fully broken-in)... Thanks for taking the time to make this video!!
Question: Have you researched on aftermarket oil filters that can sub for the Toro oil filter (136-7848)? I found several (WIX WL10239, NAPA 400239, Fram PH4967, Purolator L14476), but I can not verify their exact fitment yet (I am still expecting mine to be delivered) for proper substitute of the Toro filter... Regards.
Updated (April/26/2021): My 75742's first oil & filter change, the Purolator L14476 oil filter does Not work do to just not enough space between its threaded base to the oil filter adapter (by ~1mm) leaving a very small gap for oil to seep through the filter gasket. The Fram PH4967 fits just fine with the filter's threaded base making contact to the oil filter adapter right at the 3/4 of a turn. I had a difficult time find the WIX and NAPA filters in my area, so unable to try them out.
Hi Rick. Excellent point about the gasoline usage. I do think it's leveled out over time, but still uses far more than a diesel tractor. :)
As far as the oil filters go - I did a lot of filter research on our John Deere tractor, Jeep Wrangler, and Ford F350 Diesel. What I've found is that some non OEM filters aren't engineered specifically for the engine/application. Since that time, I've always paid a buck or two more for the actual brand filter. I buy only the Motorcraft filters for my diesel engine, only the Mopar filters for the Jeep, and only the John Deere filters for the tractor. I've done the same with this Toro. The Toro filter is around $12 on Amazon, and I don't spending that for the filter that Toro recommends using. Great question though. One more comment to share with regard to draining the old oil (I learned last night) without the need to til/lift the left side of the mower since the Toro V-Twin engine base-cover/oil pan design has the cross oil flow/drain channels between chambers, so by leaving the mower sitting on leveled ground plus give it enough time will allow most of the oil to drain out of the engine; see video in the URL below:

Just purchased the time Cutter, how was the steering when you purchased it? Mine had the tendency to swerve left when levers were pushed all the way forward. It should go straight forward, and straight backwards.
Mine has been good. I do notice when traveling across any grade though. If you're on even a slight slope traveling sideways, you will have to adjust your hand position accordingly. If you push both levers to 100% forward and there is even a few degree grade, you will travel toward the direction of the "downhill".
Also - there is some adjustment in those levers where they are bolted - check to make sure they're equally positioned on each side.

I saw serval videos were 1st time changes break 99% of them. Yes I was one of them. That dang rubber tube on new plastic sucks. Damn engineers

2022 the tube (hose) like other model years is VERY hard to get off the 1st time. In fact I broke the plastic piece the tube goes in. I heard others using a screw in top of the tube. Is that ok or does it have to be vacuum sealed?
I've heard others saying they have added a shut off valve to the end of the hose if they have broken that plastic piece off. I haven't heard of any issues. So far (knock on wood), I haven't broken off that plastic nipple. But I can totally see how it is possible!
I actually found this video because of how hard it was to get the tube off, and right after watching mine snapped! I guess I may be trying the valve method
Did your timecutter come filled with oil when you bought it?
It was ready to go when I picked it up. I think that's probably typical, because most people drive it onto a trailer to haul it home.
How do you grease them
I don't think there are any greaseable fittings on the zero turn.
Just wondering if your Zero Turn is getting close to having it's Hydro Gear fluid changed and the type of oil you will be using?
Mine has the ZT2100 Hydro Gear (supposedly none serviceable, no filter, no drain plug - LOL), so, I plan to use suction to draw as much fluid out...
Rick - sorry it took me so long to respond. I hadn't even thought about the hydraulic fluid. I'm going to need to do more research. Let me know how it works out using suction and then replacing the fluid.

I am currently researching for the 20W-50 motor oil (according to Hydro-Gear, as long as meets API SL or higher rating) to use, leaning towards Valvoline or Castro full synthetic). I plan to do the fluid change before the Winter, approximately early Nov. As for using suction , I just got one from Amazon by "4 Uncles" on sale... I will update here.

Hello Tyler - thanks for watching and asking. I've never had that issue - so I'm not sure what to try. Did just the tube part break off inside the tube? Or did the tab (with the blue sticker) break off?

@@tylersamson3567 Thanks for explaining. I think I may have read that someone else had the same issue last year. Have you tried reaching out to Toro? I think (you could test it) - if you just plug the hose with a bolt the right size, and hang it so that it's upright, (attach it to something so that it is in about the same position it was in when attached to the engine), it might be okay. Bummer that it broke though. Was the plastic cold? Was it the first oil change? I had to really pull mine to get it off. Thankfully - it didn't break.
@@PurpleCollarLife I have not contacted Toro, even though i have multiple warranties. I canceled my yards today, because of the breakage of the nipple. The end of the hose that was connected to the nipple, is just a drain hose? It doesnt have to be connected to the nipple to continue a flow of oil throughout the engine? It can just be plugged with a bolt, and held upright and the mower will run fine???
@@tylersamson3567 Hi Tyler - I'm not 100% positive, so you'd want to look up in where the nipple broke off. But I do think that the hose is just a drain hose. I don't think it has anything to do with oil flow through the engine. Again - I'm not a Toro engineer and not positive (definitely check with Toro or your dealer).
