I can tell you from personal experience during a period of time of my life that I'm not proud of, there is honor among some theives.
No honour among people. No honour among wannabes. Pirates are seen as thieves, but research shows that they had laws, rules to follow. If one broke one, the consequences were harsh

My local card shop had a grade 10 black lotus in a display case and some kid broke into the store, tried punching the case to break it open (and failed lol), then fled when he couldnt bust it open.. Later in the footage, my buddy who owns the store walks in and slides the case open without unlocking it. They got the whole fiasco on camera and it was HILARIOUS. Also, there's a police station right behind the shop, so this clearly wasnt well thought out.
It wasn't even locked? Dude... Plus they didn't even bring the tire iron from their car.
@professorhaystacks6606 To be fair, the store is in a pretty nice area and break ins aren't really common. Dude threw a rock through the door to get in, but didn't use it on the case.

He also got the other 3 Blue Eyes from their owners by forcing one person into bankruptcy, making deals with the mafia and forcing the 3rd person to commit suicide.

This reminds me of the guy who stole a Black Lotus at a convention. He also asked the vendor if he could "inspect" the card, then just took off. That guy never got caught and we don't know where the card is now.

That Story reminds me of that one Person Who came to the Store where i and my Friends Always Play Yugioh he Always tried to scam little Kids Who Had Luck and pulled rare cards from boosters which they bought from their Money or got from their parents some of US tried to Stop that but Not many Players cared until He Made a big mistake many of us talked about cards WE wanted to buy from the Shop while waiting and He Started to buy all copys of those cards and wanted to sell them to us more expensive He pissed Off so many Players that 2 Things happened Afterwards 1. We Started talking about cards We didnt actually need and waited for him to buy all copys and told him we dont want These cards 2. Everyone Started to protect the children from him so He could No longer scam them after that He stopped coming to that Shop

see like the issue with shit like this is that the only people who would actually pay the secondary market price for these cards are gonna be deep in the scene and will know damn well that that specific card was just recently stolen so obviously everyone who would shell out the 33k for the card is going to find out about it. especially if it's a graded card with an exact serial number on it. dude is an idiot.
I remember a kid crying because someone took his entire trade binder. A close friend at the time he knew who took it, half the building knew wbat happened. No one told him though. I still think about that sometimes

Didn't you see the episode?" bullcrap... And several kids myself included believed it! and who could doubt 'em? The rest of us paying 75 cents for booster pack leftovers could never. That's why I sold fake packs, and never once felt bad when that Swords of Revealing Light pull ended up being a fake. That's what you get for flexing your Blue Eyes. I'm a card collector myself, and this is absolutely stupid. As for the price, that is actually 4.6 million yen compared to 30,000 US dollars. I have to search the equivalence in different countries. I bought an LOB 1st edition copy back in 2011 for only $20, but I NEVER found out how to find the value in my cards.

First time he did steal it when Yugi brought it to school to show and Kaiba swapped it with a Counterfeit when he asked if he could see it and Yami Yugi won it back and second time was he kidnapped Yugi's grandfather to duel him with Yugi and Joey seeing the duel and ripped it up due to Yugi's grandfather losing and the card betraying him in this duel against Yami Yugi.

Thieves have to genuinely be one of the dumbest people ever man. Like this is nowhere near the amount in the video, but locally recently there was a couple who went to literally every card store in town + the nearby town and grabbed a bunch of stuff and ran out. No mask or nothin. They were on camera at minimum 5 different stores with their face out and using the same car and everything. They went to jail that evening

Was highly surprised to hear that these two were charged with robbery of all things. I'm a law student in the UK, and over here, robbery is theft with the threat or use of force or violence, and Takashima didn't do that, he simply asked for the card and then bolted when he had an opportunity. Interesting how laws differ between nation states.

Why i dont bring trade binders anymore, too many card sharks who try to swindle for cards in events. Most sont try to outright steal but their are con artists who prey on newer players.
It's also a general trend among players to just buy whatever singles they need. It's way easier now than it used to be and we are adults with disposable income so trading doesn't feel like a necessity anymore.
