I saw a number of people comment that Tom is not in this video, that's right this time I was not behind the camera but I was in front of the camera.
This year it will happen more often that not only Tom will be in front of the camera, but I will also be seen here as a member of team Tom Outdoor.

Try and find your own balance. Try once a week. If you can manage, try twice a week. If you can’t, try once a fortnight. The latter figure seems to be around the average from the channels I watch.
Don’t make yourself ill trying to fulfil what you think are people’s expectations of you. I hope that this comes across in the right way. I want you to do well but don’t push yourself ever at the expense of either your physical or mental health.

Thijs, one tip.. if you make breakfast with bacon and eggs, first the bacon so it will give some grease if you do not have that with you because the egg will stick too much to any pan, especially those camping pots and pans.
And next the egg, so it has some fat to bake in.. right? 😉
Hope that you will show it next time you eat that again some day, or try it out at home..
And please don't tell me that you left the site with the fire still burning.. loads of snow around you to put it out! Also in Wintertime a fire, as small as this can start burning in the top soil, crawl underground and burn for a LONG time... and people get surprised why there's a Forrest fire days later after there was ever someone there to begin with, suddenly..
I know that you know this, I am right, right?
Really, please ALWAYS watch out with fire, summer AND winter (only if you live on permafrost it is no problem, or at least less anyways.
The bacon will also give it a great taste !
Also make sure the fire is out next time.

Full tang knives are rough in the winter - a good pukko or leuko is my preferred winter knife.
At least 6 inches of spruce to have enough insulation from the cold ground. Finally a video I can relate to if it comes to building a shelter.👍

Come to the US, you can pretty much experience every type of weather, geography, & topography, from deserts,rainforests, mountains with snow in them deep into the summer, parts of Utah & South Dakota look like martian landscape.
I am from Chicago, but live in Reno now, I'm in grateful that even though I live in the desert, surrounded my mountains, I still get to see the snow I grew up with in Chicago, just not anywhere near as cold!! Lol.

You may have to get a longer axle for the bike. Or check out the child trailer set up and see if that one will work. If it threaded you may have to chase the threads with a tap. But I think it's the thickness. So a longer axle. I know they do make a bracket that bolts to the frame VS. The axle.

Some kind of joke, right? No where near enough pine bough on the ground or on the roof.. These video's where someone gets the idea to build a shelter and spend the night in it are great but at least be honest about it. You would have been very cold on that thin layer of pine boughs and you needed more on the roof too. That reflector wall was too short too. Bacon first then the eggs.. Don't mislead people. Build it right and tell the truth about how it actually performed.. Your shelter and bed were inadequate and you would have frozen in -10 without a sleeping bag.

What skills do you need. Cut down some branches, build a shelter, start a fire, cook a steak, open a bottle of wine. I wouldn't call it skills. Its not rocket science

And at Christmas time loads and loads of people cut a tree from forests.. plus this one tree never had gotten bigger than this, it stood too close to the bigger one next to it.
Now the bigger Pine one gets also more ground water and has the chance to grow even bigger.
