Anyways, little eiry update: I've been sicker than a dog wearing sunglasses on a skateboard (woah that's sick!!!) and I spent the last two weeks snotty-nosed and hoarse :( I'm feeling better though and should be able to record something new by next week! WOOHOOOOO so excited, love singing hehahe (no wayy you have a singing channel, pretty genius of me to start this channel methinks...)

HOLY SHIT THAT WOULD ACTYALLY BE AMAZING
Not only does the LGBTQ+ twist make the song feel fresh and beautiful, but the voices of Reineairy and Justine go SO well together. I'd say they compliment one another. There were a few moments where Justine's voice almost reminded me of Lea's in the original ( particularly around the “ I'm like a shooting star; I've come so far- ” line ) which was nice.
Overall, this is one of my favourite in the “ ( Insert Song ) but Gay ” series and I'm already adding it to my playlist reserved for listening as I play games.

Even from a musical standpoint it's honestly pretty incredible too. I wasn't expecting them to sing in the same octave, as the original has them in two separate registers, but in this context it makes total sense for them to both be altos here. A Whole New World of sexuality and acceptance, in a place where she's expected to marry a prince. "Open your eyes", "let your heart decide", "indescribable feelings", "new fantastic point of view", "new horizons", "can't go back"... Even "magic carpet ride" 🤭 seems very gay to me already. I have decided in my headcanon that the story was originally gay, but changed last minute - no I don't accept criticism, and yes I'll fight you if you try to convince me otherwise 🤣

Nothing is rigid, your point of view isn't the only one and I'm sure the point of view of the lyricist was something else mostly about societal expectations and the lyricist point of view matters more
The lyrics "no one to tell us no, or way to go, or say we're only dreaming" fits so much to homophobic situations. Family, friends, or people in general telling us it's just a phase and the lyrics match the desire to find a place where you can be accepted.

It's not very centered on the romance, though it is one of the main points, the actual main plot is a gay prince and lesbian princess who are childhood friends get married to hide their sexuality from the world and fulfill the expectations that people hold from them aswell as live out their lives in relationships with the people they actually like.
