Raúl Díaz Arce and Mauricio Cienfuegos!! Two football greats from El Salvador!!
The start of something beautiful 🏆
Then the Corporate Red Bull came to MLS...
The 1997 Dc United team was one of the best mls teams of all time
I miss the old D.C. United...
i remember being 11 and dc was my team since day 1 because i am bolivian and marco and jaime were my heroes. everyone at school was a galaxy or metrostars fan and clowned on me for wearing my black dc jersey that year. then came the day my family drove from connecticut to foxboro for the mls cup 96 in our toyota camper. i remember being freezing and wet for like 2 whole days and my feet literally looking like a wrinkled mess. i was so sad to see my team down 2 goals so quick but we absolutely lost our minds when they came back and won it. it was unbelievable , i mean words cant express how happy we were. all of my family was there with bolivian flags supporting marco and jaime. the ride home was crazy as the highway was jammed packed, mcdonalds sold out of food and the rain just never stopped pounding the windshield. the next day at school no one said a word to me and didnt even believe me that i was at the game but i didnt care. it was one of the best days of my life because for the first time i felt proud to be bolivian in a town where no one had any respect for my background or knew what bolivia was. gracias marco y jaime por esa memoria, no se pueden imaginar
Ah the good auld days

Wow. El 'diablo' Marco Antonio Etcheverry' left foot was a gift from above. I use to go out in the backyard as a righty and just practiced all day with my left, just to imitate him. If only fans out there really knew how special he was.
Same
Just watching that video, you can see how far the league has come. From players to fans, mls has come so far.
I was one of those that were never interested in mls, and I remember the first team I ever saw was La Galaxy here in Florida when they played a friendly with AC Milan. I liked the way the played, and ever since I have been following the league. And once we got our team in Orlando, that was the best.
Because of this moment I became a United for life... it sucks to see what DC had become now.
That 96' MLS Cup still hurts me because I thought Galaxy had the cup
I met Jeff Agoos back in 97 walking through the new york city subway tunnel 14th street. Cool guy .. stopped and talked to a high school kid and I openly admitted to him I was a Metrostars fan😂 .. he was just cool as shit tho.
Could have been 98
It's amazing how much Chris Armas looks and sounds like Tim Howard in this...
They should do a video like this for every MLS Cup!
It is possible we are working on this. Stay tuned!
That would be so nice! It's very hard to find interesting videos about the history of MLS
Im from the UK I loved DC United in the in the 2000s I remember them becoming more world class they still had a top squad round about early to mid 2000s my relatives bought me a DC United t shirt from a wear house in San Diego and my favourite player at the time was Fred Adu and Im amazed that I found out they formed a few years after I was born and won there first league finals in 1996 and I was shocked about the amount of American teams on my first fifa game when I was 10 in 2002
great stuff! thanks for producing this
Classic, beautiful!
DC United Respect!
Etcheverry eres un crack papa
Vamos United!!!
That team was ALL El Diablo
This is why MLS is my favorite soccer league. It’s domestic and it has the playoffs. I don’t understand why Americans support European teams, considering some of them don’t have any connection to that city. Support your local professional team, you won’t regret it. One day MLS will be one of the biggest leagues, just wait.
LONG LIVE THE MLS AND SOCCER IN AMERICA 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Christian Perez I follow mls, but I follow european leagues because it's arguably insanely better soccer with much more atmosphere and history.
I watch mls, but I also follow other leagues. Ever league has their style of playing.
I'm from Mallorca (Spain) and I support MLS more than some european teams xD
Christian Perez mls sucks
Christian Perez so shut up.
Ironically this game that should've been delayed turned out to be the one most people remember.
The best mls American dynasty every! Plus a inter American cup to add on it , they been doing it before LAG plus they never had any big name from European, and they still do on the road in in Brazil against VAsa
