This is an old and known story and had a nice update. Basically after OP got the house all set up, he had a Christmas party and all the family made the trip over and marveled at how nice it was to gather at his house and see the camper too. Parents and brother couple tried to crash the party but the whole family rejected their BS and tossed them out. Afterward, many relatives slept over due to drunkenness and some slept in the camper. Whole family agreed this was a great get together and thought maybe this could be a traditional get together. Also, something something Ray Charles Christmas CD.
Even bigger update came later on: Dan found out SIL was cheating on him and the new baby wasn't his. He woke up from his pity-party to see wife's entitled behavior more clearly (he and family were sick of it) and began to tear her to shreds in the divorce. OPs and Dan's relationship began to improve and his parents slowly began learning how to treat him better. SIL was as much a jerk as ever and blamed OP for her problems.

He should’ve just pressed charges. And taken full documentation of all of the damage. This family would’ve pressed charges against the OP in an instant. They were hoping to get squatters rights, or prove that they owned the home, never paying mortgage, making sure OP would have to face the foreclosure process and it always being on his record.
