  • The Durable Slate Co added a new tool to their arsenal, they now have the Qwik Slate System in place as an alternative to the traditional slate install, it's still just as strong yet much more cost effective than your traditional slate roof. They were featured at the SRCA conference and Deanna Meske is hosting this segment for HRC TV.

Was looking up roofing for tropical climates and slate was considered the best material to use. Can anyone else living in a place with similar weather vouch if its true?... and why does the announcer girl's face look 25yrs old but her hands look 65?!

That roof is going to blow away. Every system that I have seen before in North Wales that was based on hooks has failed. I don't like the hips. The mortar doesn't match. Saddle or mitred hips would look far more professional. I reckon some of those gaps around the hip will also let water in.

I,ve used about 30,000 slate hooks. Not one hook or slate has come off. These are used in Cornwall and Brittany because the the high winds!

thought it was villa del reys, I use a capped ridge and only put the beading on the centre, no pointing at all on the ridge

SHOULD BE PUTTING A GREY MORTAR MIX WHEN POINTING RIDGE AND VALLEY WITH SLATE. LOOKS ALOT BETTER THAN THE NORMAL AND ALSO HOOK FIXING WOULDN'T LAST LONG IN WINDY AREAS.

A lousy way of putting a slate roof on!! I've seen slate roofs put on with 80% held on with hooks before here in northern New England and they don't hold up! Every year I have to go back and replace broken slate or nail then down . You do save time so I guess you end up making a lot of money!

This is not even close to the right way to do a slate roof as someone who has done it for 25 yrs.
