Meta is a lot like the VR version of Nintendo; they make some great stuff, and their products are much more accessible to the casual gamers out there, but they both make some utterly asinine decisions. Quick side note, I really appreciate these videos. You are somehow able to capture my ADHD monkey gremlin brain's attention for more than five seconds. I'll tell you right now, that is not an easy task, so thanks.
Metas hardware is cheap but they don't make any games.

I remember that a week or two ago after updating my headset, so many things were broken. I was completely stuck on passthrough with no way out of it for a while. I ended up leaving my headset on, but idle for a while to see if that would fix it. This did work, but upon getting back to the home menu, ALL of my games were uninstalled.

Bro. After going back on my quest 2 after a while all of the games for my brother were gone and we couldn't get them back even though I paid on my acc.
also the stuck on passthrough thing has happened to me way too many times (prob like 8 or 7)
Yes, I did experience the little colorful lines artifacts on virtual desktop while moving my head or moving in-game idk.. they did seem to go away when i opened the steamvr menu and came right back when I closed it. while in my personal experience it wasn't the most horrible thing in the world, I hope they fix it as it is immersion breaking. (on v55)
Same happened to me. I thought it was something with my router since it's old, but my airlink did show some artifacts a few seconds after the update. It's not happening anymore and I hope it doesn't happen again
This happened to me too! I was playing QuestCraft and they showed up when it was dark
omg.. thank for this vid. I thought I was going crazy because I have both the flickering pixels AND the performance hiccups. (I stopped using airlink in favor of virtual desktop.. but the issues are definitely there.) I searched online and found nothing addressing these things.. until now.

Im on PTC v56, and I noticed on my quest, general frame dropping, in general, and the airlink/rift wired link is massively less reliable than it ever was before. having aid that the guardian detection (when it works) is pretty much instant, whereas before you'd frequently have to set the boundary up ever few sessions. It's not all bad.

I've had the white flickering dot/line issue for since around v54 and I'm glad im not the only one, I figured my headset really was damaged
I just got v55, haven't ad any of the issues people have been having, but Maaaaaan I'm glad that weird spacing in the library was fixed

The flickering will also happen when your just playing standalone I was playing gorilla tag, and every time I looked in certain directions it would do the flickering lines down the right side of my view and it made me worry for a while, but a lot of people in the game says it’s just a bug with the game, an oculus
Thanks for the info!!! I thought my headset was broken because of the white graphical crap on the right side of the headset. I will try to factory reset the headset and see if it fixes it. I only use it with PC through virtual desktop so dont care about the increased performance.

I've always had partial issues with Link itself, tethered, not even Air Link. Sometimes my PC just wont show up when it's connected, but I believe that's due to the cable and not the headset.

Meta tried to get me to send my headset in for the white pixel glitch even though I kept telling them it started right after the v53 update and was not a hardware issue. I finally found other people on reddit who had the same issue and decided to not send it in to them and just hold out. It's almost entirely gone but still pops up every now and then.
I am so mad rn. The v55 update made me have to FACTORY RESET because of it, and I lost ALL OF MY RECORDINGS. THE UPDATE MADE MY HEADSET BOOTLOOP and there was no way to fix it.
My quest 2 litteraly stopped working - the tracking is completely off, the boarders fail constantly and games lag like a mother... Such a shame. I was a very active user.

BRUH! Thank you for making this video. I dont say that often but holy crap I have been troubleshooting my Quest 2 for WEEKS now. I even bought the D-Link bridge and that was broken. Tested network connections, cable runs and the whole nine yards. Now I am sending the bridge back and just waiting for an update. Getting a periodic stutter every 5 to 20 seconds completely prevents me from playing. Pretty sad since I've been waiting to play the new Walking Dead on PCVR.
I spent 4 hours setting up my wifi because of limited connection on the quest last night, then spent another couple hours figuring out why my link cable was disconnecting and reconnecting and I found I was overloading my usbs. Runs ghost of tabor great! I feel like everyone has different issues with the quest lol

This makes so much sense, my Air link hasn’t worked in months, and my Quest 2 has been buggy as hell for the last several weeks. I’ve been getting a big X appearing sporadically, which warps the picture into some kind of X shape. I’ve just been using the Pico and totally abandoned the Quest because I assumed it just broke somehow.

Fact: there is only 1 reason to push an older system to compete with the new incoming one.... Backward compatibility. They are testing if the console can follow. Just so you can keep playing with quest 2 on quest 3 games. Aka what xbox and playstation did.

My headset has been more broken than ever, I try to play beat saber with my friends and it immediately crashes the moment I join a lobby. Plus I get random freezes and junk. I’m definitely moving to PCVR soon. Since I only have a small handful of games
the white flickering spots have been on standalone for me since V51
So far the update has been fine for me but I did factory reset my quest a little bit before the update
Ever since V54 my quest has had memory issues while playing B&S and can’t even handle a dungeon higher than two stars in length or difficulty without crashing and telling me my memory is low
i use airlink most of the time and that still makes my headset die quickly and if the quest 2 is just draining its battery for speed that's not even going to be used, it will be very annoying for people using airlink
Sadly that date and time Break is still a prevelant issue and it seems theres no good way of fixing it anymore :c

I had the network lag in v53. I couldn't play VD or Airlink it was bad. My sons Q2 now has the bug on v55
I had lag spikes on Air link after update, and reseting quest to factory settings to fixed this
airlink/virtual desktop have been really shifty for me ever since i got the quest in v53 or something (can't remember) sometimes it can't find my pc even though my network is perfectly fine and sometimes it can
it's really annoying
As of now Air Link while it detects my pc it doesnt bind to the app, didnt knew it was the update which caused this
I guess from what I've seen so far in this video, it's a good thing I disabled updates back before the Android OS was updated & broke modded Beat Saber, as I'm currently am not experiencing any of these issues as I'm still back on v50 & haven't had the motivation to see what's going on involving if I can update & still play modded Beat Saber, given the current issues I'll probably stay put for the time being.
Ever since the last update tracking has been really annoying on the pro and the pass through becomes white and black and whatever game I play it says that my controller is heated and needs to shut down
Btw, for anyone that's having a Ninja Star in your Link/AirLink, you need to disable Mobile ASW, It'll be in the Oculus debug menu.

Oh! You're gonna like it! I'm an oldster who can't even be called a "casual" gamer, but VR is terrific on a number of levels. I'm all in and hoping it really develops and grows. (If anyone else reads this with aging eyes and progressive lenses you use your distance Rx for Oculus 2 lenses.)
you should keep it until meta abandons it, or it breaks. I have had one for over a year, so I am getting a quest 3 for Christmas.
@@Stikzzvr While I am paying attention to who might be coming out with what for the next gen VR stuff... right now I am also totally planning on getting the Quest 3 when it comes out.
@@nsbd90now good idea, also since meta has changed the battery life for quest 2 and made it a lot worse.
@@Stikzzvr I'm so not even a "casual" gamer I don't come up against the battery issue... too much... but even I do notice it going down seemingly pretty quickly. They have those straps that put a battery at the back, which seems good to have some weight back there.

What is the game you put in the backround?
ive had a weird bug with airlink before this update idk when but a while back on airlink whenever i would set it up the side of my screen would warp out. Its weird to explain but it basically looks blurry and screeched out and the only way i can fix it is resetting airlink or changing the fps and resolution higher then lower multiple times until it fixes.
Airlink hasn't worked for me for months on either the quest 2 or the quest pro - thank god for Virtual Desktop.

It's crazy because I was streaming beat saber with kiv couldn't figure out why I was dropping frames I couldn't figure out anything on my end

What game were you watching playing at the start
These are some issues I’m still trying to work out on my oculus quest 2
1. Games crashing because of software glitches within playing the quest, sometimes not being able to get back into the game or saying that it’s memory is low when it’s not.
2. My quest boundaries especially the floor level becoming bugged causing me to float within my home where I select my games, and it Carries over to the games as well.
3. Now this is a new problem I’ve seen, and it’s when the Home Screen turn’s completely black during opening or closing games and turning it off and back on usually fixes this but it’s still annoying.
4. Unable to track controllers, my controllers will sometimes appear to move when your not moving them or totally not move when you move them. especially with vibration within games
5. My oculus quest 2 seems to get viruses very easily and quickly if connected to something that seems harmless and meant to help it like a computer. Your flipping a coin hoping it’s not gonna get effected. This causes it to overload and makes it unresponsive sometimes! The oculus runs blindly so it’s not like windows defender where it can spot everything because the oculus can’t spot nothing
6. Casting not catching sound or footage especially when effects it’s files, this problem only effects you if your recording something or watching it from something else. Which in return causes more issues for very few games

I had the flickering in v54, it sucks. I reset my headset, it was fixed for a week until I got v55.
Its honestly shocking how many things are wrong with this thing, I have barely used mine at all and yet nothing is loading and nothing I’ve tried has worked!
V54 broke my Quest Pro when it came to wireless PCVR. V55 has fixed all the issues I was having. PCVR was super stuttering on 54 and on 55 it is back to smooth
Airlink broke at v54 then in v55 it finally fixed it.
Bruh the fact I can get mods without pc and just be balling on stand alone quest is crazy

I have no idea when it started, but sometime this year games have started kicking me out saying "there is not enough memory to run this app" even though I have over 40 gb free -_-

Air link was not working for me for a long time (it would just be a black screen), v55 fixed the issue...
the update i got most recently did the most frustrating thing, my controllers kept disconnecting and i had wicked stick drift, got the the point where trying to use my quest was irritating, i could relax, then i factory reset, lo and behold, the drift was gone and my controllers never disconnected again, also, i did have that pixel issue which is now gone, the battle was won, but who knows about the war, just factory reset it, especially if you mainly use it for quest link

Bro wait for quest 3 or new steam headset. I just picked up a quest 2 and was almost gonna get a quest pro but financially most sensible thing is to keep your Q2 till the new stuff comes out then upgrade.
