  • THE LEGEND OF TOSCANO
As fact is often more mysterious than fiction, Toscano cigar was first produced and given its name by pure accident almost two centuries ago. Its history is by now legend. Florence, 1815: At a tobacco factory belonging to Ferdinand III (then the Grand Duke of Tuscany), a bale of Kentucky tobacco leaves which had been drying in the open were caught in an unexpected downpour of rain.
The wet tobacco started to ferment. Instead of throwing all the tobacco into River Arno, the fermented leaves were dried and made into inexpensive cigars to offer to the people of Florence. A simple band is put around each cigar, which today is still one of Toscano's characteristics.
Its uniquely "new" flavor and rich aroma became an instant success with the Italian people, and soon garnered much popularity amongst some of its prestigious smokers such as King Vittorio Emanuele II, Garibaldi, Verdi, Puccini, Mascagni. And finally found its way between the fingers of notable artists such Renzo Piano, Mario Soldati, Marcello Mastroianni, Francis Ford Coppola and Sergio Leone, who made it famous through Clint Eastwood in some of his unforgettable Spaghetti Westerns.
    Aged: 12 months
    Wrapper: American Kentucky
    Filler: Italian and American Kentucky
    Ring Gauge: 36

Hi Ali, compliments for your channel, i subscribed. I'm Italian, travelled a lot and lived abroad in a few countries for many years, tried all cigars but at the end of the day i prefer Italian toscano cigars(especially TOSCANO ANTICA RISERVA (not the antico you review here which is still good). I don't know if it's my heritage, my taste, my last name(eheh that real, yes my last name is Toscani). my dad worked in the administration of the Italian Tobacco Company for almost 20 years and he smokes toscano too eheh. now toscani are privately owned but the quality is the same. I still love the good cubans and other cigars from other countries but toscani have a completely different taste. for me they re a completely different smoke. so they cannot really compare to other cigars. i can compare cubans to hondurean or dominican but toscanos shouldnt even be compared( you like them or not) eheh and i guess you know why after you have tasted them. they re so different and they are so GOOD

A tip from a toscano smoker. It even gets better if you keep toscanos in a humidor in around 65% RH. It makes it a bit milder and the aromas are coming out better. Especially the "heavier" toscanos" like antico....
    Nice job mister....

Smoking one whilst i watch this review. I get a strong woody taste.... I want to say cedar maybe? A undertone of coffee like bitterness and a pepper. Good smoke for the money if you ask me... I love Toscano's! Dont be afraid to give em a try gents! Great smoke to split with a friend too!

I'm not a big fan of italian cigars because to me they are so strong and the leaves inside are all cut into small pieces like a sigarette would be, the label cames out only because usually they are dried way too much...i fall in love with Nicaragua's
Toscani have no evolution when it comes to taste also because italians like to cut cigars in shorts what a nightmare for me...maybe the only italian i would try is the Nostrano del Brenta from Veneto region

Great review! I know Toscano's are very unique but how do you think they compare to Cubans? For the price and the taste, I think they are just as enjoyable.
