Hey man just got recommended your channel, I’m an American truck driver and it’s cool to see how different it is there. I’ve never driven a coe truck before but it seems like they are definitely purpose built to navigate the tighter roads there. Cool video and great insight. I subbed stay safe on the road buddy ✌️

its also because of the HARD lenght limit for normal commercial trucks
so taking off the nose adds some extra metres/yards cargo

@@_.A.J._ agreed. Too polite in my opinion, because I am not used to it. I am used to intuitively decide when to give up my priority whenever the flow of traffic can be bettered for example or for someone running after a bus for example. But the Brits just let anyone pass whenever, wherever, seemingly no logic behind it other than wanting you to be in front of them😂

@@TheStingyRay Brits are good drivers in general, very aware. About the giving way, in my opinion it's just time wasting other than that no big deal. In extreme traffic, we'll also filter side streets in, zipper style but if traffic is rolling or driving no one's stopping if they have priority. We might slow down a little, see if you wanna filter in, but if you're indecisive you missed your chance lol. Depending where you could even get honked at for making a priority stream of cars stop.

Driving once in the UK, I had to ajust really to driving on the left side. I had to think about that when I saw the driving seat here on the left. We did go with our own car, otherwise I thought, I had to get used to a different handling (gearbox on the left instead of the right), but it still was quit difficult, especially on the roundabouts. Driving with a truck that must be even more difficult, big respect!

I used to tour around Europe with a Motorhome and for me it was always a pleasure driving anywhere across the Channel compared to what we put up with in UK! The Autobahns in Germany are an absolute joy to drive and service area facilities are top class and there's always oceans of parking space. I don't know if they charge for HGV's but Motorhomes and cars have no charge at all and you can stay as long as you need. I've parked up on some which even had barbeques for people to use.

The Tory/Windsor/Oligarch climate of land ownership/lordship over the great British serf/peasants is what prevents the people of the UK from leading as pleasant a life as those on the European continent.
Funny how the Russian influence in Londongrad over the push for Brexit, has come at great expense to the serf/peasants, and gains of the Tory/Windsor/Oligarch set.
Vote Tory, and support the Windsor crown, and you're basically voting to for you, and your children, to keep getting eff'd in the 'B'!

  • @Jay_Force_One

Besides that much smaller space, those European trucks are set up much better. Like the way they decide to use space is much cleaner and much more organized.
I’ve always argued that American trucks should go back to Cab-Overs. We could still slap large sleeper cabs on the pack. The issue is they tend to be less fuel efficient, have a shorter wheel base, and can’t host as large of an engine as “Conventional” trucks. With the super heavy loads and long distance trips they tend to do in the US, it’s just not worth missing out on those 3 advantages.

And these days the Dutch people prefer you call their nation the Netherlands which is actually it's proper term as Holland only really refers to a particular area of the Netherlands.

i often drive whole weeks towards austria, krotia or even denmark sometimes. but i also work warehouse every other week. what i do usually, is during the weeks i'm at home i make meals and chuck them in the freezer at home, and before i leave i have one of those insulated boxes they also use for pizza's etc. chuck them in the back of the trailer and just go, usually gives me atleast 4 days of home made food. saves you some money as well and fridays we usually gather with a few drivers from out company at a stop near mannheim (if coming from austria) or oyten when coming from denmark with a few drivers and eat there.

There was miraculously no accident, but I discovered that my brain is not wired for driving a right hand drive car on the wrong side of the road. Sad, because I love the country. But really I will not do it again.

Hi. Ireland calling. Drove a truck around Europe for 23 years. Holland is a great country to drive in. The red light was still lit on your toll box. That means you hadn’t registered it correctly. The first camera that picks up your registration will see no toll box. That’s a €1500 fine. Plus get yourself a proper truck sat nav and don’t be using the phone.

THANKS MATE. I'M STILL ALWAYS GRATEFUL FOR WHAT WE HAVE IN BRITAIN, AND AM ALWAYS DISMAYED AT HOW PEOPLE ARE ALWAYS EAGER TO COMPLAIN , BECAUSE WE'RE NOT FOR EXAMPLE, DRIVING ON ROADS LIKE ZIMBABWE, OR CONGO etc.

What is wrong with complaining about the UK's roads not being properly maintained? We are equally wealthy as a country as other places in Europe which have better roads. Comparisons with third world countries are ridiculous

You cut put the part out in Calais when you enter the motorway and it goes from 70 to 90 and trucks borderline ram cars up to speed or into the left lane. Experience has told me that until you get onto real 110 motorway, stay behind a truck and you’ll go faster than the lost British tourists going 60 in the left lane.

Great video thanks for taking us along on the ride, just one question though why don't you use a proper sat nav I know the good ones for trucking are expensive but surely if your going into Europe more would it not be worth investing in. Ps not a criticism just wondering 🤔 👍👍

I have just started the video, and you are saying that you are "going to Holland, just outside Antwerp". Just to let you know that Holland is a province in The Netherlands and that Antwerp is a city in Belgium, which is another country
