To start go to the WordPress dashboard. In the left-side menu, click on Posts or Pages. Whichever you are wanting the gallery to be added to. The steps are the same whether it’s a post or page. I’ll click Pages. I’ll find a page and click edit.
I’m now on the editor for the page. You can click the plus icon here or the plus icon here at the top. I’ll click the plus icon here. I’ll search Gallery. I’ll select Gallery.
You’ll see Gallery show up here. I’ll click Media Library. You can then choose images you have uploaded to WordPress. The upload files tab you can upload images for your gallery from your computer.
I’ll go ahead and select a bunch of images I want to show in the Gallery. Next, I’ll click the create a new gallery button. You’ll see caption underneath each image. You can add in a caption if you’d like. Next, I’ll click the insert gallery button. You’ll now see the Gallery has been added to the page. Next, let’s cover the settings and customizations for the gallery.
If you click into an image you can put in an alternative text. You’ll see resolution. You can change this if you’d like. Where you see Styles. You can change this to rounded if you’d like.
If you want to move an image to a different order in the gallery. Click the image you want to move and then you can click the arrows left or right to place it where you’d like.
If you click into any image in the gallery. Then click the Select Gallery icon. Next, if you click add you can add new images to the Gallery. If you click the Gallery icon.
You’ll see different types you can choose for the gallery.
Over to the right, you’ll see Columns. You can change this to however many columns you want for your gallery.
You’ll see link to. Click this and from the dropdown you can select none, media, and attachment. If you leave it to none.
When you click an image on the gallery of your site nothing will happen. Here’s an example. I’ll click the image and nothing is pulled up. Next, let me cover the attachment image. The attachment image will pull up the attachment image page. You can choose to have the image open in a new tab if you’d like. Here’s an example of the attachment page. I’ll click the image and it’s now taken me to the attachment image page. A popular option is choosing media file.
You can then choose to have the image open in a new tab if you’d like. I’ll leave this to how it is. I’ll show you an example of this. First, I’ll click update to save my changes. I’ll then click the view page icon. I’ll click into the gallery of the page. You’ll see the image is brought up to view. You’ll notice there aren’t any arrows or anything showing to view the next image. Now let me show you how to do this. Go to the WordPress dashboard.
Find the plugins tab in the left-side menu. Hover over plugins. Click add new. In the search field type in featherlight. You’ll see WP featherlight - a simple Jquery Lightbox.
