Gorr is not the villain tho if you think about it. Basically all gods in the marvel universe are horrible self entitled shitheads. After finally seeing it for myself and in my opinion. Bale's performance as Gorr was pretty damn good. I like how there was an undertone of horror to him. To be presented as this killer of gods and his utilization of shadows and having a dark-themed power (hence the sword) worked. And his change in appearance intertwined with it. I'm curious to how things would have worked with the original design (seen the concept art and read Kevin's view) but this...he's like the Pennywise of Marvel. Toying with his victims, inspiring fear to the maximum and killing endlessly.
I remember when everyone was complaining about him not being CG'ed. But here's the thing... 1. Marvel wouldn't have hired someone like Christian Bale, just to cover him in CGI. 2. Bale is worth a hell of a lot more than anything any CGI creator can make. 3. Christian Bale is well-known for never using CGI. He proved us all wrong.
The inory of Zeus being in this movie was one my wife and I talked about for like over an hour after watching this movie. We're 29 and we met in elementary school and we've loved comic books for as far back as we can remember, along with various mythos and pantheons. So to hear a rather recent and epic villian, Gorn was going to be in this movie...no thoughts about it.. had to see it, lbvs. And she blew my friggin mind when she draw a very crucial and subtle connection between Gorn and Zeus. When Zeus wanted revenge on his uncle, Prometheus (and YES, he is Zeus's uncle whether its actually said to be in the mythology's tales. There are only 4 deity generations. Primordial gods/beings, Titans, gods, demigods. So technically speaking Zeus IS Prometheus's nephew, lbvs. But when Zeus commissions Prometheus to create beings to serve and worship him, and Prometheus agrees- he does so exhibiting exactly what his name means. Foresight. He knew what Zeus would do and how wretched he'd be, so he created man and taught them independence. When Zeus discovered it he set out to hurt Prometheus and sabotage his creation, without killing them & making them pray to the gods, by having Hephaestus create Pandora and her box, sends her to earth where she meets and falls in love with Epometheus (Prometheus's brother), most of us know what took place next. But the key ingredient to work as the constant battery of man's new suffering was hope. Bcz he knew when we would try to continue to find peace and hope. Not finding it would bring about a suffering making them pray to the gods for their help. And that is literally Gorn in a nutshell in this movie. He embodies the true suffering of having no hope. He lost everyone he knew and loved. Seeking refuge in Rapu, he finds out he and his ppl were only created to serve him. And goes to be the living testament and example that a man/woman with very little hope is worlds greater and preferable than one who has no hope left. The hurt, pain, rage, brokenness, emptiness, the suffering, not caring about himself nor anyone else, the despair, the bitterness, etc. He isn't evil for the sake of being eagle. Everything he does is out of pain and grief. Even when terrifying and kidnapping of the Asgardian children, when he noticed the lil girl when she voiced that she was scared. He saw his daughter and begins to shed tears. Gorn is much like Thanos, the perpetuate and indulged in very extreme and evil actions. But they're not trying to be evil. In fact, it's the opposite. Gorn believes if all gods are killed, no one will ever be deceived & heartbroken believing and serving gods who don't care for them and delight in their suffering. Like he once was. It's why he brought of the slaughtered valkyries to the sole living valkyrie. He search to find and kill all gods leads him to find those that the gods failed &/or betrayed. Evidenced by the fact that Gorn and his ppl served and only knew one god...their own. Gorn isn't trying to be hurtful to Val, he's letting her know that he knows exactly how she felt/feels & show her why the gods she respected, loved, served etc don't deserve it. He literally tells her that he is creating true peace. Making everyone to be like the way Prometheus made man and before Pandora. With Gorn in his own perpetual suffering like Prometheus was as punishment of defying gods and trying to free mankind. When my wife said this...🤯🤯🤯💯💯💯😆😆😆. Thanos straddle the fence of wrong and evil. As their actions are wrong but they aren't truly [quote/unquote] evil. They're doing the wrong things by for the right reasons. And for Thor to know what man has felt, after going to his fellow gods for help. And they refused to do so. And though he hates gods (including Thor, himself) he identifies with Thor's dilemma and pain, as death encroaches on Jane with every waking day. As Thor can't stop it, like Gorn couldn't do so for his daughter. The script for Gorn and Bale's portrayal sees Gorn being the closest to reaching the parallel level of Thanos. IMO. It was awesome

Gorr: "Gods are selfish and don't care about the children who follow them, like my daughter, now where is your god when you need him?" Kids: "Thor will rescue us!" Gorr: "Yes, just as I'm expecting" 🤔
That’s the point. In the comics Thor dubs gorr the god of hypocrisy because he just proved the point that gods do care. Then have one kid say he's lying, which will gorr would raise his voice and scream at them, which THEN scares the kids. Then have him sit down and tell the kids to pray for Thor and see if he comes or not as a form of mockery.
I’m not super familiar with the comics character, but i see your point with the character. I did see something interesting in another comment. Looks like Voldemort got tired of hogwarts
Bale having a blast is the only good thing about this movie
my problem with this scene is that gorr lost his daughter. You would think he would leave children out of his equation.
Santa is in down well done bat
Me:Gorr look like palpatine
Haha, he is pretty much a Marvel Sith Lord come to think of it.
When Christian Bale is Bateman not Batman.
Watching Bale go ham as Gorr and keep his Brit accent with some Bateman vibes.
If DC make a multiverse movies about justice league I wish that Christine bale as batman the batman who laughs
0:39 Powerpuff Girls reference?
Thought that ship sailed with Rapu...
Rapu f***ed up at the start of the movie. RAPU. F***ED. UP.
we need a serie about Gorr i love this character Christian Bale play it so great
Gore is my hero..
Get some pennywise vibes from him
Gorr the God butcher - Gorr the God kidnapper.
* the God Bitcher
@@AngelofMusic04 the god bitcher😂🤣
I saw a review for T:LAT that said, “I wish I could see the movie Christian Bale thought he was in.”
Just saying they totally missed an opportunity to introduce kratos
