I'm going to build one by modifying a video lighting tripod. Any type of speaker audio stand can be modified to be used as a bike stand. As long as the base is wide enough, and you can clamp things onto the side, you're half way done.

I just built this today, works perfectly. I'm probably going to use a microfiber cloth around the seat post when mounting to the clamp but overall very good option for the money. Thank you!

Update. I built same vise but movable.I can take it anyplace outside my garage and inside.I did hit my head twice on vise handle sticking out while working on the bike.Something to be aware of otherwise its killer set up and I did add pipe insulation foam on inside the vise and lips for not scratching bike.

I have a wood shop with all those pipe clamps. I'm going to try that out for my bike. Thanks for a cool idea.

I’m definitely stealing ideas from this to build my own. Great design, probably the best on CZcams 👍

Great idea!!! I used 1/2 inch pipe and a pipe clamp bar clamp i had lying around. $10 for a floor flange and piece of 6” pipe. Zip tied a thick piece of inner tube to the clamp to protect bike frames. Thanks!!! Works great under back deck

Great idea, I've already got everything to build one, including the clamp. I'll mount mine on a workbench. Thanks for the idea.

I did the same exact thing, except I bought a pair of wide mouth vise grips and welded two pieces of angle iron to the tips, so that when the vise grips are closed, the angle iron pieces formed a square. This way, it's a quick clamp to any post. Don't forget a shop rag or something to keep from scratching.

Love the ceiling mount concept !!! Not all of us have much available floor space in our garages. I will attempt this or a variation of this for my garage.

Great idea. I just modified it a little and it works great. I mounted it to a wall instead of the ceiling and unscrew the pipe from the mounting bracket when I'm done. I can't believe how simple and effective this was. Plus now I have an 18" pipe clamp. Thanks for the inspiration.
