  • This is a full guide on how to tell the difference between a real fur tail and a faux (fake) fur tail. This is to help prevent people from accidentally buying real fur tails from cruel fur farms when intending to buy a faux fur tail instead. It can sometimes be hard to tell the differences, but I am here to explain them all!

My mom actually bought me therian gear for christmas and I was shocked that she was so good at finding faux fur tails! Now thanks to this video I know for sure the tails are fake ^^

A small correction on the fake “foam” tails; they’re not always filled with foam. It’s quite common for them to be stuffed with pillow stuffing, fabric scraps or even foam scraps, especially when you’re buying one from a fursuit maker. Using scraps to stuff a tail is a great way to get some use out of materials that would otherwise get thrown away, which is a little more eco friendly.

I'd add an advice, if you have a tail at your hands, not in a store try the burn test! Trim a couple of hairs and ignite them. If they burn like hair, there's ash, then it’s the real fur. Faux fur melts in a sticky way, forming a hard plastic ball as cooled.

  • @voilocollective

The plastic thing is actually the main reason why I am working on making yarn tails from real wool. They are more expensive as wool is not cheap, but they don't shed microplastics or run the risk of being cruel (or at least not more cruel than general farming)

  • @J0naaaaaaaaaaa......

The nice thing abt this video is that you not only learn how to spot if a tail is real or fake, you also learn how to make your faux fur tails more realistic.

  • @InactiveAccount222

I bought a tail from a sweet seller in Poland and I’m hoping it was from an ethically sourced farm/roadkill because I asked her and she said she bought it from someone else, Judging by the price and quality (that I’ve heard from reviews) it seems that the fox had lived a long fulfilled life and died a painless death, and the person readying the tail for selling had done a good job. I’m so incredibly excited for it to arrive <3 (also my mum thought you were around 14 after I showed her your video on how to spot ethically sourced tails from cruel ones, and showing her your description lol)

  • @fluffycat2728

I’m watching all your tail videos because I’m a beginner quadrobist (not a therian) and I just want the tail for fun. Seems so cool even though I’m kinda embarrassed to ask to buy it. I find it really important if what I’m buying is good for the environment and the foxes. Thank you for representing the therian community and helping people out.

  • @FourPawedVenus

Great information! Glad you’re here to help people before they buy any tails :]

  • @CraftyTherians

This was very helpful because I bought a real wolf/fox tail and they labeled it as faux fur

  • @CorvidArt

Thanks for this video! I posted warnings about these kind of tails on IG and TikTok but sadly not many people saw it. I will definetely share your video around! It is really important that those who are planning to get tails get them ethically!

  • @divinationsystem

    We always need more tails!

  • @eileenlittle8852

New video!! <3 love it when you post thorn ❤ btw thanks for getting me through the rough times of being a therian and helping me figure out my true identity! I know I’m not alone and I’m welcomed here, also I accidentally bought a tail that said faux fur..and it was real :( but I didn’t mean it- honestly idk what I was thinking but it dosnt look like it’s cruel!

  • @KatjaSootyFrost

I just bought a fake tail and I checked if it was fake by another video (PDs vid) and I still couldn't figure out if it was real or fake... And watching this I thought it was fake, BUT THEN YOU FOUND IT ON YOUR SEARCH- I LOVE THE TAIL BUT I FEEL SO BAD- CAN YOU TELL ITS DEFINATLY REAL FROM THE PICTURE? It's at

  • @fuzzytadpole
