2023 BMW G80 M3 6 Speed 3 Month Ownership Update | A Different Kind of Love Hate Relationship

- 2023 BMW G80 M3 6 Speed 3 Month ownership update and 1200 mile Break In service discussion among other things. So far I am enjoying the M3 every single drive I take. Fun factor is high especially for the manual gearbox and the raw personality I added with the REMUS Race exhaust. The BMW G80 M3 is the best driving BMW M3 platform ever created in all regards. Every single modification I have done has made the car even more fun to drive and more suited to my personality. Next up we will be putting on new summer tires either a Pirelli Corsa or Michelin Cup 2 we will see what I can get. I am doing the H&R suspension kit in about a week to lower and tighten things up some more as I dislike how much squat occurs on hard launches now stock. I will also be doing some other mods Il report back on in another future video. Thanks for watching and if anyone has questions on the BMW G80 M3 shoot me an email anytime to talk.
To recap the only dislikes on the car are the physical size, I just prefer a smaller car these days, LCD screen aesthetics on the dash, the gauge graphics and how dirty the bottom of the car gets. I absolutely love the carbon buckets, Isle of Man /Orange color spec, wheels, ride and suspension, braking exhaust sound and performance of the manual gearbox. You must modify the G80X platform and the exhaust is mandatory to inject some raw personality into the refined nature of this vehicle. The RWD manual is the icing on the cake for me. The car is so much fun to jump in and drive daily. Best decision I made was to get a manual transmission sport sedan that is daily livable. I am so tired of automatics and mega horsepower that you can never use on public roads.

Appreciate the perspective on the G80. It is really growing on me. I love that green. I am just not sure I want to spend the money on one.
I have a couple of Mazdas and the dealer provides the same type of video when in for service. Shows everything they inspect and what is needed. I really appreciate that and I suspect they got that from BMW.
Great videos, i knew from the first one I came across you were somewhere in Westchester NY.
Yup BMW did that for me too. Great service experience!👍😎
Good to hear!
IND makes some nice color matched seat bolster protectors you can consider to preserve that area.
Also, Tommy L Garage makes some subtle mud flaps that may help keep your side skirts and lower areas cleaner for longer. 👍🏼
I looked at those seat protectors but I am brainstorming another option to make myself. I have carbon front flaps already on the front and tried them with and without but the skirt still gets filthy i might be the PPF as someone on IG commented the PPF caused more dirt attraction.
I’m glad you made the switch welcome to BMW😄❗️
Great review! I think older people like bright color cars because of all the muscle car colors back in the day! Also the front lip is a must for sure!!!
I totally agree!
IT is always nice to hear honest reviews of cars instead of the eco-chamber that the vast majority of other reviews. Seems most car journalists just say the same thing.
17:30 I wish Eventuri made intakes for Alfa.
😹those jokes had me cracking up!!!!! ABSOLUTELY hilarious... If we are lucky we get a chance to be old. Great video!!!!
Glad you enjoyed
Great video as always. You've made a small comparison between the quadrifoglio and the m3. It would be great to make a full video comparing the quadrifoglio and the m3, I bet that a lot of us are between those 2 models, would be amazing if we could hear your opinion sice you've now owned both models. Keep up the good work, once of the nicesc car channels, cheers!
We are going to do a comparison video we actually we comparing both cars today in size and sound and the M3 with my Remus exhaust is so loud you cant even hear the Alfa QV running in Race mode lol its coming stay tuned.
Love the DIALED IN! Do not wash tag!
Great video. Very informative! I’ve got a G80 Xdrive Automatic (can’t get the manual in the UK😢) on order. A little concerned about the seat wear. Have you found anything to cover them maybe?
I cant wait to see the new grill designs!
I personally love the green color and the EPA can suck it, your car sounds awesome 👍😁
me too the color combo rocks! wait til you see the full exhaust video soon on the channel
Having a G80 on order - I am loving your G80 content. Keep up the great work. And yes - would be interested in seeing a behind the scenes video of the BMW service dept.
thanks Mike I will work on the service video, coming from my prior service nightmares it was shocking to say the least but this may be normal for regular BMW owners we shall see what others comment on when I post that video
@@autofanaticcars having owned bmws for the past 7 years - the service experience has always been top notch I will say.
Hey, how long does the order takes in general?
Quick clarification question, @13:15 when you begin to describe how you fix the brake squeal, all you did was put anti seize paste on the studs? If so that’s an awesome and easy fix! Beautiful car, I’m in the process of ordering a twilight purple M3
The alcantara shift knob is a really nice touch!
Super nice ride, color, style etc. BMW/Mini or Warwick RI does the video's as well and is very painless, actually pleasant to deal with, imagine that. Even if the Alfa's steering was "sharper" H.P. etc. is it worth the trade off? The steering on my manual rack VW Mk2 (back in the late 80's) felt like you were scraping your knuckles on the asphalt. That's all gone and possibly for the better as steering racks seem quicker now.
FYI: I make noises getting out of cars too :(
the geometry on the M3 is far better for performance than a stock QV I am amazed how the chassis specs are so aggressive on the M3 where as the QV has no negative camber at all up front and barely any in the rear where as the BMW has -2 and a 8 degree caster sweep which is unheard of on a street car. The steering on the M3 has gotten quicker and more responsive with more miles I drive. I drove the QV today it feels so different and reminds me of a Tesla Model 3 performance it has so much reactive feel as if it was torque vectoring on all 4 wheels its just a different experience that a majority of consumers hate which is why Alfa completely changed the cars geometry in late 2019 up until this model year the 17-19 cars totally different.
Good to go
Loved all your videos. Thinking to order the G80 but was a little concerned about the RWD in winter times. I have been all life long with audi and had only driven stick a4, s4, s5 and r8. Since audi is Quattro I was a bit less concerned about the car in snow or ice. Since G80 only offered stick with RWD, have you personally had issues with RWD in snow/storms…etc., I am from Long Island tho, probably much lesser snow than Westchester, any suggestions, would love to hear from you!! Thanks man.
Im personally not an AWD fan unless it is an SUV if you have proper winter tires you will never have issues in the snow these cars are so good with their traction systems the tires are the critical link. I never had issues and always owned high hp RWD performance cars and driven them all year long.
Old school Adidas gym shoes to match your car, very cool😎 (I've got green suade Pumas which are green, they DO NOT match my car though)
For the steering steering, how close of the match to the oem Kylami Orange?
yours looks way better than the light blue version i saw a review on.
Id def consider yours.
I called the blue one a overpriced honda lol.
(i drive a '16 holden HSV)
Great video! Maybe I missed it, where did you get the carbon front lip? Or who is the manufacturer? TIA.
I made a specific video on the carbon fiber lip check the channel
That is my dream spec G80. I'm highly considering selling one of my MKIV Supras once completed to get into a G80
Which service department was this? BMW of freeport?
I am also getting this exact color combo except with xdrive competition model
What front lip is that!? Awesome car I’m status 153 right now for my 2025…the wait is killing me.
There is a full video and installation of this carbon front spoiler on this channel if you search my G80 content
Great video, thanks for sharing. I know you are looking to sell them but how are those Michelin All Seasons? Do you think a 6spd G80 owner would be better off running winters?
the tires are great I just prefer a stiffer summer only tire because it makes the ride firmer which i prefer. Considering we had no snow this year I could have run the Pzeros all winter long. Dedicated winters can be an expensive investment if you do wheels and all but the All Seasons are perfect in colder temps and paved roads and light snow no fear or worries.
I would get the tld mud flaps it helps keep the side of the car clean. Helped me big time in my f80
I made carbon front flaps if you look close youll see them they keep water and dirty away but not all the accumulated dust. few commented that the PPF does attached dust due to static charge so I may ceramic coat the rockers this spring.
@@autofanaticcars good point. I live in the desert so my black car is dusty all the time
Yep every BMW we service gets a video shot at the end with recs and info
Phil, it would be awesome to do a DIY on the suspension, there is not a good one on YT and Im sure people will appreciate it
I did the full H&R kit today the car is so easy to do the suspension swaps and I was going to do videos but there are so many videos already on the subject. I did the front rear by myself this morning in 2.2 hours flat taking my time
Have you sold the tires yet? I’m in Westchester as well
Love the BIMMER! Tell me your still have the GT 350R?
I still have the GT350R and 500
Need to know how the steering feel is against the Alfa (all things being equal). Own a 2019 x3 , test drove a Stelvio and thought dynamically the Stelvio was superior but the dealer experience is better with the BMW…
Hi Paul the more miles I put on the M3 the steering seems to have loosen up and feels way better than it did initially. The crazy thing about the G80 platform is the chassis geometry. These cars unlike the Alfa have negative camber all around and a very high caster angle up front. Tires also have a huge role in steering feel on the BMW when I switched to the Michelins is became a different car in every respect. I am lowering the front and back some more and will do a custom alignment in a week or so and t his should make it even better.
Love the green on orange, not a fan of the new dash the old dash looks better in my opinion,I don’t care about big screens 😅
i agree and i mentioned this in the video Mercedes does a much nicer job integrating the tech and screen than BMW did here.
Can you do a driving video describing the feel of the steering, turn in, rotation, accelerating out of a corner feel, and braking feel compared to the Alfa. Thanks
I will be doing videos soon on the QV and M3 together once the temps warm up a bit to have more spirited driving and we switch over to summer tires. The first video comparing both cars will be comparing the physical sizes which would be cool to show everyone what I mean when I say the M3 is and feels larger. The one teaser il share is the M3 chassis alignment specs are way more set up for sportier and track driving versus the Alfa QV that is comparing both cars stock out of the box I am shocked to see how different the geometry of both cars are.
@@autofanaticcars That's exactly what I would love to watch. Thanks!
Whaaaa rippin the taconic
Great informative video Phil, glad you strongly considered the ct4 v blackwing. I do agree with your comments on the areas Cadillac dealers and what's available to mod these cars. I have a 19 ats v and I'm not at all confident that the Westchester / Dutchess county area Cadillac dealers have competent techs that are knowledgeable on these cars since there aren't that many on the road.
yeah when I had several modified CTSV the techs at Pepe and Greenwich were cool with me but I do not think those teams still work there so I have no relationships with any of them these days and this also worried me. amazing cars in every respect but the limited dealers worried me and these guys mostly do oil changes I doubt they get special training on the V series cars. I modified the suspension on my CTSV and they all blew the Magneride shocks because there was only 1 spring choice available. Now compare 1 option of springs to about 100 options on the BMW platform from springs, coilovers to adjustable spring kits it is so much more supported in the aftermarket which is what I wanted this time around,
Two guys at Pepe who used to work at Mark Buick in Yonkers were great techs, Ron Pizzuti and Remo Balsamo. Ron was probably one of the most knowledgeable techs (shop foreman ) GM ever had. I think Ron retired but Remo is still there. Not sure if you knew these guys though. I bought my 86 Grand National when they worked there.
wow I knew Ron well he use to do alignments on my vintage hot rods years back at the Caddy dealer and he lived near me. We met at a local car cruise show a few times and thats how we connected when I had my 69 Chevelle. he was a cool guy and a car guy. as time goes on all these guys are retiring even the techs and the new generations coming in are horrible and lack experience and training it seems.
From what I'm hearing, the impression I get of the Cadillac Blackwings is that they are brilliant cars ruined by external factors like dealer markups, poor after-sales and aftermarket support. Those are things most auto journalists don't address.
AUTOFANATIC! What’s the name for a sticky clay that would help me pull off the start stop button out of a G20-G80? I know these kits come with black clay but no one says the type of clay
no idea what your talking about clay if your trying to remove the button use a trim removal tool
At anytime did you get irritated with the seats and shifting? Wasn't sure if the aggressive seat shape had any negative impact on shifting with leg, etc.
the seats when your in them are amazing and do not affect leg movement to shift. you actually sit a bit higher than some sports cars in these seats and shifting is a breeze. they are still a PITA to get out of which does annoy me still but the small sacrifice is worth it.
I would get black car, gold wheels and paint the front grill gold as well. I think that would look bad ass.
black with gold wheels would be really nice i am considering making my wheels a satin gold color just not sure yet how it will look on my car
Im considering a C8 or CT4 V BW manual. Also Stelvio Q. Had a manual in the past and coming from CTS Vsport. Figured it would be more fun then the C8 actually. Seems you also would take the manual BW? Thanks, not easy to test drive anything and appreciate the expertise. Not the biggest GM fan either but kinda want to buy American. ✌️
the CT4V BW is an awesome car and they are very rare as it looks like GM is not making many of those cars. with the manual gearbox it will be much more fun and practical than a C8 any day.
I’m in the same boat. I put in an order for a Camaro ZL1 1LE considering it’ll be the last, but I’m not sure my build is gonna get approved. So my backups are a ct4-vBW, a G80 or g82, or a c8
im in the process of selling my G80 M3, awesome car but the carbon seats are torture for me daily and the car is a bit too big for me to park in NYC tight spots always gives me anxiety. The CT4 BW is the absolute best car in this class i feel with the manual, smaller size and awesome chassis but Caddy name does not excite me. I am considering going back to Alfa and getting a 23 QV, Maybe a C8 70th Anniversary drop top. My advice is go drive them and see but if a manual is a must the G80, Caddy are the only options right now for a sport sedan.
@@autofanaticcars I hear ya man. You have good taste in cars because they’re all good choices 🔥 I’ll look for videos on those in the future
its funny if you had the Quadrifoglio in that new Green they have. Then you would really be Irish lol
Have you thought about painting the calipers in orange to match the interior? Or maybe black. Thing it would look great. Not that it doesnt now, but just throwing it out there.
I also agree about the side vent. Would have been better to have it built into the body, like older M3s. Would look more aggressive and be functional as well.
ha ha funny almost 5 years with a four leaf clover on the Alfa and i never got those comments around here. I have thought about orange calipers since I custom paint those myself but i looked at a few online with my green color and not sure i like it enough to do that. if i was to custom paint maybe a cool gold, silver or matte black to make the M logo stand out more.
@@autofanaticcars Yea, matte black would look sick. Maybe gold too. Ive seen one like yours with expel stealth wrap, making it satin, and with gold wheels and black calipers. Looks really good. If I pass by it one day I will take a photo and share it. Was really impressed with the way it looked.
I had a frozen black one behind me yesterday and that looked great as well.
Congrats once again on the purchase.
What’s the Sonax product you recommend- thats a part that has me wondering when it will start looking trash - I never wear denim when driving that car for that exact same reason I’m afraid it will get stained
Hi Luis I use the Sonax foaming leather cleaner they sell it in 8.5 oz bottle on Amazon for $20 it is mild and works perfect to clean the drivers seat each week
@@autofanaticcars I will order one ASAP what about the cleaning method ? with a microfiber or special brush?
It must be a great feeling to own such amazing cars. Greetings from Poland 💪
thanks for watching all the way from Poland
your bmw service don't give you trouble for your modified exhaust considering that you had to cut the OEM one?
i did not cut my exhaust i installed a complete new exhaust bolt on no cutting required.
Would enjoy seeing the service video at your dealer Phil. Thanks!
definitely want to work on this once they give me permission and help arrange it was a really impressive experience
13:06 is that really all you did? Just some anti seize paste on the back of the pad? So many people complain about brake noise yet the dealers do nothing about it and say its normal, so everyone buys aftermarket pads, and while installing them they put anti seize paste on the pad and don't notice that the stock pads just needed that also.
yes i did so many videos on this over the years the Shelby GT350 was notorious for brake noise, I use a emery board to plane the pads surface down and also lube up the area where the pins slide through and where the pads move on their cavity in the calipers.
Can you tell me what front mud flaps you have installed? Thanks!
I made them and may be offering them in our web shop soon
This may would like a dumb question, but I’m stuck between choosing an M3 or an M4, and I’m curious as to what swayed you to choose the M3 over the M4? Maybe you can help me choose haha! Love your content! Thanks!
I honestly like the looks of the M3 better but the way I got this car was on the spot I did not order it someone custom ordered it and I just happened to buy it the day it got to the dealer. If I had a choice that same day between the M3 and new M2 I would have gone M2 for the smaller size car just for the sake of it but I have no regrets right now the M3 is bitching to drive with the mods ive done so far
Price and dealership quality aside which car do you prefer more guilia quadrifoglio or m3?
i honestly do no miss the Giulia that much except owning a black car with red accents. because I am enjoying the M3 more, stiffer suspension, superior braking system and the manual gearbox. its a great car i just wish it was a bit smaller like the QV but i think the M2 might be the sweet spot on these new M cars and I might transition to a M2 this summer when they come out
So I noticed my ‘21 G80 Base transmission started to diminish since last September. I took the car to the dealership and turns out they will change the transmission with a new one under warranty. I noticed the transmission would pop out occasionally in first gear, and there was resistance putting the car into first.
how many miles did this start to happen and was your car modified with more power or mostly stock?
@@autofanaticcars so the car is 100% stock. It has exactly 9,531 miles on the odometer. Problems started to occurs around 8k ish miles. In your past videos, I commented that I was going to get a CDV delete, and finally modify the car because it’s been stock since I had it. I finally took the car to the dealership to get a diagnosis of the transmission because I finally wanted to add my modifications I’ve been purchasing since October.
sorry to hear but one thing Il tell you to have the dealer replace the gearbox is super easy so you will have the car back quick i bet. keep us posted after the repair and if they suggest any break in or fluid changes on the new gearbox would be good to document.
Must be a spectacular service department, most nowadays only let you talk to the service advisor!
i was very impressed
Can’t wait to see the grill design you choose to replace the current hideous one.
Come on its not that bad. I think its kind of aggressive like an angry hog
@@leokerz it’s terrible. More like beaver teeth.
I like mine :)
Overall the G80 is a awesome car and probably the best daily driver for performance people. But I do think that screen is going to age badly. My mom`s M240i has that same new screen and I kind of don`t like it. But I suppose you can`t really escape the new huge screen fad the automotive companies are going through now.
yeah i think Mercedes just does a far better job with integrating the LCD on their interiors and BMW took the easy way of course to cut costs it seems.
hey! can you tell me which cf lip that is? thx!!!
A full video of this on my channel
I know this is apples to oranges, but how does it compare to the GT350R? Im considering trading mine for one.
Do Not Trade your Shelby GT350R for this M3 ever! The BMW is far better built fit finish paint and materials but the Shelby is far more special. I already sold the M3 and bought another Alfa Romeo watch my recent videos I explained why
I've seen the new M3 Touring BMW , has a huge trunk, but not available for North America :( .
yeah and not available RWD or manual gearbox, for super wagons the Audi RS6 Avant is hard to beat
All the right choices: green, carbon, black rims and red calipers.
yeah i love this spec
@@autofanaticcars I’m on the queue for a 2024 like this one. Now it’s just a patience game.
….I have been driving my OEM+ (full cat-back Remus exhaust w/ 4” chrome quad tips and 20” Vossens) G30 M PKG since new for almost two years at my neck of the woods….not once did I ever receive compliments from anybody. Where I am at, it’s all you see are Kia/Hyundai/Mazda/Honda/Toyota/Nissan vehicles …those owners get more attentions than my clean/fresh detailed vehicle…pretty sad🤷♂️.
this exhaust on my car is extreme loud and it pisses off so many its almost funny but I love it.
Do you think if the Alfa dealership was like BMW you would prefer the Alfa?
I would have made life much easier but if dealers can’t fix cars its hell no matter the brand
Car needs copper wheels color??
How much is the steering wheel ? Thanks !
contact me through my website with your specific requests but you must send me a core wheel for modifications we do not stock cores.
If you don't like the gap under the screen you could design a rubber insert to fill that gap and sell it online for other M3 owners. Maybe make some $$$. Just saying.
do you know any places that sell and install that alcantara steering wheel cover?
I do custom steering wheels but I do not use pre-made covers from someone else because i can not guarantee it was patterned properly and I am a perfectionist in what I do.
@@autofanaticcars can you send me contact info? i’m interested in getting it done for my g80
contact me through my website link is in the video description
Name brand of your front splitter?
Ck the channel for full video and install on front spoiler
Hey man hit me up. If you have products you sell maybe you want to expand up into Michigan?
Hi Jason we sell our products all over the US and abroad reach out if you had interest in representing our brand in your local area.
Would u swap this out for the Touring?
i know Europe is big into the wagons and all but I am personally not plus the touring is hundreds of pounds heavier, only comes automatic X drive so it would never be an option for me. The best sport wagon ever made was the Cadillac CTSV Wagon with 6 speed manual those cars were so special and amazing and now collectible if you can find one. If BMW made a RWD Manual Touring that would be another consideration.
Make a t shirt "don't sit in the drone zone"
That Isle or Mann green tho
Its nice to have a great service center. i had an unfortunate experience with one bmw dealership in Ct though and i will NEVER buy a car from them or ever use them out of convenience factor.i wont name names but they're in between New Haven and Greenwich and its not Greenwich BMW. i had a slight hiccup with speed sensors ,needless to say i took it to the dealership that was closer, and they did the speed sensor replacement, they never kept me updated and dealing with the service manager of that facility was horrendous, anytime i had to call for an update it was like i was bothering him on his lunch break. it was taking waaaaaay longer than necessary i could have easily done it myself but the cars under warranty. they never even offered a loaner, (probably didn't have any in-- their defense) got the car back very dirty on the exterior and and some small chips on the rear bumper i didn''t find until i washed it. within a few week another speed sensor malfunction... AGAIN. as someone who is mechanically inclined i got "that feeling" sucked it up, took an early day from work and brought it to BMW of Waterbury where they sent me the video of the improperly routed speed sensor wires chaffing on the cv axle boots. I ll take the half hour drive and use Bmw of Waterbury from now on they also had a loaner ready no questions asked. i know the feeling of frustration while dealing with an incomptent delaership with brand a new 17 month old vehicle.
thanks for sharing if you only knew what I went though for 5 years with several Alfa Romeo dealers it makes your experience seem positive.
Nice front lip… which one is that?
Suvneer i did a full video on this channel of the install start to finish
@@autofanaticcars subscribed… going to check it out
I love that car but I hate the interior screen… don’t think I can buy one just for that reason.
Yeah screen isn’t sexy but you overlook this once you drive the car, the tech is outstanding as well
So, definitely 6-spd. vs Auto Comp?
In my opinion YES but you must lower the car, do a nasty exhaust and this car is so much fun. Wait for my full exhaust video this week. I drove the AWD Comp the day I bought this car and I did not like it nowhere near as much it just felt like a nice luxury car to me, the 6 speed is so much fun to drive if your local in NY your welcome to stop by one day to check my car out
@@autofanaticcars Great feedback, thank you. I had a 2018 with the Comp and Performance Package (Akrapovic exhaust) with a manual and, regrettably, I must say the 6-spd did not feel like the right transmission for that car after driving it for a few years. That is a very nice offer, but I am in the Midwest so I will have to enjoy your videos instead!
@@autofanaticcars I'm actually local in NY. Laurelton Queens actually. I currently have a 2021 X6. Lease is up in December. I want to get a G80 next. Highly considering this spec...would love to see your car in person if possible.
Personally I find the E9x was the last good and raw M3. To me this is a 6cyl M5.
E92 has the engine but the chassis and tech is no comparison to the new G80 platform that how much things have improved with BMW.
Its funny how some people complain about the weight of the g80... did they forget the e90 was 3700lbs 15 years ago? Can't believe how heavy that m3 was.
exactly true the last light M3 were the E30 and E36 but also look at the technology that has progressed in 30+ years from tech and safety to those older cars.
@@gxp99 To me weight isn't even the biggest factor. It's the size and the fact that's it's too techy imo. I like that the E9x and prior were more basic. The interior of g80 is the interior of a luxury sedan not a driver focused sports car imo. Not saying it's a bad car at all, I'm sure it's more capable than an E90 but capability isn't everything. Not to mention looks wise E9x and prior wins hands down for most people
Kiren think about using anything in our modern world, would you really want to watch TV on a 15 years old box, use a flip phone and Windows XP still? technology is evolving far faster than us analog guys can accept but we have no choice with new cars today and this might be the last ICE M3 ever made and with a manual gearbox. this is why I own older cars still and love them and you appreciate each experience for what it gives you. I love the E92 and want to build one eventually but all the tuners got hold of these cars and there so hard to find great ones. I mentioned it before the new M3 feels like my older E60 M5 in terms of scale minus the V10 sound but man does it drive way better than the old M5. after driving this car for 3 months it really impresses me how damn good it is compared to the prior gen M3 you really need to spend a lot of seat time that a basic test drive wont allow you to get a feel for this new model.
I realize it doesn't matter to you. But in my opinion the Giulia QV is far better looking than these new Bugs Bunny BMW's. I know all about your frustrations with the Alfa dealers and other mechanical issues your Alfa had, but from strictly the styling and appearance, the Alfa is much more handsome, rare on the road and stylish in a timeless manner.
i did not buy this for style but from the fun factor and engineering of it. If this did not exist I would have gotten the Cadillac CT4V Black Wing which I honestly do not love the styling at all but it is an incredible performance sedan. The M3 is the perfect all around performance car to daily drive for what I need it for if I want to go further I have all my other cars I can swap out any day.
@@autofanaticcars I understand. You have the Ferrari after all and that car is incredible and it trumps all other sports cars, including the Giulia and the M3. I have owned three M3's and six other BMW models since 1991 (I used to sell BMW's) and I am just not a fan these days. Something missing for me. I'd take the Caddilac over one myself.
I’ve been BMW owner since 2006, and over the year BMW has managed to ruin ultimate driving experience. The new generation of BMW cars are all about tech, and not about driving. I had 2021 M3 same color combo and options (as OP), minus bucket seat. At the same time, I owned M5CS, and both cars didn’t thrill me. Don’t get me wrong, the cars are quality, but in terms of driving enjoyment; it was soulless. Now, I own a 2020 Shelby GT350, and I couldn’t be more happier. The car is analog, it’s not the fastest car I ever owned, and it’s not the best build quality as far as interior materials go. However, in terms of driving experience; BMW will always be second best to GT350, at least to me. BMWs are full of electronics and different gadgets to detract you from driving, and it make you feel like the car is driving you, and not the other way around.
i agree and FYI I also own a Shelby GT350R amongst other awesome cars. The thing with these new BMW's is you MUST modify them, out of the box they are too refined and quiet but the way my car is set up is a freaking blast it honestly reminds me of a modified E39 M5 now it is so much fun but stock i dislike almost any car in this segment. The 6 speed and carbon seats are a must since you sit lower. The Shelby is another animal from a different world but the quality and fit and finish are really poor still which is a shame. glad to hear you are enjoying the Shelby i started this channel all around the ownership of the Shelby GT350 and did so many videos on this channel.
I’ve been watching your channel ever since I became Shelby owner. Good content, for sure.
It’s costs way more to modify BMW, isn’t it.
Youve own trash bmws since 06
It's a shame you had to go with your third choice of car just to get decent after-sales support. The Alfa is definitely the better car for driving enjoyment and smiles per mile as you said many times in your videos. It's already apparent with the BMW that you're talking about engineering and tech rather than fun, love and involvement that you were with Alfa! I can't imagine you'll be taking the long way home anymore which is sad.
want my honest opinion? the M3 the way I have it set up is far more fun to drive than my QV was modified. it's louder, manual gearbox is more engaging and the power band is more usable on the streets of NY. The M3 suspension tuning and brakes blows away the Alfa the Alfa was always too soft for me even in Race mode and they tuned them soft for a reason. I like firm, Porsche firm and the M3 feels like that .It is a very impressive car and until you drive one with mods like mine back to back you could not understand how good the car is. No regrets whatsoever buying this car.
@@autofanaticcars Early days, we'll see. If it puts you through hell or even if it doesn't and you keep it for four years and still like it then I might believe you!
@@memo3872this comment didn’t age well 😂
Side fenders vents on QV are also fake and not functional.
To summarize : Alfa needs to improve customer service
they need to fire everyone at corporate and restructure the brand from the ground up then work on new dealers it is awful
Dude, it’s just an oil change not an engine rebuild. 😂
OG said there's no soul to this car, grill is ugly af
so you value the opinion of someone who bought an AWD automatic version and never driven it to someone who daily drives a lighter RWD 6 speed and already did mods to it? the car is amazing to drive the way mine is set up and far more rawness than most can handle considering how damn loud it is now.
Proper service...imagine that! Send video to Alfa so they can teach dealers what proper service really means.
I agree it is embarrassing how Alfa and quite a few other brands are so poorly managed and run in this country and beyond. Service today is key to maintaining customers and brand growth but so many companies ignore these principals
The Giulia is now been referred as “broken Giulia” lol
i feel bad for whomever has that car now I feel it will be flipped around a bit unless it got sent to the crusher by now
Not a fan of that exhaust...sounds like a Honda
Isle of Man*
BMWs are designed for mechanics. Easy to work on, if something you working on gives you a hard time, you’re not doing it right.
yeah coming from working on Italian cars its great
The Alfa is the better car, I don’t know why you has so many problems! I have people over here with horror stories with the same model m3 where the garage can’t fix them . I guess things vary!
the Alfa is a great car and the M3 is a great car one is not better than the other both offer amazing driving experiences unique to the brand and I have owned two QV and now the M3 daily driving and can attest to this feedback so far. The BMW trumps the Alfa in tech, build quality and most important after sales support.
Whait he only has the car 3 monts 🤣🤣
Then go buy a second alfa then. Simple.
Looks like he may have one already if that’s his alfa in his pic.
wow you honestly should not even own a car if you think the sprint filter was the cause of water leaking into the electrical system for 3 years and causing all my issues. the mods on the car had absolutely nothing to do with my issues the car was defective in manufacturing and proven.
That interior looks so cheap. It's kind of sad the way cars are going. Cheap (to manufacture), cheap plastic. no imagination just cheaping out left and right. And the cars weigh WAY too much.
We look forward to your best wishes for the earthquake in Turkey. please don't forget us.
Hi sorry to hear of this tragic event we send prayers to you and your family and friends.
@@autofanaticcars Could you please briefly share your feelings about the earthquake in Turkey at the beginning of the next video?
Alfa service is so terrible
Say what you want about about BMW but thier service is top notch. I've owned alot of both M and non M cars and the service is always top notch. Full videos- direct texting with the techs real time and b/c I've built a relationship they know not to try and wash any of my stuff. Dealt with Greenwich, Darien and Ridgefield and no matter where it's always been good. Once they understand you are a serious car guy they don't look for problems and they are reasonably fair ( look for discounts, don't stress at initial estimate, it'll come down) usually if you have a more than 10yr old M car you get a heavy discount. I think the oil changes on my e39 M5 are 80 bucks, and I think I got a 30% discount when I did serious suspension work on my e46 m3
thanks so much for sharing I have not owned a M since 2014 but always had great service with BMW in the past. I was in complete shock at the experience I had last month coming from years of agony and anxiety with other brands,
@@autofanaticcars I've watched it with the Alfa,Lol. Long time subscriber. Like your stuff. Imo, building the relationships makes all the difference . Not only the service writer but the techs ( I was a tech in an earlier life, compliment the snap on box, let them know you're serious etc). Forgot to say if you have want they will pull your blackstone samples for you no prob. Miller motors service, over in Stamford, imo, unless you have something serious, they don't care.
Hate to say it but I’m seriously considering BMW again... love the QV, and will keep her but would be great to add an M3 as a daily.
Land Rover has been doing this for years. You’re way late to that game.
Yet another bone stock BMW with stock steelies. Nothing to see here folks.
