- The Hobie BOS is a series of National Level Kayak Tournaments held throughout the country. They had an event scheduled for the New River and I had to go check it out. This place was undeniably unique and the feelings you get while floating down this river are incredible. The scenery and the biodiversity of wildlife were simply amazing. Come along as I compete in a kayak tournament where some of the best to sit in a plastic boat compete!

Looked like a great experience and awesome time. Glad you decided to do this trip
It was fun man!! You should definitely check that river out and when you do let me know 😎
One of the biggest things I've learned, and appreciated, is how you "treat" the fish you catch. I guess gentle is the word to use. Only in circumstances that can't be helped do you toss them back in. They're creatures in our world that deserve respect and it seems that's what you give them. That's how I now see them and treat them as such. And I do feel like a better human after releasing them gently. I hope all this makes sense lol. Thanks for all you do on your channel!
I appreciate it Kathy!! I really try my best and have learned over the years to take care of the quarry we love to chase. I feel the universe pays it back ten fold.
New River is definitely on my bucket list for a place to chase smallies. You scratched out a limit each day and fished brand new water. Solid effort B. Blessings
I’m still in disbelief it’s so close to my place I’m definitely gonna go back! Limits were tough to come by so I chalked it up for a individual W
@@thecreekcrawler Absolutely brother. You were on unfamiliar waters and still had a good showing 👍
Recently got my new pb smallmouth on topwater. Your videos help me find smallmouth on my local river
Heck yea man!! I recently witnessed a feller get his pb on topwater too!! That video will be out soon.
Heck yeah bro LETS GOOOOOOOOO!!!!
😎🤜🏻
Liked that day 1 upgrade then the train agreed, thanks for the info on that drop shot
That train was so dang loud!! I tried lowering the volume on the clips it was in.
I like to camp at the New River Campground in Gauley Bridge WV. The New River runs right behind the Campground and there is area of mountains right behind the river that has a train that runs through it, it's beautiful!
Yea there was a train that ran parallel to the river! It was a beautiful place!
That was a good idea the drop shot I no I wouldn't have thought of it . Ohio has good River bass fishing I live in northwest Ohio fish Maumee River auglaize River Blanchard River and all its tributaries just get out and do it.great video 👍😀
Thanks for watching man! Highly recommend throwing the hellgie on a drop shot
Great video crawler one of the most beautiful rivers in the country great job with the drop shot !
Thanks Jeff!! That place is truly special
Great video and finish in the tournament! Congrats.
Thanks Jeff!!! I had fun.
Excellent tight lines👊🏼
Appreciate it man!
Great job 👊, and very nice tourney content/recap!
appreciate it Adam!!! I had a blast man
Looked like a cool trip buddy. Tournament aside, that’s a pretty place to be.
It was awesome man!! A better time of year would be ideal!
The Nikko Helgie is a killer on a drop shot, it catches fish everywhere I’ve tried it, great video, I like the long videos!
Holy smokes it’s good!! I’ll start using it more often on the drop!
That river looks amazing
It was awesome!! And it’s not terribly far from y’all either!
Your 30 minutes episodes are awesome and keep it up especially the tournament coverage.
Update: My Nikko leeches are in. Going use the same drop shot setup. Heading the AEP recreation lands on Wednesday and probably Lake Logan over the weekend. Thank you for the tips.
Yes!!!! The Nikko leeches are killer! I actually have been using them on the drop shot too!! Cool thing is you won’t have to replace your leech every 2-3 fish. Lasts all day long
Nice! I’m two hours from Beckley. New River is a great River. I may get up there one day lol. Love your channel man!
I really want to go back during a better time of the year! I’m sure that place is crazy good!
@@thecreekcrawler keep it up brother!
awesome vid man ! and good job it is pretty down there for sure ive been stopping there my whole life to hike a little and never fished it
Appreciate it man! I would definitely take a rod with you next time!
Always fun seeing and fishing new water. Great video as always!
That’s what it’s all about!! I love exploring new water!
Nice catches! Love, love the longer videos!
Thank you for the support!!
I live in Beckley! Next time you’re around give me a shout, I’ll put you on some fish!
Y’all have an awesome river!
@@thecreekcrawler we definitely do!
@@shawncoleman2280 I wish the big ones would have showed up during the derby. I caught some great fish pre fishing
Solid work getting limits both days! Your Tatula sounds a little like mine with a little drag slippage when you jack one! 😅
I need some grease for sure 😂 I love that reel
@@thecreekcrawler I think I over greased mine when I cleaned it. The drag is smooth, but it wouldn’t be great for frogging or punching in its current condition.
Outstanding video! Enjoyed watching you out there doing your thing! Beautiful scenery and some nice catches. Keep up the good work my friend. Looking forward to more great stuff. And as always, #TheCreekCrawler rocks!!!
Thanks David!! That place was so cool. Stay tuned I have some awesome creek and river stuff from recent trips on the way!
Hey Crawler, now you're fishing my neck of thew woods. Been fishing the New all my life, it's a wild river, you have to respect it for sure. Glad you had such a good day. Did you put in at Sandstone?
It was either that one or the one downstream! It was a chore to get to and from that ramp. I lost out on a few hours of fishing due to me leaving early to find service.
@@thecreekcrawler The current is so strong, you really need to just flow down river and run a shuttle to do it right. Sandstone to Price is great, 20 years ago we wouldn't see maybe a couple boats on a saturday, now it gets a lot more pressure. . Let me know if you ever want to hit it again. Also the Greenbrier river is special too!
Nice job buddy. Love your videos
Thanks Neil! Have a great week!
Should have gave me a shout would have met ya down there for that one
I’m definitely going back!! That place was awesome
👍😎
Thanks for watching Michael!
Now you're in my neighborhood.
You are very blessed with one of the coolest rivers I have ever been on!
I heard there was a alot of smaller fish caught them 2 days of the tournament
Yea the smaller ones were in abundance. That’s good news for the future fighters of the river. It was a grind and enjoyed every minute. Thanks for watching!
I recently watched your hellgrammite video with vance outdoors and was wondering what brand and size jig you use with the weedless nikko? Additionally, what jig would work best for exposed hook finesse with it? I've been watching a lot of your vids with the hellgrammite, and it seems to work great in creeks.
There are many to chose from but I try and find the football style EWG hooks. It just seems to work so much better in the rocks. I use the vmc rugby ones or the owner finesse football EWG. I appreciate the support
@thecreekcrawler Thanks for the reply! Would those work for both the 3 inch and 4.25 inch nikko hellgrammite?
What hook are you using to drop shot? 🤔 I want to try this technique
I believe that is the g finesse 1/0 worm hook
