I usually set gov springs at the first decently firm click. Rarely ever is that not where they like to be. There are getting to be a lot of these pumps with 300-400k miles n them and the governors are starting to get worn and have slop. If you put big injectors in front of one combined with the touchyness that comes from having high rpm springs they can get to having some driving and part load issues like you described with the ac hunting. A governor system rebuild on a test stand is the only good fix for that I have found.

Anytime I wind up with extra parts that I didn't use is the time I go buy another truck to use those parts on. Never waste perfectly good parts! ;)

great video! my dad bought a 97 with someone else's springs in it and I've never gotten it to run or idle as good as the ones I've done. I'll have to check his shims or possibly get new idle springs

Like your content. Do you know where I can find a new set of the cam nut and retaining washer for the governor spring. I have a 1998 ram 12v Cummins with a 180 p pump. Thanks

Hey Lenny. I know this is an old vid, but I called your biz and was told you don't sell the P7100 Idle springs or Bosch idle shims.
    Any ideas or suggestions?

Awesome video Lenny as usual! So, if I install 4k gsk and truck still under 3k rpm with previous click count, I need to tight until get 4k rpm, correct? I mean it Doesn’t matter how many clicks gonna have at the end but need to rev 4k rpm, am I right?
    Thanks a million

We don't know how your truck, or pump, is setup so it'd hard to make an accurate recommendation as to what you should do next.

I have a 3k setup, it works good but I have to tap the throttle to start the truck.
