  • How does the INTP Personality Type Growth look like? What are the important fixations an INTP needs to get rid of to grow and to find balance and flow? How can you move from getting your energy and appreciation from other people, to finding inherent passions and possibilities?

How many INTPs does it take to screw in a light bulb?
    Trick question:
    1. INTPs don't need light, we have ourselves
    2. INTPs aren't going to help themselves in practical ways
    3. Someone else will get upset by the INTP "laziness" and do it for them

^ Or perhaps some kind of uncontained light source that is based on fixed emitters or raw energy, thus not requiring any light bulbs to be replaced, but perhaps just some kind of recharging mechanism or battery replacement.

I think a huge issue that the INTP faces is the fact that people see them as lazy or unmotivated while in reality they are working very hard and spending massive amounts of energy on the things they enjoy. Just being in an environment where they're work is being appreciated is a huge plus.

Literally this, for me. I always wonder why just showing up and suppressing what I would rather be doing right now isn't understood and rewarded more in society. Socially.
As a 30yr old I've started to realize a lot (most?) Ppl in the US at least identflify their job as their identity which is just something I would never do unless I was in charge of the entire thing, like an author. (Which I'm increasing my skill with in my private life. Which is what I want to do besides show up to work lol)

Why is just-in-time-delivery considered a great innovation in the world of commerce, yet supposedly it's a personality flaw of the INTP? "Lazy," "unmotivated," "procrastinating" - it's just-in-time-delivery! It's the most efficient way for me to do something quickly without tangental mental distractions. I get more done in less time that way. It's calculated, not "lazy."

    • @JohnSmith-ox3gy
      @JohnSmith-ox3gy Před 3 lety +1

INTPs are harder to motivate, they tend to care less about those things that are used as leverage in hierarchies. If you have someone overqualified, unmotivated by financial security, - status or unshamable these tools to correct their behaviour are ineffective.

Im a bit of all of those. I think I think all the time and it actually energises me despite the fact I'm actually a slow thinker. I have no issue consuming cognitively demanding content for all of my free time/ non free time where other types can't handle an hour of the content I consume. I'm more on the unstable neurotic end at this point in my life though whereas before I'd be on the stable and emotionally neutral end. Now I make decisions quickly depending on the decision. E.g. I prefer convenience over quality when it comes to purchasing certain things as I don't like to wait.

I work in the entertainment industry so I know you only need 1 INTP to stew in a light bulb…
I HAVE to be bubbly and alive but it’s also a creative industry so I get to vent via shows and prepping but it’s so so draining… thankfully I can draw energy from a crowd…
If I want to be alone I can as I’m cut off from people but still part of a crowd..
I get to be in control whilst also collaborating
It’s just close relationships that are hard….

I didn't agree with this video. I studied personality theory in college and found it fascinating. But the Briggs-Myers personality test confused me; in that I scored ENTP or INTP and it seemed to vary according to my mood, circumstance and situation. That was until I participated in a study which was based in genetics and they were looking for a genetic link to hyper-aggression. Hyper-agression being those who fell in the extreme edge of two standard deviations or above in aggression. This has been termed in popular culture as the "warrior gene." Although they were looking for anyone above the 85% line I qualified to take the test and scored in the 83rd percentile, but I was firmly an INTP in their modified Briggs- Meyers personality test. It changed my perspective considerably and explained why I was sometimes and could operate as an extrovert for extended periods of time but needed a lot of alone time.
Where I disagree with this video is that it confuses a persona, e.g. a mask; and appearance put on for show, with a predisposition. To clear that up. It's based on the re- packaged Hippocrates original theory, which the Briggs- Meyers further divided into 8 categories. These are the same "Red, Driver, lion, Choleric"; "Green (originally called White by Hartmann), Amiable, pigeon, Phlegmatic"; "Yellow, Expressive, monkey, Sanguine" and "Blue, Analytical, giraffe or dolphin, Melancholic" Because Briggs and Meyers saw that two categories may be combined, in differing proportions in one person, but the opposite types did not combine (Choleric/Phlegmatic) or (Sanguine/Melancholic). In the video Thor combines the opposites, by confusing the earliest work in personality theory and combining it with a later work, which refined the earlier work.
That is why I disliked this video it is done by a person who did not do their due diligence, study the science behind it, or have knowledge of sound Psychology and in their ignorance they mixed the opposite parings. It's total garbage created by confusing categories in total ignorance of the science behind the designations. Typical pop psychology, which does more harm than good. A little knowledge with no idea of what it means, or how to apply it, is always dangerous.

INTP method of changing a light bulb:
    1. Remove burned out bulb.
    2. Notice that it's an incandescent bulb, and so uses more electricity and doesn't last as long as an LED--probably why it burned out in the first place.
    3. Look at the wattage and the color temperature on the bulb.
    4. Realize the old bulb had too bluish a tinge, and you should pick a different color temperature.
    5. Think about the blackbody spectrum and how color temperature relates to RGB color coordinates.
    6. Decide what color temperature and wattage you should pick for the new bulb--come to think of it, the old bulb was also a little too dim.
    7. Look for an appropriate LED bulb in your stash.
    8. Realize that the fixture takes bulbs with an unusual kind of base, and that you don't have any such LED bulbs.
    9. Go online to look for an LED bulb with the correct base.
    10. After not finding any, come to the conclusion that LED bulbs with the appropriate base don't exist.
    11. Get very frustrated with the silly person who designed a light fixture that won't take LED bulbs.
    12. Decide that before replacing the bulb you should change the light fixture so it will take the kind of light bulb you actually want.
    13. Realize that this will require the help of an electrician or at least one other person, so it can't be done right away.
    14. As a stopgap, move a desk lamp to the area to use until you get around to making arrangements to replace the fixture (a few months from now).

No. No. No. No. Not me at all, until 16:40 when Erik starts talking about the positives of an INTP - drive, ambition, creativity enacted by always learning and finding an outlet for my conclusions by means of communication. Also, while I don't care what other people think about me, I'm interested in their perspectives and am always open to listening. Furthermore, I can see through people's facades in seconds.Whatever is new and undiscovered is what motivates my insatiable curiosity. Then self-expression erupts out of me from just below the surface - repressed extraversion. Only after that do I need to re-charge - introversion. The cycle starts again.

Well first of all I would have to assume you're referring to the common visible light bulb containing electromagnetic radiation wavelengths in the range of four hundred to seven hundred nanometers and not some kind of bulb containing any undisclosed form of electromagnetic radiation that is not visible to human eyes...
    Procrastinate.
Then I would have to explain to you why "light bulb" is a such a bad word to describe something that only ever pertains to a tiny portion of the spectrum we can see...
Then I would come up with a few different more practical names and immediately change my mind and hate all my suggestions for extremely technical reasons no one else would have ever noticed.
    Procrastinate.
Then I would casually mention how the theory of light is all wrong anyway and I have been working on a theory for awhile I just don't know anyone who understands anything I am saying so it's hard to get all the kinks worked out...
Then I would continue on in life having my path illuminated by RGB strips, computer monitors and cell phone screens knowingly straining my eyes beyond repair until someone else replaces the bulb because i'm "too lazy" and then I complain about how inefficiently directed and bright it is and how it hurts my highly sensitive eyes and swap it with a black light while telling you how much proper lighting will change your life and not to take your vision for granted.🙃
