Tombstone AZ Underground Searching For The 500 Level Day 1 Getting Close

  • The first half of day 1 searching for a lead to the 500 level in the massive tombstone silver mines. Various guided tour levels are available of the Tombstone mines, this covers some of the unexplored wild areas. I split the day into 2 videos because it was so long.

    Can't imagine the effort required to have dug that out by hand. No blasting, no tunnel boring machines, just picks and shovels. Wow.

    We are up in Prescott AZ where miles of mine tunnels are in the Bradshaw Mountains like Iron King and over in Jerome copper mines.

    We used to live in Gleason outside of tombstone. It was a blast!. Old ghost town. Of course we were only 19!!!

    For us non miners... are the posts at 36:39 really holding up the entire roof? Or are they there to keep some spalled sections up? Beautiful pictures of what looks like epsomite whiskers coming from the rocks.

      The support timbers do hold the back up (the roof) in a way but mainly when they start to creak you know you have issues most of the supports are in areas that have peel of values that cannot be barred down and removed so in a way they do support opal miner here :)
